  1. My eye test for both is coach's comfort level in trying a long FG. We will send Castillo out for a 50 yarder in a close game, when Leggs was here we punted more often than not.
  2. One of the most misleading stats in the entire CFL, along with QB yardage, is tackle totals for MLBs. Sankey is a tackler in the box only, has no pursuit or contain speed, cannot go sideline to sideline or drop into coverage. 30 years ago he would have been the best MLBer in the CFL, now he is a fantastic at only one thing of many things a MLB needs to do player. Over rated? Grossly. A useful guy situationally though. Tackle totals are still held as the gold standard for MLB play and that is unfortunate, because it is no longer accurate. It's just that the media seems to not want to let it go, or can't figure out that they should. The game has evolved beyond MLBs playing solely in the box. The ability to do so is important, but is only about a third of the game now for MIKEs.
  3. I think ZC is just going after too many home run balls sometimes, and it's probably because he has the horses to do it. Probably should settle into a more balanced approach sometimes though and take what the defence is giving.
  4. Sometimes the other team shows up too. Playoffs is the time that both teams will be bringing 100%...winning those games is all that matters and in November it tends to look ugly. Well, they better, this is the time where the rubber needs to hit the road. I'm not willing to say we didn't look fired up last year, Toronto as it turns out has a pretty good team.
  5. I'm not hesitant to think we will win, because we do win over 75% of our games, but I get your point on the rest. For sure, but that possibility is always there I suppose no matter what. Great teams drop deuces in the playoffs at a pretty alarming rate if you look around pro sports. What comforts me is that we do have experience winning and know what it takes. Guys just have to show up. As fans, there is little we can do about that I suppose.
  6. Pretty high chance I would think.
  7. I can agree with all of that. Focus and inconsistency have been problems at times this year. Time to get that shored up in the final third.
  8. Yea..I was expecting a Calgary win this week. Guess not.
  9. Thing is if Osh could not get a replay it's possible command centre may not have either.
  10. With 42 at the half 100 was possible. Sadly we shut it down in the 2nd half
  11. This year...yea..but he's getting his exit strategy for the NFL ready too. He's not a fool..and he is hoping it's the Bombers if not the NFL.
  12. Yep..Hamilton was heavily regarded as the best team in the CFL in 2019.
  13. I'm happy with the win but when you are on pace for 84 points at the half you should damn well put up 80 points. When is this team going to play a full 60 minutes..farking roster management taking points off the board. Lol Seriously tho, this today is why I'm not sweating roster mgmt miscues. When we come out motivated and prepared roster mgmt doesn't matter.
  14. Well CFL.ca hasn't been particularly accurate this year, so here's hoping that is yet another error.
  15. Players can walk away from the PR if they want. They cannot talk to another team first though and players with reps of doing it don't tend to have very long careers afterwards. It is seen as a huge red flag about their character if players do this. Rightfully so. Also, the whole point of a player leaving would be to get game cheques as opposed to PR money. If they are activated by their current team there is no need to leave. No team is going to promise another team's PR player a guaranteed AR spot for the remainder of the season. Look around the league, who is Haba going to replace that he is undeniably better than? I like Haba, but we need to reel it in a bit. He is a promising rookie, but nothing more. He is not some superstar DE that we are refusing to play.
  16. It's a moot point, he's on record saying not this year. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he and Walters crack a couple beers this weekend and discuss what a possible return next year might look like tho. He's not up here solely for shits and giggles. I think he's giving the Bombers first crack at him for next year and he is doing it the proper way...in person.
  17. Next year and in time for the playoffs this year.
  18. A player cannot refuse a promotion from the PR to the AR....and I am super unclear why they would even want to.
  19. Like I said, I'm sure it does. Those who operate like that can FO because they didn't FI. It definitely doesn't show good character, definitely not the kind of character our team covets.
  20. He told the Sun that he will not be returning to the CFL this year. Wants to explore all NFL options first. Next year tho....hmmm.
  21. Sure...you can ask for your release from the PR at any time. What you cannot do is talk to any other team while you are on another's PR. That team, in order to even talk to you, has to poach you. Ottawa could not have called Piggy's agent before he was released from the PR, that's called tampering. Not saying it doesn't happen....but if a player were to ask for his release based on an offer he received via tampering....I don't want him anyway. FIFO. You are trying to spin it that players on PRs are able to field offers from other teams and that simply isn't so at least not within the confines of the CFL rules. What team would block a player from leaving if he wanted to? None probably. However, at that point I would have serious questions about their character anyway because you are either a player with a me first attitude that is taking his ball and going home, or you are a me first player willing to operate in a pretty shady manner to advance yourself. In short, if Haba asks for his release from the PR...good riddance.
  22. I am hoping that Hamilton is eliminated from playoff contention soon so we can swoop in and make a trade for Kongbo. I think he is another guy that would really like to come home like Lawler.
  23. A team with 3 straight GC appearances and the talent we have is always going to have a hard time getting all their talent on the field. We will have and have had good players walk because we couldn't pay them or we couldn't play them. In that regard, we are victim's of our own success. I'd love to hoard talent but that's just not the reality we face. We also have seen numerous players stay in diminished roles here too because of our culture and our winning ways. Rasheed Bailey just immediately springs to mind. Drew Richmond as well, who has turned down a few attempts over the past couple years to be poached. In all honesty, I think that Walters is going to make a surprise move before the trade deadline to shore up out cup hopes. Likely targets will be from Edmonton, Ottawa, or Hamilton. I would think it will be on defence. Right when we get sleepy on our roster, KW quite often makes a big move. Last year it would have been Lawler, so a big fish this year would not surprise me.
  24. It doesn't happen more because it is rarely successful. Teams block PR poaching attempts a lot, we just never hear about it. The player is under contract if the team exercises their right to activate him. Simple as that. Teams can't just go out and go shopping on other team's PRs and don't do it often because they then have to place someone from their AR onto the PR and expose them. 95% of PR poaching attempts are unsuccessful.
  25. Not true....many, many players decline being plucked from the PR of the team they are on. Also, most times these moves are thwarted by that team simply activating that player if another team swoops in. Yes he can retire, or just quit and go home. He cannot just walk off our PR to another team. Can't do it. No. Cannot refuse. If they did they would be activated then suspended. No...no it's not. Teams block PR poaching a lot more than you know by activating the player. Many players refuse to be poached as well.
