  1. Yet the Younger hire was pretty much exactly the same thing. Highly regarded young coach with a highly respected older mentor off in the wings. I was apprehensive last year when we demoted Hall and gave the reigns to Younger. That experience has me with much more of a wait and see attitude this year. I like that they brought in a mentor for Hogan to work along side him.
  2. DL slightly better, LBers are better, Secondary worse, receivers slightly worse, OL same if not better. Not really seeing much of a difference from last year. I was hoping for a lot more out of Walters this offseason, however, I am fully cognizant it is very early into the offseason. A few years back I thought he had a pretty average to poor offseason then he pulls Bighill out of his arse a few days before TC.
  3. I am not in favor of everything our team does. I just won't call for coaches or GMs heads on matters of minutiae. I think that Lawson coming back puts Jake into less reps no matter how you slice it and that is progression not regression. Probably right. We both dig in our heels because we are passionate about our beliefs.....at times too much so. I like to think that I act as a counterpoint to a very different and vocal opinion. I would think most sensible people would be right in the middle. It is important that both sides of an argument are represented. There are many areas of concern I have with the Bombers but none of them are Jake Thomas. He is so very little of a moving part in all of this.
  4. How so? You are entitled to your opinion of course but just what are you basing it on?
  5. Jason Hogan OC Jarious QB coach Not sure about Hogan, but he will have a crap load of experience and help with JJ.
  6. Jake and Schmek were here last year. Regression means getting worse. Tell me how we have gotten worse.
  7. There is a ton of talent available. Go to the FA listings. Better than what we had? Such as who? Lawler's 800 yards last year? Haba and Garbutt's nothing....what exactly are you concerned about replacing? We effectively swapped Lawler for Schoen....that's a win in my books. Brought in Mitchell for Wilson....saw off....Vaughters for Haba/Garbutt....win for us. What has your **** in a bunch? You are so consumed with the JT resigning that you are not looking at the whole picture imo. It's kind of crazy because the one massive loss we took this offseason in Ford is the one you seem least concerned about.
  8. I see no regression whatsoever. We kept what was good, got rid of the mediocre talent and added some talent.
  9. I agree. Let the Hervey's and Goveia's spend like drunken sailors and make reasonable offers to who is left without competition.
  10. I'm fine with that strategy. I would rather we sign value than shiny baubles that weaken us elsewhere. Everybody wants the top 5 available FA's.....so do I....unfortunately rarely are they signed at a price that allows a TEAM to be better. If he has a carbon copy of his last 3 years even 220 was questionable. Guy hasn't been consistently on the field since 2021.
  11. He was not excellent against any team with a good DL. He got matadored badly all season long against the Ceresnas etc of the CFL.
  12. Me too, and if he's not quite there yet I am VERY comfortable with Randolph doing his thing. Probably.
  13. Yea....he was a real head scratcher as an all star. Maybe had more to do with the fact that there was a real shortage of quality at his position last year. Literally musical chairs across the whole West division at OG.
  14. Yea....he's Strev without the ability to do anything but short yardage. Honestly, he must have come dirt cheap or I would have been talking to Streveler.
  15. Mitchell was badly effected by the Esks musical chair QB situation and the fact their defence could never get off the field.
  16. Great short yardage guy, or good 6th OL. We kind of let him **** or get off the pot last year and he didn't pass the test.
  17. Stevens is a one trick pony. Great at his one trick....but not really a QB per se.
  18. Dobson had ample time in development. He's as good as he is going to be, which isn't very good.
  19. Lawler is a big loss, Dobson....I honestly think this will work out well for us. Rather spend on a new centre and let Wallace or Randolph start.
  20. Honestly, I felt that Dobson was the most over rated OL in the CFL last year and I don't really feel all that bad about him leaving. This isn't sour grapes either, I have openly questioned his abilities consistently over the past year. Watched him consistently get beaten badly like a rented mule every time he went up against an elite DT. The apologists here blamed it on Kolo, and they were partially right but WAAAAAY too many times he just got straight up manhandled one on one and you can't blame that on the centre. Good riddance.
  21. I am not blaming Kenny entirely for taking the money. In all honesty, he probably got a contract offer from us that reflected the fact that he has been unreliable.
  22. So be it. Love the guy when he plays but also don't like the value received on his contract. Maybe Hamilton gets him a full 18....but I highly doubt it.
  23. I agree with you on JT and Wilson. Not sure why they're still here. Still glad to see other scrubs shown the door tho.
  24. Nah...he has his sms structure and it's his job to build the roster. He's got the SMS to spend how he sees fit. Doesn't need Wad's permission on who to sign. I'd argue MLB. I think Jones did a fine job there. DE and NOSE...agreed....that's why we are letting meh talent go and are more than likely going to see something on both those fronts as well. It's day 2 of the tampering period. A ton of really good players out there.
