Obama wanted to keep his soldiers in Iraq. But they wouldn't stay without immunity from Iraqi law. The Iraqis wouldn't give that. And it was impossible to get a vote passed in Iraq legislature allowing and extension of American troops; the Americans were forced to leave. Obama for public consumption could not admit these facts. They now have a billion dollar embassy in Iraq, their largest in the world, which is basically empty. "As the senior Pentagon official responsible for Iraq policy during the first three years of the Obama administration, I had a front-row seat for the internal deliberations over how to end the war. Through the first half of 2011, there was a vigorous debate within the administration about whether U.S. forces should remain in Iraq beyond December, and if so, in what numbers and with what missions. Ultimately, at great political risk, President Obama approved negotiations with the Iraqi government to allow a force of around 5,000 American troops to stay in Iraq to provide counterterrorism support and air cover and to train the Iraqi army. But, as commander in chief, he was unwilling to strand U.S. forces in a hostile, anti-American environment without the legal protections and immunities required to ensure soldiers didn’t end up in Iraqi jails. These protections, which are common in nearly every country where U.S. forces operate, were guaranteed under the 2008 status of forces agreement negotiated by the Bush administration; Obama simply demanded that they continue under any follow-on accord." The market has spoken - SUN News Network has shutdown
Mark F replied to blueandgoldguy's topic in General Discussion
I read that they lost many millions on this network. 5000 people? wow. lucky to have lasted four years. Somebody really wanted them to succeed. -
Yes he does. While he was in office, ethnic cleansing of sunni Muslims occurred in Bagdhad. The city, is now divided up into enclaves of sunni, shia muslims. And Christians? There is no safe place for them now in Iraq. not to mention "Mahdi, the former Vice-President, (Iraq0 told me that almost two hundred and twenty billion dollars had been allocated to some six thousand projects for which little or no work has been done."

This is, without any doubt at all, the stupidest thing that's been done, in any way, in any sport, in my life.

guess I changed out the part of my comment you're probably replying to iso ….

When it comes to money, there aren't many countries, or businesses, or individuals, that have much of an issue with anything.

There are Lots of articles online about Portis. They all seem to agree, he was good enough athletically to be an NFL Q.B. and there's Marve. Not Glenn.

yup interesting reading on an illegal arms merchant, the book "merchant of death" story of Viktor Bout is really good. Headquarters were Dubai, a centre of all that you mention.

Lemieux senior….. I seem to recall that he was really tough, and a bit of a s##t disturber. Am I remembering right? A guy who really annoyed other teams? If that's right, maybe his son has a bit of that in him….. Re: deleting some comments….. I really like the idea of deleting posts/comments that refer to things about people/players/ anyone… that are unproven. i.e. malicious gossip. If that's what was done, good.

USA has been bombing parts of the middle east continuously, since 1990. Al Quaeda, was, created by the USA, starting with Carter, in Afganistan, "Shortly before his untimely death, former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook told the House of Commons that “Al Qaeda” is not really a terrorist group but a database of international mujaheddin and arms smugglers used by the CIA and Saudis to funnel guerrillas, arms, and money into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan." This is widely known and not really disputed anymore. After the American military went into Afghanistan, in 2002, Al Quaeda was destroyed. But then, for reasons unknown, the Americans invaded Iraq, where there was no Al Quaeda. The ruthless Iraqi dictator Hussein, was their enemy, and was able to keep them out of that country. Americans Overthrew him, and allowed in "Al Quaeda in Iraq" The invasion is set to cost USA 6 trillion dollars, according to a nobel prize winning economist who analysed that issue. some people, think that ISIL was created by Saudi Arabia. One thing's for sure, It's been great time to be in the arms business.

can't argue with you Mike, (due to my relative lack of knowledge and information) except that if our O line is where help is needed most, (which is what Ive heard for a long time around here) get help there, whether or not a player for a particular position is available
-
Somebody on another thread, and Troy Westwood this A.M mentioned that Dile (sp) was injured a lot in the last two seasons Which means they need to get another O lineman in the draft.
-
Not really he bit on Buff looking off and then putting it on the net... it was a great move by Buff. the game could of been easily 4 - 1 if not for some great saves by Dubnyk yeah, i got that wrong, the coach was speaking in the superlative about the play and the shot.
-
ok , Maybe I didn't see it right then, I thought it was in the middle. I guess he's not the quickest goalie.
-
I think MR. Dee meant get an o lineman. I can tell by the left justify he used. I am hoping for an O lineman.
-
tough game. great win. their goalie is 6 foot 5? don't know about that winning goal, he probably should have had that one.

Mark F replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
some great "tick tack toe" goals best goal: back pass left side of colorado net, to a guy behind him to front left of net, then across for tap in….. that was a nice one. wowser! also the empty net with two or three minutes left was good. wpg goalie made some really tough saves. -
I noticed a few posts here from someone with the posting name "Shanks" or something similar. One or two posts maybe. hmmm……

Chris Matthews may not have punched his NFL ticket just yet ...
Mark F replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We also saw him make the exact same kind of catches when he was with the Bombers. As you said, his performance was no fluke. People are reluctant to believe a CFL player can succeed in the NFL? What about Browner? jeeze louise
