What GMs in pro football never do is break the bank for a RB. Supply and demand.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

I agree. There is a ton of risk to contracts that big. -
For sure. Noeller you can take it or leave it. If you think my comment makes no sense so be it. I don't think a lot of your hysterics make sense but live and let live. If common sense and everything we know and every comment Schoen has ever made about playing here can't lead you to a reasonable conclusion that's not on me. If you wanna be in panic mode over every single player don't expect us to do the same. That's your perogative but I'm not going to go full on worry wart when there is no reason to do so. Your comment is pretty f-ing rich from a guy who went full on for a couple weeks insisting Walters was replacing Steinhauer. We all saw how much sense that made yet no one was shitty about it. I never once proclaimed to have inside info, but it makes complete and total sense that Schoen isn't leaving here if our money is near as much as whatever the best offer he gets. Why would you even dispute that or call it non-sensical?

Still more than he is worth, but getting closer to reality. -
Schoen has more friends on the Bombers than he does in Ottawa, even with Brown. The only way Dalton goes anywhere is if we can't stay in the ballpark financially. Quite a difference in cost between those 2 deals. Would Ottawa pay a 5th rounder for exclusive rights without having assurances? They probably would. That doesn't mean they didn't have something worked out just that it's not a given considering the cost. Don't forget that the asking price to negotiate with Reilly from BC was a 1st rounder that Mack said no to paying.

Not saying Schoen wouldn't be productive with Fajardo. He is probably still a 1000 yard guy with him. Just saying that he likely doesn't earn the 250-300k he will be paid through no fault of his own whatsoever. He will run the best routes and beat DBs but Faj will over/under throw him. -
I am of the firm belief that we have a VERY good chance of getting Streveler back and it won't be for much more than we paid Brown. I think the 200k number is just a media creation based on the fact that most of them have the math skills of a 3 year old. Toronto is prepared to let AJ walk because of a 170k ask being what they consider too rich for a running back. I think that is what most of the league feels as well. BO just has zero leverage because he plays a position that CFL teams will not pay big for. Does he deserve 200k in a perfect world? Of course he does. Will he get it. I highly doubt it.

I hear ya, but certainly Montreal is keenly aware of who Dalton Schoen is and what his main strength is and are keenly aware of what Cody Fajardo's flaw fatale is. Knowing that do you go out and pay Schoen 250-300k when you know he isn't really a great fit with your QB? If by all out you mean making totally necessary changes to their roster...then yup...they sure are. -

Over paid imo. Sure he will accommodate. Question is how much does that accommodation hurt his production and over all effectiveness. -

Most of what I see from Schoen is that he is one of, if not the best receiver in this league at getting behind coverage and catching the ball on the run. Fajardo can't hit a moving target. If they want to waste Schoen by making him stop and be a stationary target then I think it's a lose-lose situation for both the Als and Schoen. That is most definitely not Schoen's strength. Can he do it? Of course, but he is most dangerous....almost exclusively dangerous as a moving target but needs a QB with accuracy to put it on him. Arland III is thinking about suing the CFL over this. Just a prediction. lmao -
How much earlier could we have traded him really. We are two weeks into this year's SMS. Obviously true but at the same time I watched Crum and he had a really bad habit of holding onto the ball WAAAAAAAYY too long and trying to houdini out when there was no realistic chance of doing so. Yea...he escaped once in a while but he got caught for a sack more times than not.

If I had to guess....180....unless the Streveler talk is for real then we just may let him walk if he wants more than 170k.

If there is and anyone knows who it is please contact Kyle Walters ASAP. Schoen would be wasted on CodyFaj. Cody does not have the accuracy to utilize the strengths of Schoen. Lawler is the type of receiver he needs. A guy who can still make the catch on a very poorly thrown ball. -

Schoen is a unicorn type receiver that just seems to be open every play. The guy's production is just off the charts. He's only been in the league two years. We need him back. -

I agree, and Schoen would be nipping at their heels in 3rd because all he does is get open and produce. If Lawler or Schoen were the same size as Hatcher etc they would be in the NFL. Oh no...they are big...that must make them the best. BC does not have a receiver that is nearly as dangerous as Lawler/Schoen. They have big receivers that rack up yards because BC refuses to run the ball ever. I'll take Lawler and Schoen thank you very much.
