O'Shea is a terrible head coach. The only difference between he & Burke is he doesn't cry. Results exactly the same. They lose & lose & lose. Iso...what hard facts do you have that proves Mike O'Shea a terrible head coach? Sure you can look at the record but i'm not sure that alone is evidence enough. In my opinion Mike O'Shea is at this time an average head coach who could become a good one. But even the best head coaches in this league have had their lows. Other than that you have no real evidence of his ability to coach. Other than your subjective views. Yeah, I do. 4-14 the past 18 games. That's a hard fact. Head coaches get fired with a record like that. You can spin things any way you want but the bottom line to me is his record. He's brutal. I hope you didn't take too much time and energy to come up with this response.

Has Davis been here long enough to go out and execute even 50% of the playbook? But seriously we need to play Marve so that we can truly see what we have. Two games is not enough to truly gauge what we have.

Not sure why you would think otherwise. And his record IMHO is evidence enough. BRT...that's the easy answer but what other evidence do you have. Come on prove it too me. Has he made in game mistakes? I haven't seen many if any. Roster decisions? Are we really in the know that we can criticize them? Do we watch practise? Do we break down the game film and focus on a particular players execution? Do we have direct access to the medical staff to know who's healthy enough to play and who's not? It's easy for some to dump on O'Shea just due to the record.

I didn't know coaches can take on field penalties or miss their assignments.

Reilly's first season was better than anything we have seen from Marve. Reilly can throw a long bomb. Marve clearly cannot...at least not yet. Chances are though if he never learned to throw a long bomb in college he will be unable to learn in the pros. How would we know if he can or not. The only time I've seen him go long is when the game is out of hand and the Oline is just pinning back their ears and bringing numbers on every play. I'd also like to know id he can throw a screen pass? But unfortunately it doesn't seem to be in our playbook.

I'm not blaming Marve at all. Its the coaching and the talent around him. There's no way he was going to win the game on his own. In order to win tonight, it would have required a perfect game from the entire team and the coaches. You cant base Marve's future on these last two games. Not comparing the two but remember Mike Reilly's first season? He needs time to better learn the game and learn from his mistakes.

Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report...
B-F-F-C replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Appoint Pierce the interim OC and lets see what he can do. Commit to implementing 2 - 3 new offensive plays per week. Give Marve an opportunity to play "his" game. And put Bob Wylie and the Oline in a room and don't let them out until these guys learn how to block three rushers. -
Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report...

The biggest gaffe is not using Marshall until the 2nd half. -
I believe there's a strong argument to be made that MB is a QB killer. He could make a Tom Brady look like a bum. He has to go tonight. If I were Miller I'd meet him at the door to the dressing room and ask for his key card back. Then send him on his merry way.

This is definitely insurance and an opportunity to workout a couple of kickers should we find ourselves looking for a new one in 2016. However, I'd be surprised if LH gets a NFL invite. He's not showing the accuracy on fg's that's needed in the NFL nor the placement on punts. I support his NFL dream but this years performance is doing nothing to support his goal.

IIRC...this board as a whole were pretty pumped about the Picard signing. Now all of a sudden he's a bum.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC

Wow...the Als are a gong show and the Stamps are the worst organization in the league. It's nice to be out of the spotlight for once. -
The Cats defence earned their identity as fearsome and tough. However, its going to come a time when they'll get their comeuppance for their low hits, piling on and just outright dirty play. Last night I remember seeing a Cats player who was in the pile after Lulay was sacked, give him a forearm shiver to the head after the play. Lulay got up off the turf and you could see him trying to shake it off. There are also players who go low on a tackle when it's not necessary and piling on the defenceless player who's already on the turf. But if the refs aren't going to call it. Why not!

You know what. They laid a licking on the Lions last night and they deserved a little bit of gloating. The Ticats are the best team in the league (notice I didn't say class of the league) and they are dominating their opposition. Austin has every facet of the team playing their best and the coaches are getting the most out of their players. I still hate Austin's behaviour on the sidelines and some of their players (especially on defence) push the letter of the law and good sportsmanship. But you can't ignore how well the team is playing. Right now if the Grey Cup was tomorrow the Cats would be the heavy favourite regardless of which team they played. But I just cant cheer for them because of Austin. OK...except when their playing the Riders.

The Day Early Game Day Thread - TOR @ WPG

I cant see that this was posted yet but I just read in the Sun that Marve was suffering from the stomach flu. He was seen throwing up on the sidelines during the game. I call that gutting (pun intended) it out. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/08/15/flu-bug-takes-bite-out-of-robert-marves-first-professional-start-with-bombers -
Austin is such a dink. He wants to argue every penalty his team takes.

Nope...watching both games today from start to finish. Cool day here in Calgary so cooked a nice dinner and the wife is catching up on her reading and I'm watching football. Even the dog is sitting with us. Lovin the cooler weather.

I'm still a fan of Mike O'Shea and believe he deserves more time to right the ship. He just needs to be surrounded by the best coaches available due to his inexperience. Plus I don't know of an assistant coach out there that I'd rather have as a head coach.

What can you say? Marve looked pretty good for his first pro start. However, that strong arm that we all talked about seemed to go a little limp last night. He didn't seem to get his feet set before many of his throws. Is it just me or does anyone else breathe a sigh of relief every time he gets up after one of his scampers? His history of knee surgeries scares the crap out of me. I liked the play of the dline last night. Sure Kackert had some success but the guys a bowling ball. Khalil Bass shows spurts of greatness but he also at times is out of position. That can be fixed with more experience and film. I'm not going to dump on Kohlert for the fumble. The guy is one of our most dependable receivers and it happens to the best of them. Will the real Troy Stoudemire please stand up. That guy on the field this year can't be the same player. His speed seems to have disappeared and I don't know if he needs glasses or something but his vision of the field seems to have disappeared as well. It's time to give Veltung some reps and see who deserves the fulltime returner job. MB called a pretty good game last night and the last play was just a good defensive play by the Argos. The contacting the kicker call was absolute BS and the missed holding call on the same play was inexcusable. I'm not sure Marve can be a long term solution but he does give us an opportunity to win. But I'd also like to see Davis get some reps over the next couple of months while Willy's out. Most other teams have a set of plays for their back up QB's and give them a few plays during the game. It was actually a pretty entertaining game but we squandered opportunities to expand our lead and I knew that our lead wouldn't hold up in the 4th quarter.

A coach can't be concerned about injury nor can it alter his in game decisions. To take Willy out and put Brohm in is a message to the team that he's conceded.

I've never seen it.

Mike O'Shea's style vs Kent Austin. Something inside of me wants to see Mike O'Shea lose it during the game and just go off on the team. Kent Austin's team is up by a wide margin and his offence turns the ball over a couple of times. He gets the entire offence on the bench and just tears a strip off them. Mike O'Shea just stands on the sidelines with that same old grin. I'm not a fan of Kent Austin but he's a damn good coach that gets everything out of his players.
