Pre Game Thread (Week 3 vs Montreal) w/ Depth Chart
Mark F replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't know what other people think, but if you ask me, Sam, or the strong side backer is the hot read for the QB. No one is assigned to block him. If he blitzes, the hot route should occupy the space he vacates. If it doesn't, either the play call or the pass protection needs to change. The QB is said to be "responsible" for the Sam blitz; a sack by that player is entirely on the QB. Who is read with the combo block can be slid to the right or the left, typically to the backside of the play. Here we see what can happen if it's slid to Will. found that on a college football site. -

"Miller, a 40-year-old security engineer at Twitter, and Valasek, the 31-year-old director of security intelligence at the Seattle consultancy IOActive, received an $80,000-plus grant last fall from the mad-scientist research arm of the Pentagon known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to root out security vulnerabilities in automobiles. As I drove their vehicles for more than an hour, Miller and Valasek showed that they’ve reverse-engineered enough of the software of the Escape and the Toyota Prius (both the 2010 model) to demonstrate a range of nasty surprises: everything from annoyances like uncontrollably blasting the horn to serious hazards like slamming on the Prius’ brakes at high speeds. They sent commands from their laptops that killed power steering, spoofed the GPS and made pathological liars out of speedometers and odometers. Finally they directed me out to a country road, where Valasek showed that he could violently jerk the Prius’ steering at any speed" One of the UCSD professors involved in those earlier tests, Stefan Savage, claims that wireless hacks remain possible and affect the entire industry: Given that attacks on driving systems have yet to be spotted outside of a lab, manufacturers simply haven’t fully secured their software, he says. “The vulnerabilities that we found were the kind that existed on PCs in the early to mid-1990s, when computers were first getting on the Internet,” says Savage." thanks guys both make a lot of sense. US attacked Iran with "student" " attack by US "Different variants of Stuxnet targeted five Iranian organizations,[17] with the probable target widely suspected to be uranium enrichment infrastructure in Iran;[16][18][19] Symantec noted in August 2010 that 60% of the infected computers worldwide were in Iran.[20] Siemens stated that the worm has not caused any damage to its customers,[21] but the Iran nuclear program, which uses embargoed Siemens equipment procured secretly, has been damaged by Stuxnet.[22][23] Kaspersky Lab concluded that the sophisticated attack could only have been conducted "with nation-state support".[24]This was further supported by the F-Secure's chief researcher Mikko Hyppönen who commented in a Stuxnet FAQ, "That's what it would look like, yes".[25] The new cars with much electronic control, are hackable, and someone not in the car, can take control of the car. You wonder about the planes. worst of course is the nuclear missiles. God help us if somebody insane figures out how to control those. Another problem, the outsourcing system has been adopted by US military, who now depend on other nations for parts for some of their equipment. "• The United States is completely dependent on a single Chinese company for the chemical needed to produce the solid rocket fuel used to propel HELLFIRE missiles. As current U.S. supplies diminish, our military will be reliant on the Chinese supplier to provide this critical chemical—butanetriol—in the quantities needed to maintain this missile system. HELLFIRE missiles are a widely used, reliable, and effective weapon launched from attack helicopters and unmanned drones. They are a critical component in America’s arsenal." how bout satellites? MIlitary satellites. Also I understand that the electrical grid is highly computerized. Atomic's right, it's everything.

CFL game notes {Westwood tweet up there on right side) are really good. Cotton and our line against Sutton and their line. -
any thoughts? Report denied by German government. http://europe.newsweek.com/german-missiles-hacked-by-foreign-source-329980 "A German missile system stationed on the Turkish-Syrian border was reportedly hacked by a "foreign source" and carried out "unexplained commands". The Patriot missiles, stationed on the Turkish side of the border under the Nato pact, were briefly taken over by an unidentified hacker, according to German civil service magazine Behörden Spiegel."

and…… we know what happened to the player, and that's ok, but we don't know anything about the ref, and that's also ok, cause refs don't make much money, and already take crap. doesn't persuade me, but thats ok too. -

I'm skeptical. Got an example? edit see you gave an example. That's one. maybe. being promoted after demoted doesn't sound like much punishment. And If there are consequences to the refs, they should let us fans know, might reduce the anger that people feel when refs like this one blow it so badly, and as far as I know, there is no consequence. If there is, tell us. Every body in football is subject to public criticism except the refs. Makes no sense to me. -
People liked Anderson pre injury. Maybe sometimes a player recovers enough to play again, but can't get back to the level they were at before injury. I noticed some of the CFL O lineman look bigger than ever, and more athletic, not fat/slow. It seems like the national O lineman, are better than in the past. maybe Bryant Turner is too small to be effective? Just watching on tv, It looks like the D line gets physically pushed around pretty easily.

There might be flaws in the concussion protocols. The whole area is new. I wouldn't let him play. it's too soon. -
That's just the kind of comment that led to the demise (or near demise) of OB.com. Too many ppl who knew too much who took their ball to a "more knowledgeable" forum. Don't think so. I know why I gave up on "our bombers", and it had nothing to do with the people that were thinking they were more knowledgeable. I don't want to see a bunch of threads about "O'Stubborn" and some of the other silly stuff that proliferated in the last few days. And I'm not "knowledgeable" I have no problem accepting that there are people who know a lot more about football than I do. Fortunately there are quite a few of them posting at this site. I appreciate reading the opinions of people that know something about what they're discussing. How anyone here can know whether or not Mike O'Shea is stubborn is beyond me. I actually have no interest in Mike's personality. More concerned about the team winning. right now its 1 and 1.

CFL Week 2 Other Games - CGY at MTL / BC at OTT / TOR at SSK
Mark F replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If the pass was to the other side of the receiver, the sideline shoulder, it wouldn't have been intercepted. At worst, the defender would have been out of bounds if he managed to pick it off, or easily pushed out. The tv guys love Glenn. Maybe that's part of it. Rider fans seem to sincerely think that ( fill in name here ) , their current starting quarterback, is the greatest ever. -
