Arash Madani: Miller Trying to Force Rick Worman On Walters
NotoriousBIG replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
How is that great news? As soon as Miller gets the big chair, he starts lining his pockets by farming out work to his side business (Elite). Is Pinnacle hiring the receptionist they just canned too? I don't have a problem with Fish as an athletic trainer -- as a bodybuilding coach he was pretty laughable. I still remember him telling a kid to drink ".75 cups water, cause redheads retain more water. " Good Lord. -

But the fans and media say he's terrible so he must be Gimme a break. Mack was a terrible GM. His approach to free agency, trading with other teams, and handling the QB position we're all below average. He also made poor coaching hirings and firings and last time I checked, had a losing record as commander. Stats may be for losers but according to the stats, Mack is a loser. -
Tom Higgins interested in Bombers GM job
NotoriousBIG replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, yeah we all know you love Ross Hodgkinson. Let it go already. I never understood the hate for Ross, but at the same time, I never understood the love. To me, the ultimate testament to his abilities (or lack thereof) was when he was let go -- was he able to surface somewhere else in the CFL? If the answer is no, then he probably wasn't suited to the job. -

Not my mandate, but you have to look at how the club has operated since Bauer's day and make your own assumptions. -

not this **** again.... You wanna throw accusations like that out there let's have some proof, otherwise we can just assume that Walters got that job cause he was a good choice for it. The fact that Miller is adamant that he wants to keep Walters around no matter the role should be an indication that he's a good option for it. Or its an indication that Miller knows that with Walters as GM he could have a lot of say in personnel/team matters that he wouldn't have if a Buono/Higgins type was GM. Which is why he's been slowly championing him from day one. -

I'm not 100% comfortable with him in the lead chair right now, when we could have a vet with experience, like Higgins, help guide the way. I do think he WILL be the guy at some point. I'm a big fan of Walters work ethic and his commitment to turning around this franchise. If he and Higgins (..or another respected veteran...) were able to work together toward a common goal, I really think that would be our best case scenario. Agreed 100%, but a quality football man like Higgins (or especially Buono, Huffer) would smell right away that Miller will be meddling in football ops and balk at the deal Isn't it interesting that just a few months ago Miller was saying he'd have nothing to do with personnel? How things have changed. If Walters is the new GM on paper -- which he obviously will be -- then personnel decisions will basically be "by GM Walters, pending Miller's approval." For God sake, you think Wettenhall has such a system with Popp? -

Just seems so odd that Gary would pump Walters tires like this. Atrocious season, the team is NOT doing any better or "coming on strong" after Mack, and Gary is championing the current assistant for the big chair. They've been slowly telling us that Walters will be GM for 2 months, now Gary is in on the sales pitch. Just fricken make him the GM already. God this franchise is lame. -

This season can not end soon enough. Really not impressed with GM end-around taking place though, as per the Higgins thread. -

Lame reasoning on Gary's part. Other GM's have been hired after the GC and fielded teams the next year. -

That's just painful. Why even ask Lawless? That's like Gary asking Gisele Bundchen to leave Tom Brady for him. "Sorry Gary, as much as I love bald, fat writers, I'm committed to Tom." -
All true, but I'd take him. He would be the best QB, talent wise, that we've had in a decade. Just need to build the system to fits his needs -- can't pretend he's AC or Ricky Ray.

Sounds like Cortez will be available as he is quickly on his way out in Regina. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole as HC but he might be a decent OC. I'm loathe to make him wear the goat horns for SK's recent slide as Durant has killed many seemingly smart OC's. But yes, cart and horse people ----> GM then HC, then OC/DC/ST (hopefully C Dickenson). Speaking of Durant...... I wonder if our next GM could get him? Rather have Collaros but DD has some great skills.

There is NO WAY IN HELL (yeah, thats a lot of caps) that Wally would agree to work in this Gong Show. A meddling board filled with business types with negligible football experience; a newly installed president who's already meddling in the football ops. We won't even bring up the Bombers low-end approach to paying people. Wally would require HC, GM, full autonomy, a huge salary, and legally binding contracts saying that this is HIS team to run. No way Miller "The Special Teams Assassin" would sign on to that. -

Some of you guys talk like this team is on "the cusp" and just needs a QB to get us over the top. Our D is as fricken bad as our O, and our CDN content is shite. WOuldn't it make sense to pay for a GM who's been in full re-build before and has been successful? -

Well glad you're finding it funny. It's not like this franchise has been an absolute gong show since 2009 or anything. i find it hilarious actually. you mad bro?this team has gone thru some struggles, no doubt. they keep trying to resolve it which is fine by me. its not like lapo or kelly or daley are still here.. ditto dinwiddie, lefors, randle or michna.. change is good, when the club sees failure they act on it.. I really dont know what else you want to see happen. I get you think there is some grand conspiracy at play with ex bombers players and coaches getting special consideration but its not like the coaches and gms are not without solid backrounds.. walters, if kept as gm, would be the first one without a glowing resume.. but then again, thats a new change isnt it? Dude, you just made my point without even realizing it. Daley, Kelly, Mack, Lapo, Burke, the QB carousel -- they constantly make knee-jerk reactions and changes because there is never a viable plan in place.... ...because there is never a qualified football man or men making decisions. So you can laugh and go "oh well, I trust the board to make the right decisions" or you can look the last 5 years objectively .... you act like we are the only franchise to go thru lean years.. its simply not the end of the world man. we have been gone thru crappy times in the past and sorted it out.. sorry i have more patience then you.. the search for the guy or guys who bring us.back to the promised land will continue and pan out eventually.. you act like people are sitting on their asses not attempting anything to resolve it when its simply not the case.. No not the end of the world. Just 23 years. And counting. In an 8 team league. You are wrong --- I have no doubt that the board (and Miller) are working hard and trying to figure this out. I just have zero faith in their competency. -

Arash Madani: Miller Trying to Force Rick Worman On Walters

If Miller had the teams best interests at heart, he would make hiring a QUALITY GM priority #1, and let that GM pick his staff from there -- not go out of his way to ensure Walters has a job in the organization moving forward and trying to hire other ex-staffers to help out where Walters is lacking. What real football man would ever agree to come work in such a gong show? You may not like Madanis attitude or delivery, but has he been wrong? Seriously, take off your fan hat and look at this team objectively. We are AWFUL. The coaching and talent are the worst in the league -- and they want to try to McGyver some half-baked front office staff using spare parts and ex Bomber coaches? Start fresh. Build it right. -

NotoriousBIG replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Friends helping friends. As I've expected since Mack was let go -- Walters is the new GM. Bomber croneyism at its finest -- I gotta keep my buddy Walters in the job but I also need someone to handle personnel -- why not my other buddy Worman? The fact that Walters is resisting it shows how up his own arse he really is. Dude, they are trying to hire you help because no one really believes you're capable of being a GM! This franchise will NEVER learn. Which is why Ottawa will see a Grey Cup parade before we do. -
Wally isn't our GM. JJ isn't going anywhere, I'm afraid.
-
Sure. Hope it works out that way. I'm doubtful.
-
I'm thinking Khari as Head Coach. Cause a 3-15 team with no QB is perfect for grooming a new head coach.
-
Agreed. Aside from Walters and Dickenson, this is a terrible list. No, aside from Dickenson that is a terrible list. Mark my words, we will NOT win a Grey Cup with Walters running things. This team needs and entire reboot in attitude and ideology. It needs a proven winner. That's not Walters, at least not right now. As sad as the above list is, I can pretty much guarantee we will see a lot of those names (except Rick C will be HC of the Esks). Could see us giving the headset to Khari. Yippee.
-
Well, you did kind of set the tone yourself by saying that Burke & Walters will be back...which is pretty unpopular (although very much a possibility). Miller and Walters will stay on permanent but Burke will be fired along with Creehan. I would assume Dave **** would be on the short list.... though theres no way in hell he'd leave Huffer to join this ship of fools. Pains me to say but I think Bellfool will be a front runner. Its the Bomber Way.
