  1. I guess I am finally realizing, tburg is a troll. I know, it was obvious years ago i might be a bit slow
  2. exactly. I too drove through there, and it is a thousand miles of corn, subsidized, irrigated, and dumped onto the market. ogallala aquifer going going..... gone. nothing like our prairies, which are beautiful, and where there is something left for birds, and so on.
  3. $$$$$ tburg, what an oddball statement. wowsers.
  4. I have driven through that area several times. It is vast, mile after mile, of wheat. and, a super max prison. its not like our prairies, it is a strange landscape.
  5. lol not strevellation good, but still good. Demski
  6. good to hear, nomoffence but it is hard to tell where you stand from your posts, including this one. on this subject you tend to be a bit cryptic imo. drought is cyclical, sure, but the point I made is the current drought is the worst in 1200 years, was exacerbated by burning fossil fuels, and is not ending anytime soon. and its not just s.w. usa, Washington state wheat crop is gone, no water, withered away. its a huge wheat growing state. large parts of the european side of the mediterranean is on fire. hard to imagine when what will happen as it worsens, so a few oilmcompanies and coal companies ceo can get a five hundred foot yacht. anyway, thanks for clarifying.
  7. I realize there are people who think "this happened in the past, so nothing new, dont worry." at this point, given what we are seeing with our own eyes, and reading every day, nothing will change their minds. fossil fuel corps love that. their pr department would get the Nobel prize for advertising if there was one. some people pick and choose which science they will act on. so for example, vaccine, yes, climate no. change is hard. anyway, there is a lot of water tied up in Greenland ice sheet. AFP 2 AUGUST 2021 Greenland's ice sheet has experienced a "massive melting event" during a heatwave that has seen temperatures more than 10 degrees Celsius above seasonal norms, according to Danish researchers. Since Wednesday the ice sheet covering the vast Arctic territory, has melted by around 8 billion metric tons a day, twice its normal average rate during summer, reported the Polar Portal website, which is run by Danish researchers. Massive melting event in Greenland. While not as extreme as in 2019 in terms of gigatons (left image - but still would be enough to cover Florida with two inches of water), the area over which melting takes place (right image) is even a bit larger than two years ago. — Polar Portal (@PolarPortal) July 29, 2021 The Danish Meteorological Institute reported temperatures of more than 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit), more than twice the normal average summer temperature, in northern Greenland. And Nerlerit Inaat airport in the northeast of the territory recorded 23.4 degrees on Thursday, the highest recorded there since records began." also, looking at records being set in Europe for highs. solution: drill for more oil.
  8. good summary of Bipartisan Joe's cave: outlines some earlier bipartisan "triumphs." https://jacobinmag.com/2021/08/bipartisan-gutted-infrastructure-bill-reconciliation-bill-democratic-congress-biden-administration
  9. The article is not about irrigation. The current drought is a "big departure from the norm" you should read the article.
  10. current drought in the s.w. us is much worse than that of the thirties, and is probably permanent. usa today 2020 "Fueled in part by human-caused climate change, a “megadrought” appears to be emerging in the western U.S., a study published Thursday suggests. In fact, the nearly-20-year drought is almost as bad or worse than any in the past 1,200 years, scientists say. Megadroughts – defined as intense droughts that last for decades or longer – once plagued the Desert Southwest. Thanks to global warming, an especially fierce one appears to be coming back: "We now have enough observations of current drought and tree-ring records of past drought to say that we're on the same trajectory as the worst prehistoric droughts," said study lead author A. Park Williams, a bioclimatologist at Columbia University, in a statement. This is “a drought bigger than what modern society has seen." This year is worse. you can chuck out all the past experiences, this is all new. like beating (lytton) a heat record by seven degrees. never happened since meterological record keeping began. anywhere. the general prediction, is extremes, worse drought, worse floods, and less sweet spot, moderate. the scientists been accurate on everything.... if anything, conservative.
  11. [Pelissero] The #Vikings are expected to be without three quarterbacks — including starter Kirk Cousins — for tonight’s practice after rookie Kellen Mond tested positive for COVID-19, per league sources. Cousins is a high-risk close contact. The team is going through contact tracing. cousins not vaccinated. other guy, same. mons, wont say. morons. update [Tomasson] The Vikings have started the process of looking to bring in another QB this week and I'm told a strong possible candidate now is Case Cookus, who was undrafted in 2020 out of Northern Arizona and spent some offseason time last year with Giants and with Broncos earlier this year. zimmer unhappy with his qb, and also adam thielen.
  12. frightening but not new. Tree of liberty has to be watered with blood. they like that idea. just not their blood. Not much doubt, violence is a core American value.
  13. book titled "none is too many" is about that subject. yeah you are right "The authors identify Frederick Blair, the head of immigration in William Lyon Mackenzie King's government, as a top official who opposed and limited Jewish immigration. They say that Blair's policy had the full support of Mackenzie King, who was prime minister 1935–48, Vincent Massey, the high commissioner to Britain,[3] and both Anglophone and Francophone elites in general." sadly people have been hating and killing Jews for a very long time. reading a book about the sectarian division between the Jews, and the Jewish sect that became Christianity. very interesting since I know nothing about it. Elaine Pagels author. "origins of satan"
  14. and prior to declaring war in europe, the americans also heavily supplied the british with arms. the other thing is at that time, there was a lot of support for the Nazis in America. father brown, german american bund. full nazi rally at madison square garden is something if you havent seen it.youtube has it.
  15. during the record heat on vancouver island a few weeks ago, someone posted on facebook that they went to help someone who had collapsed on the sidewalk. appeared to be heat related. they phoned for an ambulance, and were told, there would be no ambulance coming. there just wont ne money for what its going to cost to keep things even semi normal. have ndp green coalition here, and they are clueless asmthe cons liberals. there was a two and a half hour lineup for electic car fast charger the other day, while they spend two billion on a highway expansion for a five mile stretch of road near victoria. hasnt been a drop of rain on south van island for close to three months. net zero 2050, farce. pr for stupid people.
  16. infortunately it is going to be worse. a lot worse. ten years from now, the last few years will be "the good old days"
  17. the one percent does not feel threatened. although in fact they are. but polls indicate 60 percent of americans do feel threatened. politics as usual wont work. maybe you think it will, but I dont. sadly biden, pelosi, schumer think its good to negotiaite with insurrectionists. nonsense. there is no time left.
  18. the time for basing decisions about climate , energy around that, are long past. they have zero years left to do huge work. failure to do so..... just look up what the 14000 scientists are saying. at some point, leaders lead. That is their job. Americans had to be dragged and pushed into WW2. thank god roosevelt led, instead of fretting about polls and politics. we have reached that point on climate and are blasting past it. whole facking planet is burning and flooding.
  19. Biden and friends are happy cause they got a bipartisan agreement. on climate, it isnt ten percent of whats needed, but who cares, as long as there is bipartisanness. so much love with his good republican friends, cause thats what matters. shocking devlelopement, turns out Biden gets a lot of donations from oil. but no worries, the rest will get done "later" 😂 lets see if he has the Democratic votes to get this piece of used toilet paper passed. but mainstream democrats style is to kiss republican asses, and twist progressive democrat 's arms. same old shat while the world burns and floods.
  20. I hope Nelson can do something, I looked at his highlights video when first he came, thought he was very elusive and quick.
  21. not knowledgable by any means, but wont miss tucker poolman
  22. "The United States will return to Iraq some 17,000 archaeological treasures dating back 4,000 years and looted in recent decades, an "unprecedented" restitution, the culture minister in Baghdad said Wednesday. Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi was set to take back the artifacts from ancient Mesopotamia on his aircraft, when he returns Thursday from Washington where he met US President Joe Biden. "This is the largest return of antiquities to Iraq," said Iraqi Culture Minister Hassan Nazim, hailing it as "the result of months of efforts by the Iraqi authorities in conjunction with their embassy in Washington". well done. https://www.barrons.com/news/us-returns-to-iraq-treasure-trove-of-antiquities-baghdad-01627476907?tesla=y
  23. mike is nuts mike says biden will "quit in shame" 😂
  24. yeah, Pelosi, the person those very fine loving people wanted to hang. one of the people they were actually "hunting" for. puke. It is now time to drag Trump down to the hearing, and play the videos of the violence, his violence, to his face. thankful that he is such a dolt, or this would have worked.
