Bye Week Thread: Complacency, Budget & Leadership,
GCn20 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
When an existing player gets an extra 550k in salary the next year it will have impact on the rest of the roster. It just stands to reason. -

All good. I know how these merged threads work and that you were not responding to me but to PB. -
Bye Week Thread: Complacency, Budget & Leadership,
GCn20 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The problem I have with our D is gassed is argument is that in the last 2 losses it's the 1Q when the majority of the scoring against our D occurred. We only gave up 7 points to Hammy in the 2nd half.....none in the 4Q. Does a gassed D suddenly get better as the game goes on? I get that at times the D has looked gassed this season, but I am not sure it is a main factor in any loss except for the Ottawa game. Also, the D being gassed tends to coincide with stretches of games that our O is simply not moving the ball. I agree that we need a beefier DL rotation, especially down the stretch, and that it can be problematic. It is not the reason we lost to Hamilton or the LDC though. It was just one of a few problems that the Bombers need to iron out. The main one being coming out and actually showing up ready to match our opponents intensity EVERY game. -
This time of the year, seasons are on the line. Jobs are on the line. Can't show up like it's late June.
-
Well I do agree something has to change. Uneven play is a recipe for losing games we shouldn't lose.
-
Osh needs to kick some arse. Zac played like crap too. Can't sit him but...
-
We've seen what this team is capable of when prepared and motivated. The coach needs to make sure thats the team we get every week. Simple as that.
-
At one time our team ran thru walls for him. Now they do it occasionally.
-
Agreed. We are giving them 10 yards a pass. Makes no sense.
-
Our effort, focus, and preparation have certainly regressed and shove that Kool aid slurper comment up your pie hole. Uncalled for.

And the holding..oy vey

We need turnovers

Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news

Yep..we were the only team that told him to shed 40 lbs before training camp. He did it and the rest is history. The Riders, in particular, must be stinging from that. A couple years ago some knucklehead Rider fan was beaking off about Winnipeg being too stupid to keep Labatte and the Riders being so smart for getting him. My response was "Yoshi and Neufeld". He didn't understand my rebuttal...clueless. -

Attendance picks up in the fall here, and unless it is really freaking bad weather the stands will be near capacity. Sell out? Yea doubtful for Edmonton. 30k probable tho. -
Ok...sorry...didn't notice the lol. My bad. Yea...only takes a single play or 4. Just ask Aaron Rodgers. I think they mentioned during the game that Jeffcoat was nursing a sore hip as well. Absolutely Haba did a great job when he has been in this season. I will be watching his run gaps closely this week. Not because I think he is doing anything wrong there or anything, just to see if maybe that is a reason we have been sitting him?
-
Not sure why, but over the past 4 seasons he adds DL to the rotation later in the season EVERY single year. Not sure why no one noticed this before? Must have been all the Grey Cups.
-
Completely agree. After a rough start our defence has been excellent too. I am not seeing it either. I see a team that has had more mental lapses than past years, but that's not a talent issue. Guys are taking a single issue, that has existed through our entire Grey Cup runs, and for some reason have decided this year is different. This year it's important and our team is not as good. I call BS on that. I don't like Osh's roster management any more than the next guy but he has proven he can win Grey Cups despite this short coming that has been happening for years, and he always somehow comes around to fixing late in the season. Puhlease....stop it with that crap. Jeffcoat and our defence barely saw the field last game. If you are trying to blame an injury in the DL trenches last week on roster management you are taking it too far. Our guys barely broke a sweat.
-
I do. We are just not as consistent. There is a difference. I say this year's team is the most capable of winning any given Sunday. Now they need to get into the right head space to consistently make it happen. That's not head in the sand, or denial of any sort. When we are on our game, this team is damn near unbeatable. Yes, we are wasting a roster spot on Jackson. No one has said otherwise. The fact is we are still able to finish 15-3 with both higher point output, and lower points against than last year. Did we lose a couple that we shouldn't have...yup...did we do that last year? yup. I'm sorry but all season you guys have been harping on roster management and we all get it but suggesting this team somehow isn't as good and is regressing is nonsense. We are every bit as good as last year talent wise. Last year we brought it every game, this year we have had some poor weeks of prep and mental let down. This week last year we got smoked by Hamilton....absolutely taken behind the woodshed and beaten like a rented mule. Teams, even great ones, have those kind of games sometimes. I want us to be perfect as much as anyone, but realistically it's not going to happen. I see a veteran laden club who has showed up to every big game this year in a BIG way. 50 and 40 burgers numerous times this season.
-
Let's hope so. I don't want him to go out there and lay an egg and prove the coaches were right to keep him on PR that's for sure. I looked over our last 4 years of depth charts and saw a pretty interesting pattern. In all the past 4 seasons Osh would play lean at the DL until the last month and then started adding DL to the roster as the playoffs approached. Quite possible we see this again.
-
You are saying we will not finish 15-3? Who are you giving a win to against us? I keep hearing about regression but that has NOT been proven yet. I like our chances of winning out. You don't? I don't understand why it seems like you are hoping we lose?

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
GCn20 replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You can switch a guy from 1 game to 6 game...always could. What you cannot do is count games that the player served on the 1 game IR as part of his 6 game stint. Never could, never will be able to do so. Not after 1 game or 2 games. Not sure where you got the info that you could? Has never happened before, there is no precedent for it. That is the whole reason they have two injury lists for cripes sakes. You can discount the rule book and the CBA if you wish, but find me one player that was switched from 1 game IR to 6 game IR and had those games count for SMS purposes. You won't find one, because it has never happened. You begin the 6 games of your 6 game IR AFTER, and only after, you are served you papers as a player placing you on the 6 game. That is when you are quite literally banished from the team for anything but rehab. -

Not according to the CFL rule book. You could always take a guy off the 1 game IR and put him onto the 6 game but he starts at game 1. There are vastly different rules for what a player can do, and can't do, when on the 1 game and the 6 game IRs. Not according to the CFL rule book. Look it up. According to the rule book, you can switch a guy from 1 game IR to 6 game but definitely NOT retroactively. A player on the 6 game cannot attend anything team related other than rehab for his injury. Players on the 1 game IR are free to partake in any team activity. That is the difference and it's a HUGE one that absolutely prevents teams from retroactively 6 gaming injured players. The CFL rule book and the CBA spell this out very clearly. If I am mistaken, so is the CFL rule book and the CBA. -
Totally agree. Walters has never been one to sit on his thumbs if he thinks he can shore up any area of our football team and particularly if he thinks it's necessary. If a move is out there that moves the needle and is the right price, I suspect Walters will take his swing.

Just responding to your post in which you directly quoted me and had quite a lengthy opinion about. Problem with that? Want me to stop...pretty easy solution. Don't respond.
