When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)
B-F-F-C replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hope the experiment ends today. There has to be somebody that can take his spot. -
Holy ****...if I hadn't watched the game. I would have thought we lost based on the comments in this thread. Never happy. The Argo offence didn't put up a single point on us. TSN fooled me too. I had to work today, so I recorded it on TSN 1. Came home to find out the game was already in the late stages of the 3rd quarter. Luckily, Telus allows you to go back and restart the game. The only bad part is you cant skip forward. So I had to watch all those Ikea commercials. Looking for a BIG game next week at home.

When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)
B-F-F-C replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Since game 2 I've being saying that the next game is going to be Bowman's break out game. Then I thought, now that Nichols is back, the two of them will rekindle the chemistry they use to have in edmonton. I've got noting else to pin my hopes on. So now I'm at the point where I'm wondering if we should move Bowman in to the middle and see if that makes a difference. Other than that it might be time to sit him and let someone else get an opportunity. -
Game Day Thread- Week Five: Winnipeg @ BC July 14, 2018
B-F-F-C replied to Wanna-B-Fanboy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lapo has done this before. In this case he wasn't out coached by the opposition d coordinator. He was out coached by himself. He over thinks the game and makes it more difficult than it needs to be. There's a reason why the tried tested and true has worked for years. But he thinks he's some offensive genius and he out thinks himself. I'm a little surprised at the vitriol being directed at Nichols. Yes he played poorly but a good OC would recognize that and adjust the play calling to play to what the offence is giving up, vs. playing a higher risk scheme. I have no doubt that Nichols will bounce back. But Lapo needs work with what he's got. -
With Lulay starting, this team is completely different than the team we saw last week. Eventhough he hasn't played in awhile, his experience is heads and tails above Jennings. He may not be able to run like he used to but his arm is still accurate and his football smarts can take them a long way. We may not want to blitz tonight as much as we did last week.

Agreed...I wish I could find the Winnipeg Sun article when it was announced that Hall was being brought back as the DC. O'Shea was quoted and as best as I can remember, he said that the defensive system will improve and that he was going to be more involved this season and that we should expect a much different defensive scheme. I thought at the time it was odd because on one hand he's showing faith in Hall in bringing him back but on the other hand he's bashing the system that he coaches. I know Hall and O'shea are good friends but at some point in time the lightbulb has to go on and O'shea has to come to the realization that he's not going to win a Cup with Hall as the DC. So is this going to be another wasted year or will O'Shea make the difficult decision to can Hall and try and salvage the season. You can win a Cup with this offence but the defence is the Achilles heal. Every OC in the CFL knows how to beat it.

No ticket required. Free rides this Canada Day long weekend.

Two things I want to see tonight: 1. I hope Streveler will start to hook slide vs. go head first in to the tackle. I know that's his style but damn he needs to protect himself. 2. Can Richie Hall call a game that will limit Hammies passing to under 300 yds? I love our offence and it could get us far but you need to have your defence win you a couple of games a year.

From the Winnipeg Sun I know Harris is an emotional guy but I would prefer he continue to do his talking on the field and not give the opposition additional bulletin board material. I find this type of stuff usually doesn't work in your favour. Doesn't sound like O'Shea is a fan of it either. -
Bombers' Redemption Day - Game Day Thread: Alouettes

You may not like Suits but you can't question his football knowledge. -
Disagree...at some point in time Dressler's contract is going to cause the team to move on to a more cap friendly contract. People probably think I don't like the guy but you couldn't be more wrong. I just see the probability of younger and cheaper receivers moving up the depth chart and pricing himself off the team.

Dudley Guice....wasn't he the guy that worked for the FBI or something like that?

Bombers' Redemption Day - Game Day Thread: Alouettes

I haven't seen much written about Bryan Bennett's performance on Friday. Yes I know he came in when the game was completely out of hand and the Als defence seemed to have given up. But I for one was quite impressed with his play and his arm strength and I think he throws a better ball than Strelever. But he's far from the game manager that Strelever is. Given his very short time with the team he graded out pretty well. -
Sure...I'm sure there are a few teams with less depth and talent that we have would pick him up in an instant. But again never said he should be cut.
-
Bit!!!!! Way to keep it classy. You've been around here long enough to know that I've never tried to troll anyone and this was definitely not my first attempt at doing so. And no I never said that Dressler should be cut. But there comes a time in a veterans career where he might have to assume a lesser role in order to give more playing time to the younger guys who will be the next generation receivers. I'd like to see more simonise and I love how Wolitarsky fights for the ball. Plus Demsky deserves more touches.
-
Maybe it's that Streveler hasn't developed a rapport with him yet but I feel that Dressler is the forgotten man in the offence. Sure they try the odd end around with him but nothing downfield. Every time I see him in the huddle I think "who let O'Shea's 10 yr old kid on the field". Yes, I know he's a proven vet and his knowledge of the game and the position is unmatched. But I wonder if he's still an integral piece of the receiving corps? Guys like Wolitarski, Demski and Adams are now being utilized alot more and of course there's Bowman who is our possession receiver. Is it time to move on and use Dressler as the 5th receiver?

The team is screwed up right from the top. That interview today with young Whetenhall shows that the team is not in good hands. They hire a coach who has no CFL experience. He looks completely lost on the sidelines and he hasn't really surrounded himself with a star studded coaching staff. They did nothing in the of season to go out and sign an experienced QB that could come in and compete for the #1 spot. They have some wepons on offence but no one to get them the ball. It's hard to see a once proud and successful franchise sink to the depths of despair. I feel bad for Khari as this could be his last opportunity in the CFL.

Game Day Thread - League Opener: Eskies

Looks like the Bombers are looking for another QB. Alex Ross will not be able to dress for the MTL game due to injury sustained on the botched FG. So let the speculation begin 😟 -
Game Day Thread - League Opener: Eskies
B-F-F-C replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This in itself was the difference in the game and this is what makes Reilly the best QB in the league. The pressure was consistent last night but his strength allowed him to escape the pressure and throw a completion. His downfield vision is the best in the league but I honestly was impressed with how many times we pressured him. The one thing we need to do is not over pursue and play more of a contain game. -
Regular Season Bomber News & Discussion

That statement alone is probably all we need to know and based on Lapo's penchant to not stretch the field. Ross will be our starter on Thursday night.
