  1. last post game show he told Bob his job is to keep the team pumped up. which is true. Hard to do that when you're being asked to explain all the things you've done wrong. Also, he's probably not looking forward to having to fire some people after the season is over. He's never had to do that before. I'm sure he's up to it. Nothing wrong with reporters asking about it either, that's their job.
  2. Will Burriss play again? He doesn't look consistent at all. Their backup seemed to play better. Maher misses 29 yard field goal. wow. wonder if they want him back. Hirim v. Maher. One very good decision the coaches made. not bad for first year team, Ottawa is very close to being a good team.
  3. Thought I saw that cat in the photo earlier in the thread, in the crowd at the last game. holding up a sign I think.
  4. Go RedBlacks! Thanks ! good pre game analysis. I want to watch this game, but Ottawa does some good things, then fumbles, and gives up a kick return td. Hamilton offence not looking so hot. OBrien looked very good, till he got clobbered. Burriss… looks like he won't be a number one any more. I guess people are out trick or treating or something….. Go Redblacks!
  5. cause Darrien Durant's brother got hurt "IRVING — Justin Durant won’t play again this season. The Dallas Cowboys placed the weakside linebacker on the season-ending injured reserve list Wednesday, less than 48 hours after he tore his right biceps in a 20-17 overtime loss to Washington on Monday. Durant’s roster spot was filled by Tim Dobbins, a linebacker who has played eight seasons in the NFL, had stints with four teams and started 22 games in his career. He has been out of the league since August, when he was cut by Atlanta. He made his practice debut Wednesday. For the Cowboys, the loss of Durant is considerable. He leads the team with 61 tackles. He also has forced two fumbles and made an interception."
  6. what's wrong with criticizing refs? owners, managers, coaches, players, all get criticized. why should the refs be above everyone else? This makes no sense. I've never understood the thinking. Totally agree with iso_55. This year in particular, they are ruining the games. Watching games I don't even care about they cause me to lose interest. The game is not about the refs. The less we see them the better.
  7. there's a difference between being a fan, and not enjoying watching a team allow 70 sacks, and letting the opponent run over you, trample you at the end of games, and all the rest of it. who the hell enjoys that? seriously. I am still a fan, I always will be. but the crap we've been getting the last few years, is not enjoyable. At this point the best part of following the bombers is this board, and the chat during games. I would also add that while Burke was probably too honest, Oshea's media interviews leave something to be desired for me.
  8. cause someone said something like "play the fourth stringer, Philpott or whatever his name is" a few says ago, and it became a joke to a couple of people including me
  9. tampa bay buccaneers are pretty bad team this year.
  10. I want to see what philpott can do, maybe put him in after marve sees some action. I think he's on the cusp.
  11. thanks!
  12. We want Philpot!!!
  13. Free Press article "With the 10 quarterback kills, the Bombers set a franchise record for sacks allowed in a season, at 70 and counting. The old record was 67." wow. explanations given at morningbigblue…. bad line, indecisive, inaccurate, injured, shell shocked quarterback, poor play calling, receivers not open, wrong decision Grigsby / Cotton. or, it's the defence. It's Etche's fault. Cause we can't stop the run. or something. I for one, do not understand the current by the book thinking that "you can't pull the starting qb" everyone knows all of the examples of having two quarterbacks, and sitting one at least for a while during a game. Clements /Huffnagle. worked out OK. Why can't we do that? This is one of the more puzzling things about the way the team is coached. Bob said the head coach was mulling doing that, putting in Marve. I would like to hear him say why he didn't. What was the thinking?
  14. just based on the impression from Paul Lapolice, when he was coach, sideline, and the rest of it, I will go ahead and guess that he's probably really good at endless self analysis about what he did wrong. agree, his article is not about what he did right and wrong. Why should he write about that anyway? No shortage of people to take care of explaining what he did wrong, as shown above. go bombers!
  15. thanks, good article.
  16. There's a good article about him at a vikings blog. http://vikingsterritory.com intercepted five passes in one game. (didn't Rod get five in one game?) he sure looks good, he's getting up there isn't he?. Glad the Bombers did this, well deserved. thanks for the link
  17. Bob asked Oshea about this. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I recall that he said there are always two or three plays called, and it's willy's decision which one he goes with. as an explanation for the long throws on short yardage. Not sure what the solution is there.
  18. All things being equal, a CFL starter ought to win a Grey Cup every eight or nine years, so Allen won them at a pretty good clip. I'm trying to think of guys who did better in Grey Cups than Allen: Moon, obviously, went 5-0 in Grey Cups over six seasons, though he didn't start in two of those wins. Flutie was 3-1 in eight seasons. Ray has gone 3-0 in twelve seasons, not counting 2014. Calvillo was 3-5 in twenty seasons. McManus was 3-2 in seventeen seasons, but had only garbage time in the 1990 win and came off the bench for the 1994 win. He played a hell of a game in the '96 loss though. I think I agree with the people who are saying that Damon Allen that he was a B+ QB with an A+ career. But if I had to choose a starter for a Grey Cup game, it'd be a tough call between him, Ray, Flutie, or Moon. And Moon and Flutie had stacked teams for their wins. Allen won the Grey Cup with good teams, but never dominating ones. great analysis, well done and thanks. I can't say if Flutie was better, or Moon, but the first time I saw Flutie, at the old stadium, I thought right away, best player in the history of the CFL. There was a good "A football life" show done on Doug Flutie last night, on NFL network. Well worth it if you are/were a fan.
  19. Some of these are just weird. Think that's what you meant.
  20. laugh of the day right there!
  21. also, on all time greats, people ignore Wilkie "He first led the Eskimos to a Grey Cup victory in 1975, after losses in the championship game in 1973 and 1974. After quarterbacking the Eskimos during one more Grey Cup loss in 1977, Wilkinson became part of the 5-time Grey Cup champion Eskimo dynasty from 1978 through 1981, the last two years acting as a backup to Moon." re 23 years, that I think is part of what makes Damon exceptional. same as Gordie Howe. Favre. Peyton Mannning. Haley Wikenheiser. etc. players that can't survive are players that might have been great. In sports longevity is part of greatness. anyway, glad to see I'm not the only one that sees Damon Allen as one of the great CFL quarterbacks. good discussion.
  22. How many of those people have four grey cup rings? I know Lancaster finally got one. Putting him ahead of a guy that has four is nonsensical. The reason Dan Marino is NEVER mentioned in discussion of the great NFL quarterbacks, is cause he has Zero Super Bowl rings. The greatest NFL quarterbacks are always the guys with the most rings. with one exception. For some reason here, 4 league championships means little. You can think up every excuse you want, name any shortcoming real or imagined, you're still wrong. four rings. You guys are hilarious.
  23. Maybe you've heard of Randall Cunningham: (or was he average and lucky too) “He (Damon Allen) and I are almost exactly the same player,” added Cunningham, who played 16 seasons in the N.F.L. “The only difference is I’m 6-4. And I’m now about 225 pounds. But he could have done a lot of the things that Marcus Allen did — as a quarterback. And he could have done everything I did. Maybe better.” Damon Allen replaced your hero Matt Dunigan in the Grey Cup when the Eskimos getting beaten. Damon brought them back to win it. It is truly idiotic to say Damon Allen was anything other than a hall of fame Q.B. can't see the forest for the trees sometimes eh folks?
  24. The general lack of respect for Damon Allen is hard to understand. especially coming from people that seem to know something about football x's and o's
