  1. ....and the reason he was able to play as long as he did was because he was very good. You think Popp kept him around because he was affordable? Uh, no. 400K a year. He did great in that system and as a result they were an excellent, consistent franchise.
  2. Mobility and a good 40 time is nice but above all you need a guy who can put the ball where it's supposed to be. People look at the "new age" of QB's in the NFL like Kaepernick or Newton and say "wow, they're so fast and athletic" and forget that they also have ridiculous arm strength and accuracy.
  3. I am proud to say I helped make Migs go full ***** and leave Riderfans. He has some very obvious buttons that you can push -- PM me and I'll help spread the word.
  4. No, hands down IMO it has to be Flutie, then Moon, not sure who should be #3 though. If the question is "best CFL QB" I'd say Moon then Flutie. Though the stats may say otherwise (too lazy to check). If its "best CFL career" then AC has to be in the discussion since he played 20 years. Basically, Moon, Flutie were too good to last here.
  5. I was a huge Mack fan his first season. Great year one, I thought. Then he had that first off season where he slept like a baby through free agency and I thought, this guy doesn't fully grasp the GM role. Only took, what? Two excruciating years after that? That said, I was kind of surprised Fat Greg Marshall was as horrible as he was in SK. Thought he would be okay. That being said, if Fat Greg had started in a less toxic environment I think he would've fared much better.
  6. Put him in a wheelchair and replace his (non-throwing) arm with a traffic cone and he's still better than our current QB line-up. #joemack
  7. That's what you get for running the franchise into the ground. Bottom of the barrel coaches. Run the team like pros and upgrade in 2015
  8. I don't expect a playoff year at all. Assuming we get Zach or Drew, I expect an up and down year where we lose a bunch by a TD or less. But we'll be in most every game. Next year though, 2015 -- look out.
  9. Why? Because posters don't want a less-than stellar former QB to be our QB coach just because he's a good guy and pays a mortgage in WPG?
  10. This is a really well-thought out and explained post that I do agree with. Just don't agree that canning your coaches after one year (when it's a good one) improves the outlook of the Bombers organization to the coaching pool. No, you misunderstood. I didn't suggest canning OS after one season (unless he's Mike Kelly/Tim Burke Reloaded), I said getting new/better co-ordinators when they become available and actually want to work here. Co-ordiantors only sign on for one year at a time anyway. Upgrading at OC or DC at year-end as options present themselves. Unless, of course, the guys we have this year do great. Which I think is unlikely. But you never know.
  11. That's great, it's long overdue -- we need a QB more though!
  12. Exactly. We can't expect pedigree people (players or coaches) to suddenly WANT to be here after the veritable circus this place has been, especially when they have other options. I'm cool with a Marcel and Marshall type of coaching staff; I'm also cool with another non-playoff year. As long as the team is run professionally and intelligently, we will be back in the running for quality personnel within a year. So in fact, I am more positive than a lot of you guys who suddenly "demand" respect from the media or other teams fans.
  13. Defeatist? I think it's realistic, and positive. The Club is finally on the right track. But we just won't get the respect we deserve overnight. We have to earn it on the field.
  14. Going to have to accept that we will not be getting a decent DC this year. The club is regarded as a bad place to be -- we need to change that by running things properly for at least a year. This will attract better coaches, which will attract better players. If Miller/Walters run the club properly and we actually get a QB, I would not be surprised if we punt both Marcel and whomever we get to DC this year for the start of the 2015 season.
  15. D-line is okay but losing Hall stings (not that it could be helped). Ratio isn't great either.
  16. Meant starters, not role players. And I would go as high as 15. You definitely took a bizarre approach to making it clear you meant only our starters. Next time, try not to emphasize the words ENTIRE TEAM if you mean half of it. Perhaps, but the fact remains that there is a dearth of talent on this team. A few short years ago it was "The Bomber O-line and QB suck, but they have great receivers and a ferocious D." Now it's Chad Simpson is good when he plays, Chris Matthews needs a change of scene, their D line needs help and their secondary is undisciplined. Oh, and the O-line and QB still sucks."

  18. Seriously, put the ENTIRE TEAM on waivers (before the expansion draft) -- how many of our guys would other teams want if it meant they had to dump a player on their own roster. It would be less than 10 players. Combine that with some of the worst coaching hires in club history (Burke & Crowton?!) and you have the sorry state that we're in today.
  19. Your hatred of Burke is blinding you from admitting that our roster is GARBAGE. Burke is an abysmal HC, yes, but you seem to think that just because Lapo took the team to the GC that it was an above average club. We rode to the GC on the strength of a 7-1 start (fuelled by Burke and Harris's defence). Once teams figured it out, remember how we sucked arse for the balance of the year and basically stumbled into the cup, whereupon we were anally pounded by BC? And how did we improve after that GC pounding? Buck Pierce, Goltz, a bag of garbage, oh, and Sofa Muamba. I feel bad for O'Shea (and Walters). They have a lot of work to do.
  20. Look at the QB's Calgary had to work with versus the garbage that WPG has? Calgary has had a vastly superior GM and as a result, a superior pipeline to quality players. If Huff was coaching Max Hall and the funky bunch he'd have a shitty year too. Kevin Glenn wasn't good enough in Winnipeg or Hamilton but he was good enough for Hufnagel.... And they had two other QB's pushing him that were/are superior to anything in WPG. Perhaps you should become a Calgary supporter seeing as you love them so much...rather than a Wpg hater... Your mom know you're online right now? Cause I hear you're failing social studies and she isn't happy.

  23. And it's really funny how Saskatchewan fans feel so cocky. I guess too many were at the Grey Cup game that they didn't notice that TSN basically ridiculed the city of Regina throughout the Grey Cup broadcast -- between the painful half-smiles of the broadcast crew, to the tweets about the poor facilities and barren landscapes, it was 3 hour shot at Regina.
