Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
For sure. Lofton is only 30. If we had some Jackson-esque type love for him we wouldn't have cut him loose in the first place.

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
Eric Lofton actually was a bright spot on the Riders OL last year. It was their interior OL that was god awful. I'm not suggesting he's some great player, but he isn't as bad as some around here are making him out to be. The Riders got truly awful OT play from Council, Kelly and others but when Lofton took over at LT he wasn't half bad. Having another look at him isn't the worst idea. I think too much has been read into this signing. We lost Richmond who was our insurance policy for both OT spots. We need to fill his spot as well. Lofton would be a very good option for that.

2023/2024 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread (BRADY’S BACK! DALTON’S BACK!)
For sure. This is the year to do it as well. Walters knows darn well that there are going to be a bumper crop of blue chippers coming into the league this year with the near demise of spring football. Our recruitment will have options not seen in several years, so will every other CFL team. TC cuts around the league are going to be better than they have been in years as well. Should our own recruitment not unearth the next JJ, Ricky Walker or Winston Rose etc. this year will give us options through camp cuts that haven't been there in several years. Walters played this right. For instance, think how many teams are set at DE and DT already. There are going to be teams releasing some good recruits at those positions just by virtue of the numbers game.

When the really big fish are your own guys it tends to make FA a little dull. I mean we could have been like Toronto and let all our young great players sign elsewhere then be super active in FA trying to fill the crater they leave and declare ourselves FA winners despite getting inferior talent back. I prefer the way Walters did it.

Dolegala's arm strength is the only reason he is still in this league. He has a 2 cent brain and accuracy problems, but the guy can throw hard.

Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
His NFL scouting reports, Bengals TC reports, and pretty much every article written about him all suggest otherwise. The guy has a very good arm. Just doesn't know how to use it.

He also completely derailed the Rider franchise by taking ZC out. ZC was finally healthy and who knows what he might have done in Regina that year. However, at the end of the day good riddance to a guy the league should have gotten rid of a long time ago.

He has a big arm. Not Michael Bishop big but he can throw it. Not that it means anything though if you can't make the right reads or deliver it with accuracy.

I think that signing Schoen, and BO are two pretty big fish. Yes, they played here last year but both had hit the open market at the time we re-signed them. I mean it's not too hard to figure out why we didn't go on any kind of a spending spree, look at our roster. Compare it to other teams and you will see a great deal of the high end talent was already here. The top 2-3 teams in the league rarely get better in FA, they are fending off the jackals and hyenas from picking their roster apart. Take a look at TO, and BC who have hemmoraged top end talent in comparison, and only started adding back because they were picked over. We retained the majority of our talent and thus had little need to go splashing around in the overpriced market of FA. That being said Streveler, and Ford are two very big additions as well.

I'd say fair market value, in line with what we paid the GOAT before this season. Sask blowing their brains out for Yoshi is just a stupid pay and everyone knew it. It didn't set the market.

Fair.

Yea..last impactful developed by us OT I can remember is Dan Goodspeed

I have absolutely no issues with us turning over 6 starting spots and some backup/teams positions. Our scouting and drafting can bring in enough talent to cover that. We needed a bit of a roster reset in the sake of longer term continuity.

Bingo. To be the man you gotta beat the man.

Greg Peach? You must be thinking of someone else? He is not an OT, nor did we develop him. Besides being Chris Streveler, where does this group think we are finding any kind of semi decent backup QB for less than 120k?

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
We will almost definitely be drafting an OL with a high pick Team depth is a crap load easier to find then team high end talent.

Yea..we don't talk enuff about him for sure. He just quietly TCB.

Yea. I'm not seeing any real weak areas.

I think so too. Had a really solid season I thought. Can't remember what game it was but Yoshis guy was putting it on him in the first Q. Neufeld stepped up and helped Yosh and Kolo to his credit took up some of Neufs so that he could help and that DE did nothing after that.

Only 2 of the top 15 OL FAs signed so far. I'm thinking we may value add still.

2023/2024 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread (BRADY’S BACK! DALTON’S BACK!)
I got 11 wins out of that lineup easily, probably a couple more coin flip games besides those so 11-13 wins as it stands providing our STs are the same level as last year.

Yea...I'm not recalling it either.

Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
For sure. I am actually quite impressed that we were able to turn over some positions but keep most of the talent that really matters intact. Best of all the only team that had any realistic chance of leap frogging us this year hemmorhaged talent this offseason.

Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
Well it was inevitable really. We ran it back for 4 straight years pretty much. Not many teams can do that without a rebuild at the end of it. I think Walters did well to put a team on the field this year that should still be the favorite in the West while starting a bit of a youth movement. Yea...we just couldn't give him the money and opportunity he deserves here. Hopefully he gets rewarded in Hamilton.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News
Ok...that's the point I was trying to make. If you are going to have the drive and dedication, I think it stands to reason you will also try hard to win and that it is an absolutely ridiculous assertion that players feel like the playoffs are unpaid OT and don't care about them.
