  1. Marijuana possession laws in Canada are ridiculous. I have 3 friends, 2 lawyers and a judge that get together with our wives every 2 - 3 months for dinner at one our houses. Usually after supper the men and sometimes women head to the garage and smoke a couple of joints. A friend of mine who took many of the same classes as I did would often share a joint just before our exams. It would settle us down and open up the mind. But remember, pot was a lot less potent in the 70's as it is today. I hate Sheets but I feel he was unnecessarily punished.
  2. How much more is this going to cost me?
  3. Ah a voice of reason...finally an explanation that doesn't wreak of conspiracy theories.
  4. Can we lock the thread so we can go back to bitchin' about everything football again
  5. Who was the QB...he has a pretty good arm.
  6. I think the Als need an experienced back up because quite frankly they have no depth if their newly anointed #1 falls flat on his face or is injured. But will Desjardins trade him to a division rival? I think not. I have a feeling that he'll ultimately end up a Rider.
  7. I really like this move. It allows Buck to learn the ropes and develop his coaching skills. Will it lead to bigger and better things? We'll just have to wait and see on that. But I like the idea of having a good mix of ex CFL players on the coaching staff as it brings some credibility vs. continually hiring from the NCAA ranks. The players look at these guys and say they played the game vs. a guy who's pretty much been a career coach since his NCAA career ended.
  8. So captain Blue...what do you base your opinion on? Cause everytime I've heard Buck interviewed, he speaks intelligently and seems to have a good understanding of the game. So before you share your opinion, you should really be able to back it up with some sort of facts or findings.
  9. Just because they sign a new contract doesn't mean they make the final roster.
  10. I think Jovon will be wearing red & black this season.
  11. JBR...you know what the word "natty' means right? It was a compliment not a criticism.
  12. while I was watching the video I couldn't but help thinking about the great pass protection he was getting.
  13. Thanks...I'm hoping that with a full training camp they'll let him return some punts as well. I believe last year he was just doing kick returns.
  14. I can't argue with the list but Dan West was a pretty good ST's player. I wouldn't mind seeing him back but I guess with Bucknor and Cauchy. Do we need another NI safety.
  15. I really liked this guy and thought he was really coming around just before he got hurt. With his speed I hope we can incorporate him more in to the offence.
  16. With the push that our o-line provides and the small cracks that they provide. We better find the skinniest guy out their.  I'm not going to be too hard on our RB's until I can see them consistently open up some holes.
  17. Tate would be my guy as well but I don't think we would need to give up our 1st rounder. Quite frankly I wouldn't give up our #1 for anyone less than Ricky Ray or Travis Lulay. ;) ;) ;)
  18. I think everyone agrees that you can't fix all the mistakes that have been made over the past 5 - 6 years. And there's not one move that's going to immediately make this team a legitimate contender. However, and I'm sure Walter's and Miller know that strengthening the QB position might just fix 50% of what needs to be done. The Burris deal could not be expected as who on this earth would have thought anyone would offer him $450,000 a year. Walter's must have thought he was in good in a good position at $375,000. And Collaros made a personal decision which most of us would have made as well. I also like the value that Walters places on the Cdn draft. He's not willing to give up a high draft pick for a guy like Nicholls or maybe even Glenn. So we may or may not sign Willy and even if we do. He's unproven and yet to prove he can take that next step to become a capable #1 QB. But we do know that the scouting staff have been mandated to find that next Zach Collaros I also have more faith in that process as we now have a guy who knows what skills are required to be a QB in this league. So while I'm not looking forward to starting the season without a proven experienced QB. I do agree with Miller and Walters that we have to be patient and let them do their jobs. This is different organization and the infrastructure that we have today, should provide dividends in the future. But the key word is "future".
  19. I don't blame Walters at all for what's transpired over the last week or so. But what he does need to learn is how to sell the team and the city to prospective players. Dave Ritchie and Taman were masters at it and probably to the point of overselling it in some instances. I remember a story I heard from a friend of mine and this has to back a good 15 - 20 years so now that I think about it maybe it was Robson. Anyway this young receiver from somewhere in the deep US was told that he could get real good soul food in Winnipeg. This kid was going to be leaving home for the first time (he went to some college n Texas I believe) and he wanted to make sure he could get the same kind of food that he grew up eating. So he gets to Winnipeg and I think at the time the players were put up at the Viscount Gort and he went in to the restaurant and he was asking the other players where's the fried chicken and greens and all the other popular southern soul food. So some of the veteran players had to set him straight and explain that he couldn't the authentic soul food he was promised. Anyway it wasn't a problem as he didn't make it thru training camp but from what I heard he was really making a fuss at training camp and asking for the food he was promised.
  20. And some think that Drew Tate is injury prone :o :o I'd take Drew Tate (on condition that he passes a full medical) every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  21. Ah the "Brock Busters" game. I remember it well. I think it was a local DJ by the name of Joey Gregoresh (sp) who performed a parody of the Ghostbusters song and it played on the radio for weeks. I think it was on of the local papers that also provided the signs with the words "Brock" in the ghostbusters logo thing. Anyway we won and the stadium was as loud that day. Ah the good ol' days.
  22. well I don't think Henry will care one way or the other. All he has to do is look at his bank account and he'll be smilin' from ear to ear.
  23. I hope Henry sends a Christmas card to Zach Collaros this year. He owes him BIG time.
  24. I bet Desjardins already has a trade worked out with the Als for Glenn. I see what Desjardins is doing and I can understand that a marquee QB is important for an expansion franchise but he's just upped the bar for a starting QB and that's going to hurt the rest of the teams.
  25. Jim Popp has already called Desjardins about Glenn and probably offered their #1 for him. Popp could care less as he'll probably be gone in a couple of years.
