  1. Worst defences or just misunderstood?
  2. Love it. Was really hoping they would activate Alston.
  3. Any internal promotion at this point would be a complete disaster. Therefore, he has to be a leading contender.
  4. DL was no prize either. Yeah....I would expect Bennett to get a lot of reps this week in a make it or break it type of looksie for next year.
  5. Nope neither playing him or not playing him is drastic.
  6. If he shows up in a bra for the first game. Would be priceless.
  7. Sometimes you retire because you want to, sometimes you retire because you are forced to, You can only develop so many guys on the active roster and PR players are FA's at the end of the year and may sign elsewhere. We do have a few guys ripening on the vine already maybe not as many as we possibly could, but we are built to contend this year so a couple trade offs have to be made. Look, I get what you guys are saying but it is very difficult to keep a fluid contending roster with game ready depth AND build for the future all at the same time. I would say we have some players ripening on the vine but realistically we are not looking to rebuild any time soon....more like reload at least until after 2025 GC...and let's be honest...FA is our best shot at reloading. After 2025 I am thinking a full rebuild will be coming and that's when roster/PR management will be of paramount importance compared to now.
  8. I am hoping that O'Day keeps on O'Daisying and keeps Kelly Jeffries meteoric and undeserved rise up the coaching ranks going. There you have it...my dark horse, and something I could see the tire fire doing, pick for SSK HC. How frikken awesome would it be if they tried to lure Burris, and then last minute Hufnagel calls him and he puts his pen down and leaves them for the Stumps AGAIN.
  9. I agree and am not worried about that in the least. We will go young or cheaper at some positions for sure in order to keep our young stars here. Walters has a multitude of options in FA and hopefully scouting brings in some good kids as well. as they usually do. I suspect that the DL will see the departure of Thomas and lower contracts for Willie and JJ, the OL may see one or two of Bryant/Yoshi/Neufeld retire, our receiving corps will remain in tact unless Schoen chases the dollars, LBer will see Biggie retire, and we may move on from Rose and/or Alexander. Of course we will have to see who chooses to chase FA dollars as well. I think MOS has built a room that most would like to stay in though.
  10. Sucession plan? Gimme a break. This is the age of one year contracts. Succession plans aren't even realistic anymore nor are they particularly necessary....and I think you are selling MOS contribution way short but hey you've chosen to grind that axe this year so have at it. I will agree to disagree.
  11. I don't think Bomber fans have much to complain about in our secondary tbh, and the stats back that up. Best in the league. I'm a very results oriented big picture guy tho so I tend not to be too critical of the odd mistakes people make. Players..coaches..they are not infallible and all screw up. I like to look at the entire body of work and the end results. Just me tho.
  12. No doubt. Straight line speed is not football speed Rose has been mostly good imo.
  13. All of them. A very coherent argument can be made that they never did hire one. Jefferies has the role. but he was in way over his head.
  14. Losing Grant for 2/3 of the season will do that. However, you will never convince me that if ZC isn't hobbled we don't win that game easy.
  15. I would take Dickie as our ST coordinator.
  16. They are not wrong in so far as this could bite us in the ass at some point. However, I am not that afraid of this happening with the current talent level we have. If we were a mid tier team this could be problematic....but we aren't. I guess that's the bottom line for me. I'm just not that willing to go off on one particular flaw of a coach when he is delivering what we are paying him to do overall. That's just me I guess, and I tend to be a big picture guy. Could other guys do just as well with this roster? MAYBE....we don't know for sure and it would be really, really stupid to find out.
  17. I have heard our current NAT content criticized lately. I am of the belief that we have done very well keeping as many as we can. It's tough under the SMS. It's possible when you don't draft any. For some odd reason O'Day just doesn't seem to want to stock that cupboard.
  18. If we lost all our coordinators in an offseason...yea...that would be problematic all right. Losing them AND losing MOS would not be a great scenario. Could Buck take over and do well? I hope so, he's had enough years under MOS to understand how to do it right. I haven't heard anyone suggest that our Bomber management team from the top down is anything but top notch? Kyle and Wade get plenty of praise for their work. Both men have openly admitted that MOS does a phenomenal job with the team culture and cultivating a winning room, I am sure MOS would give both men credit for the tools to make that happen.
  19. I don't give two figs about MOS. I just respect his record of accomplishments over the past several seasons. He's not perfect, No one is but I doubt there is anyone else around that gets the results he does if he were to leave. Not right away anyway. However, again...I will state my objection is solely over the fact that some suggestions were made that MOS is not a good coach and is winning due solely to his roster. I think that's nonsense.
  20. MOS is directly responsible for a lot of Kyle's work. Many players have outright said they either came here or remained here because MOS is the coach. Absolute nonsense to not give him any credit for our past few years success. I have zero issue with the results he gets, and yeah.....every coach has a better win/loss record as their team roster gets better. It would be very difficult to suggest that MOS has underachieved though, pretty damn good success rate and no...not all of that is on the roster. Culture, cohesion, getting the most out of his leadership group, building his room, discipline, work ethic....those are just some of the things MOS does for this team in an extremely good manner.
  21. I'm all for constructive criticism when it's not over the top. However, many of Mike's criticisms have included suggestions that MOS does nothing to prepare his guys on game day etc, and maybe his days as HC should be numbered. That's not constructive criticism that's just taking it too far. MOS is the best HC in this league. I doubt Mike would admit that. If he feels that way, I certainly haven't gotten that impression from any post this year. I will retract if so, but really my defence of MOS is because I believe Mike has lost sight of that. I am not blindly defending the team, it's coaching, or anything else...I am simply measuring their performance by wins and losses. I am fully aware of some of the deficiencies MOS has shown. The good is still outweighing the bad by a very significant margin and that shows in the win column. That's not blind faith...that's sports. I honestly don't believe the team deserves as many drive by's as they have been getting this year by some posters. Just my opinion and I will voice it. I honestly don't feel that the Bombers deserved any criticism for the PR specifically on Schoen's injury.
  22. Not even remotely what I said, you are putting words in my mouth. I said I couldn't name any, and then asked if you could. That was a legit question not a dare, nor did I ever imply that you couldn't. That seems to be your MO lately tho, is to try and twist other people's words. This is the stuff I'm talking about....you are so dead set on bashing the team this year, that you are putting words in other people's mouths so that you can build a strawman argument that will favor your point of view. Somebody from the Bombers piss in your cornflakes this year or steal your woman at closing time? You wanna talk reality? Let's talk reality....5 straight West finals, 3 straight Grey Cups.....I don't NEED to defend anything...this team doesn't need someone defending them at all costs their win/loss record does that for them. I can't believe all year you've spent pissing and moaning about our club when you should be enjoying the ride while it lasts. Unfortunate you have become TB.
  23. Last year at the end of one practice Holm, Parker, Ford, and Grant were all coaxed into a 40 yd dash race as the team cheered them on. Winner: Evan Holm by a hair. It was very, very close and from the stands you couldn't tell who won from all 4. However, Holm got all the high 5s from teammates afterwards.
  24. None. Doesn't happen in Canada at the provincial level. That's a federal money ask. Could you imagine trying to explain to the citizens of Calgary why they have to attend games in a garbage dump but are paying for an NFL stadium in Toronto.
  25. All turned out to be decent players for sure. 174 players have gone through CFL PRs in the past 3 seasons according to CFL transactions page. You have come up with a list of 8 guys. On the outside chance you missed even another 8...that's a 10% batting average of guys on the PR developing into CFL starters. One guy a year on average. I think once Haba gets more seasoning he will be that guy for us, so tell me how much worse we are using our PR than everyone else again.
