Don't you hate guys who can't make up their mind? Montreal...BC... make up your mind Willy! Great tourtière or great weather.

Do you see the Bombers making big splashes to make the 2015 G.C. ?
LeBird replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Seriously? They will pry Kuale out of my cold dead hands says Mikey. -
Hey, if the next game is not on regular tv and you find a stream would you please post it. Thanks

Congrats on a great season Saskatchewan ...

Yeah for the Riders!!! Watching Joseph play made me think of Bishop's last game here against The Cats. I guess all that Champagne they bought after the Banjo Bowl will now go to waste along with the "RR - Grey Cup Champs 23014" T shirts. Oh well, it will be only seven months of Ferri's clean hit, That was PI and Proulx is just terrible and gave them the game. Somehow today, our year doesn't feel so bad sort of. -
Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yea Lawless seems to have quite a bit of influence when it comes to the Bombers. Give a guy who's job is to write for the masses a pen/keyboard and he becomes someone to be reckoned with. Like trials conducted in the press. -
Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Haha Gary Lawless is a *****. That aside, do you agree with him or not? Etch was running the defense and it was not by any stretch a piece of art. It just could be Miller and Walters will make the decision for him. -

care to give a recap of what makes you feel that way? I didn't catch it.Well I recommend trying to listen to it. But from what I recall, he talked about how much the inability to stop the run hurt us this season. He provided stats on that too...seems like he's clearly done his homework/analysis. He suggested O'Shea knows the run D is a problem but that O'Shea protects the coaches during the season; that was part of his plan going into the season. Said figuring out the coaching staff is his and O'Shea's first priority now; to me that says there's uncertainty there. It would appear he and O'Shea are not on the same page regarding the cost of not stopping the run. While many here were saying stopping the running game was a real problem O'Shea and many others here argued that was not really a problem as in so what? Protecting the coaches? If the coaches need to be babied get a freaking shrink and let the coach to concentrate on winning games. What the heck is this? Walters knows there's a real problem with stopping the run but does not do anything because it might rattle his coach, the coach sooner loose games while protecting his coaches and so the fans are left sucking off the hind T, again. At some point some will have to stop making excuses and just admit for this year O'Shea was just not ready but might have taken the opportunity to learn. We have to hope. I think you misinterpreted Walter's explanation, he's basically saying that O'Shea knew and knows there's a problem stopping the run but would not admit so publicly in order to protect his players and his coaches. O'Shea's style is to keep everything under wraps, which may be good for the football club but pisses off fans and media alike. Much like a politician open and honest communication is just not his style. Not having the clips available I'm not in a position to argue with you. However, I'm having a problem with your statement the fans were pissed off because he kept everything under wraps. To this point I agree with you but while keeping everything under wraps he did not do much to fix some big problems. He replaced Gribsby way too late and Keale only after he got hurt. His reaction time might have cost us a playoff position. Having said that I think the fans sent him and his bosses a pretty strong message at the last two games and I am sure they understood. -

Well that is why we are where we are and Calgary is where it is. You get what you pay for along with the excuses. -
Section S and the beer snake returns!
LeBird replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So you really believe Miller is not committed to putting a better team on the field? It would appear not quite as much as bringing in the beer snake since that was his first public item of business. Don't you agree if they don't take this rebuilding seriously it will take a lot more than beer snakes to sell tickets? I don't care about beer snakes, I just don't want to keep hearing it will take another two years when we have heard that for years. Hamilton got it done in one year even after suspending Chris Williams and Edmonton who were with us last year could end up 13-5. the beer snake was brought up because they put out the season ticket renewal info and obviously some sections will be a bit different next year. Wait until the end of the freakin regular season before going nuts about about the moves he isn't making for next yeah. Oh sorry, I guess I forgot we were playing this week but can't remember who. So why did Miller not wait until the end of the year? According to you if it only happens next year why announce it today? -
Section S and the beer snake returns!
LeBird replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's cleary one or the other for these two options. Mutually exclusive. Next they'll have to decide if they're having cheerleaders or fireworks. There can be only one. Terrific idea! Seeing they were unable to do the one on the field they're doing the other. -
Section S and the beer snake returns!
LeBird replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You are definitively right about that. Like everything else once it loses its tv coverage it will be one to something else. I would have expected Miller to say something like:"We have raised the price of some tickets to help us better the product we put on the filed. Further to present a fun atmosphere to the youthful fans we will relax some policies." -

Great marketing ploy I guess. Just wondering if any of the fanatics as they are called stayed away for the last two years. Here another great one which Miller might consider which might be a novelty here, a decent team on the field? -
How sweet that is! He actually made two changes that counted but way, way too late.. Cotton and Sears came in just when we were to go into the hardest part of the schedule. The timing was like those who decided to rearrange chairs on the deck. Good reasoning though! We have a head coach who knows damned well who the better players are but is unwilling to play them because the OK guys had won 5 games and lost many close ones. So we keep our better players for when exactly? And, Sears came in only because the King of useless and penalties got hurt.

A win in 2001, 2007 or 2011 would have done great things for the team because it would have cleared a lot of the angst away from some people and there wouldn't be that pressure heaped on the team because of it. In your words that's bullshit. So we should be happy because we night have won three times in 24 years? We did lose a cup to a lesser team but guess what? We played in the game. I just can't get my head around the position of some who feel not having been in the cup for 24 years is no big deal. So why do we play the game? and I said that where? I said a win in one of those games would have relieved a lot of angst and there would be less pressure on the organization because it wouldn't have been 24 years since the last championship! That's all. Stop trying to read more into a comment than is there. Honestly, some people... I appears you might have a problem reading? I know what you said and what I wrote was whether we should be happy with that followed by a ""?"" That hardly meant I was reading anything else in you opinion. Than after stating a fact about loosing to Calgary I then posted an opinion about what I feel is a strange reaction of some to the last 24 years. Your obligation in this case would have been either ignore the post or to answer the question instead of assuming it was an attack on your statement. I'm sure you know what a ? stands for, right? You might be just too hung up on one thing. Did you ever think of going to diner, going to the theater, volunteering, visiting friends on a football night or going on a trip to where the Bombers don't even exist during the season? All that can be a whole lot of fun. You would find out being a fan should not become an obsession. With PVR you would not miss a thing and if you did so what? you could still make up facts.

Heenan & Holmes won't re-sign before free agency
LeBird replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The rigors of a 20 game season might have caught up to him this year but getting him and another genuine oline starter would be the medicine that would cure most critics. Now if the real Turner comes back next year and we find a good pass rusher that would go a long way to fix that line. -

and do you understand why that was? You know how undesirable a place you are for coaches when the average head coach gets 2 or 3 seasons before being fired and coordinators are lucky to get 1? Which proven coordinators do you suppose would want to come here if we fired the ones we have this year? You guys know that the lack of stability in the coacing and GM ranks is the reason guys like Stubler decided not to come here? This happens in other cities and yet they have no problem hiring quality coordinators and coaches afterwards. Ie Toronto, Hamilton, Montreal, Edmonton, Saskatchewan...pretty much the whole league actually. Does it? BC has been pretty stable with Wally as GM and his guys taking over after him, Hufnagel has been in Calgary for a long time running things, Popp has been in Montreal forever, Barker in Toronto for a long time... Saskatchewan had some turmoil for a while and it got them into a tricky spot but now it's stable again. The Bombers though? 4 different Gms in the past 7 seasons and 5 head coaches in that same time frame. You wonder why we can't get anyone with a proven track record to come here? It's basically been a guarantee to have your reputation trashed. Are we to assume the people we fired have done well in other cities after being fired here? That's what I'm saying, guys who were considered some of the best assistant coaches in the league came here and now are lucky to get work elsewhere. Winnipeg has a reputation of chewing up coaches and spitting them out and leaving them almost unemployable. That's why we need to stick with these guys again. They were not so bad as to warrant dismissal. When I look at this team I see bigger problems with the roster make up than with coaching. So keep the coaches, get that stability and work on getting better players on the team and see where that takes us. If we get to the point where the roster looks really good and the coaches aren't pulling their weight then we can make changes, but right now the roster has too many holes. Tell us where you get all that stuff! Kelly, La Police Burke and even O'Shea had never been a head coach before because no one else thought they might be head coach material. So it would be fair to say we chewed and spat out what we bit into in the first place. We have pretty good stability at the present but it's a losing stability. Furthermore, the head coaches we fired were not hired by other teams because they looked like the had suffered a complete lobotomy in Winnipeg. They were just not good enough to be a head coach. O'Shea was interviewed for the heading coaching job in Sask in 2011 when Marshall was hired. I know its been a tough season, but to say no one see's O'Shea as head coaching material is untrue. He is respected I believe around the league. I think you took the O'Shea reference out of context. I guess the sentence was poorly written. The "They was meant to reference those who were fired as we had been talking about. I have never called for O'Shea to be fired this year but I think he and his group have to show some improvement.

Kool aid might be good for some but as you grow older you sort of migrate to the Show Me State of Missouri. We are not so ready to accept opinions that are presented as facts and defended as such. So while attempting to challenge the option the thread quickly spirals into negativity with one claiming to be the defender of the faith and the other branded a negatron. Homers tend to make more excuses while negatron tend to use too wide a brush.

Just wondering how much the board is laughing uproariously after they found out the club had lost over half a mil because the ones who know nothing about the game did not bother showing up for the last two games. But again, thinking about how things have gone in the past you might be right.
-
It's OK, not all fans are created equal, some people just aren't as much of a fan as others and can only support a winner. No shame in being less of a fan than the rest of us. All the fans who have purchased tickets for the last 24 years but still want a team that will be at least 9-9 would strongly disagree with your comment. Being willing to accept poor performances and failure every year would never work in any other business and definitively does not make one a better fan. What's the incentive for the club to get better if all were to accept its failure. A company would not wait one and a half year to decide whether you're good or not. Let's face it, we hired HC's that had no experience and have paid them handsomely while they were learning and perhaps becoming good at their job. Seems we never learn so we get stuck having to wait into the next year to see if the training has pay off. If it hasn't we start again with a new rookie and promises things will be better this time. No, those who while not accepting what is happening but still showing up are the real fans, not those who drank the kool-aid because Jimmy Jones told them to. All I am saying is if you aren't buying season tickets because the team isn't winning you aren't that much of a fan. If I lived in Winnipeg I'd be buying season tickets every year and it wouldn't even be a question. So who said the fans were not buying tickets because the team was not winning. After having been screwed for all these years I think the Winnipeg/Manitoba fan is exemplary. Remember, a fan does not have a seat on the BOD table so he just can't walk up and say:"You guys's system stinks." The only way he can express his displeasure is by using his cash to do something else on game day. The Bomber Club does not have an inherent right to expect fans to show up, it's a privilege it must earn but for years it's a privilege it has enjoyed on credit. Good for you for wanting to be at the game, that would make you another of the 28,000 or so who were there this year. Discount the last two games when many fans decided to speak to the Board. I would actually pay money to listen to the giant burst of laughter that would erupt from the board room if you walked up to them and said that. The hilarity would be infectious... Hence the 24 year drough
