  1. OK...everyone makes mistakes. I'm certainly not immune to them. However, why didn't they pick up the flag? His memory couldn't be that bad that he couldn't remember 5 seconds later that he did indeed acknowledge Adam's position on the line. This doesn't make sense.
  2. I watch almost every CFL game during the season and I get so frustrated when I see other offences that run a variety of plays but they work as well. Toronto runs a lot of screens or outs but they also work most of the time. We run a screen and the receiver is tackled for a loss or a 1 - 2 yard gain. I see very few misdirection plays and our running game is extremely predictable. I'm still a huge supporter of MOS and I hope he's back next year but he must drop kick MB. If not than we must get rid of MOS just so we can rid ourselves of MB.
  3. True enough but the blown call was a definitive factor. You could say that if we just converted on that 2nd and 5 or what if Bastien made that catch. Those were all "what ifs" but the blown call was more measurable than the previous examples. All in all an entertaining game but the final result stings more than normal.
  4. Grrrrrrrrrr...this is getting old. They played well enough to be within 3 points and in a position to tie or win late in the game. I honestly don't get your argument.
  5. This is a no brainer. Black, definitely Black.
  6. True but at the same time the team did fight back to get close. It doesn't matter when the points are scored. Just that they are scored and the refs significantly hurt our chance to tie the game. That argument is pure hogwash they hadn't lost the game at that point but they were behind. The bad call didn't cost us the game. It may have contributed but it wasn't the sole reason why we lost. just wasting my time. Haters gonna hate no matter what and the logical will always win out in the end. And logic says that they significantly hurt their chances to win when they only put up 25 yards to Calgary's 137 in the third quarter and spot them and 11 point lead in that time. They kept fighting and that is great but you simply cannot nap for a quarter in professional football and expect to win. That's too is logic. That's absolute BS. Who cares what quarter the points are scored. The reality is they did score the points which put them in the position with the ball at the end of the game and in a favourable spot to at least tie the game. So who cares that they did nothing in the 3rd quarter. What if they scored 30 points in the 3rd but the Stamps scored 31. Would you use the same argument? The fact is that at the end of the game they had the chance to tie or win. That you can't argue.

  8. I'm not aware of a CFL head coach throwing a challenge flag in order to "buy time for their D to regroup", nor am I aware of challenge flags being thrown simply because, "its a huge play that changed the game ". The only time I'm aware of that a HC throws a challenge flag is when he has good reason to believe that a decision by the officials was wrong, which O'Shea has already said that he didn't have. Care to list some examples of either of the situations you outlined? clap clap clap ...standing ovation

  10. I disagree and that's not how its done. And let's say if he did and lost and then there was another game defining moment where a challenge would have been required. You'd be all over O'shea because he wasted it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Mike O'Shea could single handily solve the economic crisis and you'd still find fault.
  11. Why be so patronizing? I just think challenging that play would have been a strategic thing he could have done at that moment with what was happening. 20 20 hindsight would suggest the non-action gamble (because that's what it was) cost us on that particular play. I believe that call would have been overturned which would have dramatically changed the course of events but none of us will never know. Mix in the non-penalty call we get later adds salt to the wound. You're overlooking the facts and using 20 20 hindsight to support your argument. As I said and if you re watch the play. The angle of the camera showed what everyone saw as a good catch. No coach would throw a flag without seeing something in the real time play that needed to be challenged or word from the spotters viewing the replay that there was reason to challenge. But keep trying.
  12. It pains me to say, but kudos to Calgary, they played it perfectly. To me, and here I'm actually not being critical, just identifying a flaw in the system. A lessons learned, If we don't have the tape at that moment where we have to make an immediate decision on plays that can be challenged at a critical juncture of the game (critical being the key word) and the opposition is doing everything it can to get the next play off, what do we do at that moment? imo, if it's not critical, we're less verklemped in letting the play go but if it's at a critical point in the game where field position, possession, we're behind in the score and time is running out , I'm now more verclemped in letting it go because the impact is now huge, so I call a timeout, have a player fake an injury (which I'm sure never happens) or throw the challenge flag. And as Forest Gump would say that's all I have to say about that. While I don't disagree with your points. If you look at last nights catch in isolation in real time. The catch looks to be good and no reason to challenge. It was the replay from the opposite angle that showed that the ball hit the ground. To me it looked like an amazing circus catch by the #1 receiver in the league.

  14. Like in the Lapo days. The official should have to stand in front of the entire team and fanbase to explain himself. Then we get to take shots at him with one of those orange ball hockey balls. **** those hurt
  15. I seem to remember us fans calling for our Oline coach's head a couple years ago and being stoked when Wylie arrived to replace that bum. Yes, Wylie was going to be the saviour that was going to make chicken salad out of you know what. Is it coaching or is it talent? I'm not sure but t's been a weak link for us for a few years now. If you remember the Esks had the worst O-line in the league but they seem to have been able to fix it over a couple of years. So where do you start? Fire the O-line coach or overhaul the line again with new talent?
  16. I don't get on the refs on a regular basis but this type of call is "black and white". It's not a penalty like PI where you have to make a quick judgement call on a bang bang play.
  17. I don't know, you'd have to ask him and yes I am serious. It's late in the game, my opposition just made a circus catch that I didn't get a view on yet, my opposition is all of a sudden running hurry up to get on the ball quick when they should be taking their time so I need to slow things down now, what's at my disposal? Time out or challenge flag. I choose the challenge flag because the bonus is there's a chance it could be overturned based on Calgary not wanting it reviewed. Little bit more than a whim. You'll probably find that very few professional level coaches use "the force" to make critical decisions. I'm thinking that they rely a lot more on evidence, which O'Shea didn't have available to him at that particular moment. The other way to look at it was he made a decision, without any evidence, to let the play go. If he didn't have time to compile that evidence (Calgary rushing to the ball), you simply let it go? No, you use your options to have time to collect that evidence especially being how critical that play was and the time we had left in the game. Yes I risk losing a timeout, the flip side is I risk letting Calgary move up the field on a non legit play.Doesn't the team have multiple people watching? I find it hard to believe no one saw even the possibility of a non catch? I think everyone was mystified by the circus catch. It was very obvious on reply. Id expect someone somewhere to raise an eyebrow at game speed since it's their bread and butter Have you not read the entirety of the thread? And in real speed it looked like a good catch. It wasn't until after the Stamps ran their next play that TSN showed a definitive replay that looked like the ball hit the ground. And those two idiots (Black & Suitor) were still sporting chubbies over the non catch. I believe the replay was shown before he next play. I saw it as a non catch and assumed the flag was coming and the next play then began Go re watch the game and you'll see that there was very little time before the ball was snapped. The best and most definitive replay was shown after the Stamps ran their next play.
  18. So has the league come out recently and admitted to officiating errors? IIRC when Higgins was there he admitted a couple of times that the refs made the incorrect call. But I cant think of anything recent.

  20. I love all you "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" who sit here and say what O'Shea should have done within the context of the game that's going a hundred miles an hour. It's easy to sit back today and criticize his decisions. We're all HOF coach's after you've re-watched the game in slow motion.
  21. IINM...the stadium replays are a TSN feed as well.
  22. It was bang bang as calgary knew it and was in hurry up.. Apparently the feed to our booth staff was down or something so they didnt see it and I didnt see any defenders telling Hall or Oshea to toss the flag.. From what I've heard the coaching staff don't have a special feed for replays. They're basically watching it on monitors using the same feed as us at home watching it on TV. When I saw the first replay I yelled to throw the challenge flag and within a second or less the play was whistled in. It was that fast. What pissed me off is neither Suitor or Black said one word about the catch not being made. All they did was go on and on about what a great catch it was. They should have their football memberships cards revoked.
  23. It didn't cost us the game but it significantly hampered our ability to put the game in to overtime. That is non refutable.
  24. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk · 4h4 hours ago #CFL tells me it is investigating tonight's controversial call but won't make the officials involved available for comment.
  25. I'm still emotionally invested and will be till the day I die.
