  1. I don't get it...if they're not happy with Aaron Kelly. Then tell your scouts to go find one of the 1000 or so out of work receivers in the US. Makes no sense to me.
  2. Must be all the same people that comment on the Winnipeg Sun site. Thems crazy people
  3. Count me in as surprised. Tate looked better (albeit just slightly) and seemed to have a better command of the huddle. The couple of times they showed Bo Levi, he looked quite stunned. But who am I to question John Hufnagel and Dave Dickenson. .
  4. lol...in Etch''s system you never really know which player is playing which position. So does it really matter
  5. Some people are saying that is a failure on recruiting…what if it's success by Kelly? The Bombers last successful days, Jamie Stoddard was a mainstay at 5th WR. A sticky hands guy without much flash that just caught whatever was thrown to him as a 5th receiver. Why not Kelly? Queue the Stoddard love
  6. No...I don't think so. Maher was in tough to win the job and Osh told him that he'd have to perform significantly better than Highralahoo in order to beat out the Cdn kicker. And I believe it was pretty much a tie between the two.
  7. Really? How do you come to that conclusion? Based on stuff he's said on twitter before. But I could be wrong. Oh...ok. I'm looking at it in isolation to just those two tweets. Why I don't use twitter
  8. Really? How do you come to that conclusion?
  9. Ejiro Kuale ‏@EJKUALE · 16m All this just for some cash money .....nah u can have it! Ejiro Kuale ‏@EJKUALE "Too many snakes in the grass"
  10. Urrutia hasn't done much to earn a roster spot at this point other than be tall. Cutdowns are only 3 days away - at this point I'm keeping Dell on the roster ahead of him if that's a choice the numbers forces us to make. I think you hit the nail on the head with Urrutia. I don't think they're ready to give up on him just yet due to his size and speed. From what I've heard though he's performed well in TC practices.
  11. Thanks for asking the questions the media are afraid to ask.
  12. During training camp it's been almost a daily thing.
  13. It's a pretty safe bet and I think it's a good idea for the coaches to tell these guys so that they can start looking for accomodations.
  14. http://bluebombers.com/video/index/id/97331 What's wrong with the media in Winnipeg. Some of these questions were just ridiculous. Did they watch the game on Saturday. One question about the defence and it was right at the end. No questions about the putrid run defence, the lack of pressure by the front four or the horrible job tackling. Nothing about the kick coverage either. Is Osh bribing them with free food in exchange for these softball questions?
  15. Welcome! The oline concerns us all but we're making small strides in that direction. As I'm sure you're aware that we must start at least two - three Cdn's on the line and that's been our weakness over the years. But it's improving and while we wont have a great oline this year. It will get better under coach Wylie and I just hope we can create offensive game plans to assist with the extra pressure.
  16. I have no problem spelling Liram I liked Maher's field goals. He kicked them with authority and even from the 40, he had another 10 yards to spare. Liram's fg's seemed to peak earlier and then come down with less distance to spare. But he's Cdn and pretty good to boot
  17. I think they find a way to keep Kemp around. He's a guy I'd like to see stick around so he could learn the Cdn game. If it was my decision, I'd have to give the edge to Maher over Highroolaju. I think part of our ST's problems yesterday is they were both out kicking the coverage guys. I counted a good 2 - 3 seconds before the closest WBB got close to the returner after he fielded the kick.
  18. Isn't that Tosten guy a RB? He looked like a real powerful runner yesterday. Very difficult to bring down.
  19. You're also cherry picking a bit, but I'm sure you knew that. It's easy to say that Etcheverry's defense was weak in 2010 (especially their defensive line) after he lost a ton of personnel from the previous season. And hey, they still went to the Grey Cup. None of that makes him a great or even a good defensive coordinator, but cherry picking statistics that have everything to do with personnel that won't be wearing blue and gold makes little sense. Maybe for speculation. But to use it and try to prove anything definitively? Not likely. sure, i was cherry picking... but he still sucks Plus I was tired of everyone saying "hey he got to the cup so he's a good DC" when he was definitely NOT the reason they got to the cup. The fire Etch now crowd...sounds just like the comments posters in the Sun's sports stories There's always someone who has to make it personal. Listen, it's a football forum and we're all here to talk everything WBB related. But to compare us to those tinfoil scum suckers on the Sun sight. Well you're way off base. History shows this guy has a short shelf life. And it's not because he gets poached by other teams. I think Osh is going to be a great coach and is a breath of fresh air but I wsn't then and still am not a fan of this hiring.
  20. Does that remind you of someone else? IMWT?
  21. Well it sure got some good discussion going . But if I was Osh I would have ensured that I hired a DC that could build a strong ball take away defence given the offence would probably struggle out of the gate. As I said I hope he proves me wrong. The title of the thread may have been a little dramatic but as I said it got everyone riled up. In the past we often wished for the offence to play as well as the defence did. This year it might be a reversal of fortunes.
  22. We don't need a plan. The team does.
  23. lets keep the conversation focused on the defence for now. Quite frankly I'm very happy with the offence and where they're at after 2 pre season games. What concerned me the most was our run defence in the first half when we were playing starters against starters. The Stamps run the ball down the gut with ease and we didn't appear to get a hand on the runner until he got thru to the secondary. I didn't once see the front 4 get any type of pressure on their own. So I'll wait and I hope I'm wrong, god I hope I'm wrong. But I wasn't happy with the hiring of Etchevery in the first place and so far I've seen nothing to disprove my opinion.
  24. No I'm not. I'm basing it on the defences I've seen other teams play so far this off season. Plus you can play a vanilla defence and still be effective.
  25. I know it's just pre season but our run defence is non existent and overall I just don't see our defence improving once the regular season starts.
