With all this hype (well deserved it sounds) over Brady Oliveira. I wonder how the team will fit him on the roster? Will he and Harris split the reps, will he be more of a blocking back or come in as an extra receiver? He's definitely the real thing but how do we get all this talent on the field?

Some of you guys sound like my grumpy ol' grand dad. The team obviously had their reasons but I'm sure it wasn't part of some grandiose conspiracy theory. Maybe the player figured out leaving his family for 5 months, being paid in cdn dollars, paying rent in Canada and in the US, plus other expenses and limiting his job opportunities in the US as he can't commit to a full time job. Just isn't worth it. Lets concern ourselves with who's here and not who's not.

any word on why thompkins was suspended? He showed pretty well last season.

Do all the rookies that attended rookie camp make it to the main camp? Or will there be cuts today?

Can't wait till we can close this thread and start the regular season thread. No work stoppage, rookie camp is coming up and this team feels like it's loaded with talent.

If you look at our recent playoff losses it's been the offence that's let us down. Lapo is predictable and is considered an average OC when compared to guys like Dave Dickinson. Dickinson can adjust on the fly and exploit the other teams defensive weaknesses. Lapo just keeps doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result.

I wish I could believe that. IMHO Lapo is the weak link within our coaching staff.

I don’t have an issue with these positive team produced fluff pieces. My issue is that we get our hopes up and all these prospects fizzle out or just aren’t difference makers. When was the last time one of our receivers was courted by and jumped to the NFL? That right there is an indictment on our scouting of receivers.

That's nice and everything but how many times have we got our hopes up for a import receiver coming to cmp to see them either not make it thru rookie camp or getting released early in to camp. So Colin you're bang on! Every other team has found at least 1 or 2 really good receivers in the past couple of seasons. It is a problem and I've said it for the last couple of years that we need to make some changes to our scouting staff.

It appears that based on Loffler's salary expectations and our cap limitations, he's more than likely going to sign elsewhere. And quite frankly the return the last couple of seasons has been disappointing. I'd rather go cheap at the safety position if that means we could sign a game changing receiver. Maybe we could find a stud safety in the draft this year but I honestly believe that Hecht could fill the safety position. IIRC he played the position in Calgary and no one can question his drive.

It might have had to due with the fact that they had 5 injured receivers.

I thought it was "******* Canadians". I don't buy Dickinson's explanation for 1 second. He knew what he was saying and it had nothing to do with the talent level of our Nationals.

If mike Reilly does decide to become a free agent. Why wouldn’t he be interested in Winnipeg? Good supporting cast. Management seems to be well respected. Fanbase is strong and we have the nicest stadium in the league. Does he want to go to Toronto or Montreal and play in front of empty stands?

To me it looked like we took the offensive game plan from a week earlier and hoped it would exact the same result. Unfortunately the two opponents couldn't been more different. That's entirely on Lapo.

Given how Dressler was used this year. I can see Peterman, Simonise or Demski filling that role.

Sounds like the same beefs year after year. I have no concerns with Walters or O'Shea but the inability to find game changer players is a real concern and that lies at the feet of the scouts. And the scouts report to Walters. But Walters has done enough in other areas to save his job. But something has to change. Recruiting US players is going to get even more difficult with the new spring league that this time seems to be legitimate and well funded. The best off season move would be Lapo securing a HC job somewhere but I just don't see that happening.

Not managements decision. I believe that was forced upon us.

So you would have been ok if we missed the playoffs?

I say no to dressler. Not worth the money and we need to shift that money to a proven free agent receiver who can stretch the field.

Where does everyone think Bo Levi is going? I've heard some talk that there's been some NFL interest. I don't see him leaving the Stamps for anything other than the NFL. But I'm skeptical he'll get anything more than just an invite to camp. Is that enough to walk away from a good thing in the CFL and take a chance he gets injured while at camp?

Potential for large bonuses? There's the risk right there. The CFL is a passing league and until Streveler proves he's a passing QB that can also run. I'll stick with the guaranteed base salary vs. the potential for large bonuses.
