Round 1 - Game 3 : Ducks @ Jets
Mark F replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
It would be nice if the Jets could get some shots on him, that would be a good test as well. Have to give the Ducks defense some credit. The plays I've noticed the Jets making to produce shots and goals, just aren't there. for instance Schiefle going over blueline along boards, cutting across to middle taking a shot. He hasnt been able to do that. Ducks were underrated. -
he should call Eli Manning.

Former Rider, correct? Anybody else wondering why we keep adding dbs? I know some are SAM candidates but seems like other areas are more important. Maybe the team wasn't happy with who we had last year.... or they found a bunch of them that are really good. just guessing.

Round 1 - Game 2 : Jets @ Anaheim

You're not getting that call in the last minute of regulation in the playoffs, regardless of who you are. Not getting the call cause it's last minute? Why? cause making the call affects the game? so does not making the call. complete lack of logic. like a few others things the NHL does. That's a stupid way to run a league. Not calling a penalty cause it's the playoffs, makes absolutely no sense. It's bush league. Another worthless vestige of old school minor league blood bath hockey in the NHL. Say what you want these refs, unintentionally are favouring one team. The games are very close. It's painfully obvious that it changes the result. At least the NFL refs have the guts to make a call. No matter when, or where. Which league is doing better ? -

unknown, and anyone else, (don't have to be a wrestling fan I'm not) this is very interesting non fiction book about a small wrestling group out of San Francisco, it's funny as all get out, but also, a lot of sorrow, library has it... "Beer, Blood, and Cornmeal, seven years of incredibly strange wrestling" "Incredibly Strange Wrestling was the bastard offspring of post-punk garage rock and masked Mexican lucha libre. Fielding a cast of crazed characters with names like El Homo Loco, Macho Sasquatcho and El Pollo Diablo, the show lived up to its name. Christians fought lions, Ku Klux Klowns squared off against Hasidic Jews and Bigfoots and bears mauled hapless hippies in some of the most surreal grappling bouts ever staged. In this fine punk-wrestling memoir, combining aspects of punk tour diary, independent wrestling reportage, and cultural critique, Calhoun deploys his satirical gifts upon himself, his fellow grapplers, San Francisco hipsterism, and the country at large, always to hilarious and thought-provoking effect. As the book opens in early 90's San Francisco, Calhoun, fed on an intellectual diet of Marvel comics, monster movies, and pro wrestling, is a striving loser whose stated ambitions are for nothing more than local celebrity - some color to brighten the drab modern American existence of commuting and wage-earning. He leads a band in the persona of a mail-order martial arts huckster from comic book ads, works his way through the San Francisco club scene, and in time falls in with a crowd of urban niche hipsters, the punk/greaser retro-gearhead founders of Incredibly Strange Wrestling. Conceived partly as a tribute to/ripoff of Mexican-style pro wrestling" -

I thought Meyers and Trouba both played really well. -
Thought I saw Subban club a guy over the head earlier in the game. I don't like watching Subban play at all. And I don't think he's nearly as good as I keep hearing people say he is.

good old days ? Do you long for more boarding, cross checking, hooking, holding and slow players hacking at the legs of the faster guys? That's what made me stop watching hockey. I'm really glad to see that they stopped that stuff.

The Jets can go pretty far. They are the equal of any of the teams, they've already shown that. Montreal .... hope they lost first series, I don't like them at all. Right now, looking pretty useless against Ottawa, and whining about every call, non call. The Great Subban is not that great. Wild, also could do very well. I think the Wild will beat St Louis.

People tend to ignore facts that negate their opinion. First form your opinion, then look for facts that support it. or better still, don't bother with any facts. Just the opinion. -

White Cop Shoots Black Man, Charged With Murder

"CHICAGO - Victims of police torture under former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge would share $5.5 million, receive an apology and see their story taught in school under a reparations package proposed Tuesday that city leaders hope will help close one of the most shameful chapters in Chicago's history. More than 100 people who have accused Burge and officers under his command of shocking them with cattle prods, beating them with phone books and suffocating them with bags until they gave false confessions over nearly two decades ending in 1991. The $5.5 million adds yet more money to more than $100 million that has been paid in court-ordered judgments, settlements of lawsuits and legal fees." "At the same time, the city took steps to make sure what Burge and his infamous "midnight crew" did to suspects — most of them African-American — to extract confessions is not forgotten." today's Canadian Press. sheds some light on why african americans are afraid of police. comments welcomed. -

"North Carolina police say they have proof a 17-year-old Latino teen, whose hands were cuffed behind his back, fatally shot himself in the head last year. Durham police today released the preliminary findings of their internal investigation into the death of Jesus Huerta as he sat in the back of a police car on November 19. Police said evidence clears officers of any wrongdoing, as an autopsy report revealed Huerta died from a gunshot wound to the face at close range."
