Grey Cup & Banjo Bowl Temporary Stands
LeBird replied to AtlanticRiderFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't think the fans are cheap. I would lay money they are not rushing to buy Grey Cup tickets because: 1- The pricing policy and 2- The prospect of the team not being a participant. I would suggest the club has gotten a lot more than it deserves considering the effort it has put into getting a competitive team on the field. It has alienated many very good fans we would see at the games who have just given up and moved on to other interests. When was the last time you saw a well produced commercial promoting the Bombers? Nah! The fans in Winnipeg aren't cheap, they are just being taken for granted and more and more are spending their entertainment budget somewhere else. -
What do they mean when they say he sets with a narrow base? Feet together? Good with the other except this team is starting to give us the willies.

Grey Cup & Banjo Bowl Temporary Stands
LeBird replied to AtlanticRiderFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And that's the problem. At the last Grey Cup here we paid the full amount to keep our season's ticket seats. Later they were discounting the tickets. It sure does not make you feel good to see that happening. If I were to go again I would not buy it six weeks before but wait and get the cheap price. Don't call me cheap, call me a guy who did not appreciate being rolled. -
As Margaret Atwood would say: "He beat Brohm by a hair".

Are the linemen sleeping? On an occasion each teams had receivers yards offside.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC

The way the players rallied around Bowman who was a healthy scratch at the beginning of the game did show there was a problem in the room. -

Does that mean I should stop baiting my gopher traps with Taman's pictures? Must fool them into thinking that napkin must have some jam on it. -
The way BC played last night it seems we only have to beat them once. I don't think losing Eliminian would have have that much of a difference. Between the run defence and ST they actually looked a lot worse than us.

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, the good thing is we have him here right now so if he works out we have a leg up on the other guys looking at him. Should we get him to play which is what he wants things should work out for next year. -

Let me be clear about this. They must have overpaid to get him to sign. -
I thought after a coffee it would be a No. 1. Why bring back anything we had looked at before and rejected? With Willy hurt we have room to look at him. What's one's garbage ends up being another person's gold after a little polish. Not like we're giving up a pile of cash.

I like what we didn't have to give up to get him. Yes dear, there is a Santa Claus. -
I confess some confusion here on my part. That team was with us in 1992 - tied for first in the east at 11-7. And there was two separate paths taken, as we went 14-4 and 13-5 in the seasons that followed, while they were a combined 10-26. Perhaps I am reading your post incorrectly. The picking up of their bootstraps included a 1-17 season. Nonetheless, while the Ticats are in the midst of an upswing, and good on them for it, the idea that this is the franchise we should model the Bombers after is laughable to me. It is the one franchise that hands down over the last 25 years has been worse than us. Sorry, I meant we were both at 6-12 in 2012.

Possibly because the guy would need it if he got him. -
In the days of Swaggerville nobody seem to mind so much. That team was with us in 2012 as cellar dwellers. Where we have gone merrily on our way mucking in the dirt they have picked their boot straps and have become possibly the best team. Like everything else you don't become the best by just showing up at practice. You have to work hard at it and with Austin take a lot of crap. Let them enjoy their day in the sun. We're next. Edited to correct year from 1992 to 2012

The reason for the inexperience is due to the fact the HC wasted the last seven weeks using a has been hobo to take second reps. Marve comes in as a rookie with not much chemistry with the guys he has to work with. I'm not too sure what O'Shea meant when talking of Marve being outside the system but let's just hope Brohm is done here.

Trying to be too cute. Going East-West is good for VIA not so much for a kick returner.

Turnovers? We are on the cusp of setting new cfl record for the fewest turnovers in a season. That's right friends, old record is 25, riders will shatter that as we are on route to a 5 turnover season. Just kidding, for sure with young qb's, turnovers are the biggest fear. Smith has looked good for us and then the ole pic-6 showed its face last week. Hey Ripper, Got to admire your sense of humour under the circumstances. -
[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch 3.0 Has Ended
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Some times you get into a battle and realize rather quickly it's a hopeless case because you are out gunned and out maneuvered. Either you do the brave thing and sacrifice your trusty captain or you pull him to safety to fight again. You might have lost the battle but now we most likely have lost the war. Before he got his last shot it had become apparent nothing good was going to happen to him. These guys were coming at him untouched and that was not going to change. Which is worst for the players? How much better do they feel today about the rest of the year? Any player who did not realized what happened was all but inevitable was not paying attention. Proud but dead and so unnecessary. -

So he'll be back for the playoffs and the Grey Cup. So we should make sure we save him a good ticket -

Possibly a bad choice of words. What I meant was he's not a piece of Sh&t as then I would have been talking about someone else. -

No matter how Willy will be I don't think it would be good to talk about a new regime. However, it's bloody well time to talk about the responsibility these coaches and players have to prepare and play better in protecting him. -
[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch 3.0 Has Ended
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It is truly disheartening to sit and watch a treasure getting destroyed because those who were supposed to protect him were not ready to do so. It is very hard to stay positive when the thought of losing him is becoming more and more real. These guys develop a game plan and etch it in stone so that no one will change it. When we tried to blitz, we got to pay for it big time. I realize Willy is not a scrambler but neither was AC.
