  1. While I'm not doing cartwheels over the choice. Who else was really available? Maas was already out of the running as the RB's denied access. Khari Jones didn't necessarily succeed during his time as OC. Sure we could have gone after a complete newbie but isn't that what many of you have lambasted the team for doing in the past. So I guess I have to accept it and hope that 3rd times the charm. :P
  2. You are correct. Speaking of cocky, is Kent still a savior in Hamilton? At the cap and a ton of free agents, pitch forks likely will be coming out soon. Austin will be fine. I think most of the FA's that he wants to sign will probably return. I think he's a coach that players love to play with. While I find him cocky too. I think players look at it differently and admire his demeanor and fierce attitude. Agreed. Wouldn't you say the same about Jones? He has won 4 cups, the players obviously believe in him. I think Jones is a very good coach. I have no issue with his coaching abilities.
  3. I'm all for that. I believe all the coaches other than MB will be returning next season. So I don't think you'll see K Jones as QB coach.

  5. did what? put his own needs ahead of a pro sports franchise privately owned by some wealthy individual? gasp! The idea of loyalty to a team is out of date. It was a sucker play that owners used, when the players were basically indentured serfs. It also cons fans into supporting teams that are endlessly bad say... Minnesota Twins. The teams don't care about their employees. Players get fired at the drop of a hat. so do coaches. Lots of teams don't give a crap about the fans either. Just a vehicle for making money. What does the Dallas Cowboys team give their fans? most valueable sports franchise in North America. Thanks suckers! In general, the idea of employee loyalty is really a relic of better days, when you actually could have one job for your entire life with the same employer. These days, employees, in any field, would be stupid to be loyal to anything other than their own well being, financial and otherwise. I agree with respect to the players who don't have guaranteed contracts but coaches do. Jones is a mercenary which I can't exactly argue with as he's looking out for himself and his family. But he does have a history of doing this. The Stamps thing was truly classless as he'd already committed to Huf for the next season and then turned and left for a lateral move. Not right.
  6. I'm not sure Jason Maas is ready for a head coaching job quite yet. To me it seems like a decision based on the heart vs. the head.
  7. Bobby Dyce's name was in the mix but it seems to have fizzled out. Always thought he had a brilliant football mind but the lustre seems to have worn off since he lost his OC duties in Sask.
  8. There's got to have been some acrimony between him and Hervey in Edmonton. Grey Cup winning coach throws his name into the hat for the Rider job the day after. It just doesn't smell right.
  9. Nope...Hervey's smarter than that. Only the Bombers could be fooled by Lapo's greatness.
  10. If Chris Jones walks there's strong indication that Maas would be the next Esks HC.
  11. Have you been to Montreal? And have you seen the women?
  12. Big time .... it's a huge clue about what we really have for management If not signing him looks bad as you say on our management. Does it not reflect just as poorly on the other seven GM's who lost out on the Muamba sweepstakes?
  13. Barely managing to sell out with only 3,000 seats more than permanent capacity, plus having to subtract 5,000 seats from the original expansion plan and Nissan having to buy 2,000 seats, is nothing to be proud of. BC didn't sell out last year, but at least there were over 50,000 people in attendance, with just under 48,000 paid. Blah Blah Blah What's your life like? I just cant imagine being so negative all the time. It must be hard on you and your family. Wow was that ever a ignorant comment. Pretty bush of you BFFC Ignorant? I don't think so. Maybe a little heavy handed but not ignorant. I'm a positive outlook kind of person and it's done me well in my life and career. I worked in corporate sales for 28 years and lead sales teams who always excelled. I have no idea how many meetings I chaired in my career but it would have to be more than a thousand. I had one rule in my meetings and it was that they would never become "*****" sessions. If you wanted to sit there and complain then you could leave. The good news was I never had to kick anyone out of a meeting. If you had a problem, bring me a solution. No matter how farfetched it might have been. But at least you brought me a solution and then it was up to the team to scale it back so that it was effective and workable. I've been retired now at the age of 53 for a little over a year and I don't believe for a second I could have done it if it weren't for the way I looked at life and as such my career. I've tried my best to instill the same beliefs in my kids and so far I would have to say it looks like its working for them as well. I've since gone back to work and its great. I put in my 8 hours a day, I don't have to read a 100+ emails a day, answer my cellphone at midnight and I can just leave work at the end of the day and not worry about what's happening when I'm not there. My point here is that I see many managers who try to be leaders but their ineffective because all they do is focus on the negative or complain about things in front of their employees. So of course the employees are going to act just like their manager and it just leads to an ineffective work environment. I keep my mouth shut because it's not my place to say anything. I'm just a peon now and enjoy every minute of it. Anyway I'm not here to preach but I just wanted to provide my reasons as to why I get frustrated by people who just can't say "nice job".
  14. Some people just cant handle change. I wonder what people said when they introduced in door plumbing and flush toilets vs outhouses or bedpans?

  16. I like it but would have liked to see more Bomber footage.
  17. I love how some posters are already awarding John Murphy the GM of the year. I hope he succeeds but it wouldn't be the first time a guy falls flat on his face once he becomes the man. Ted Goviea would be a perfect example of someone who's flaws were exposed once he left the Argos and more specifically Jim Barker.
  18. I read this about 4 times trying to figure out what swear you used... Richard :o
  19. Typical...Murphy could crash and burn just as easily as he succeeds and makes the Riders a contender again. And quite frankly are the Riders that bad? Next year they'll have Durant back which was probably 90% of their problem this year. But again certain people here will applaud whatever change another team makes but will **** on whatever the Bombers do. There's a saying about a "leopard never changes its spots".
  20. Lapo looks like a freakin offensive genius on TV. But he has an entire half of football to look at replays and think about what he's going to say. As a coach he's never proven himself to be a good game manager where you have to make quick decisions nor did he excel at managing the clock at the end of the game. I just cant stop thinking that this is going to be a huge mistake.
  21. I'll be cheering for the Redblacks. Desjardins sure made a quick rise from the outhouse to the penthouse and deserves a lot of the credit for where they are today. Good on them.
  22. There's a beer called Last Best and they make a great IPA. It's hard to find but I did notice sobeys has it.
  23. Dat would be the record completion percentage in 2005, Bob! That and his stupid ******* facial hair choices and his giant dumbo ears... he just looks like someone you'd want to punch right in the face. I don't care if he looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame. If he can get our offence firing on all cylinders. He's my guy!

  25. There's a good chance we would have been 9 - 9 if Willy was healthy this season. Possibly even better than that.
