  1. was waiting for your retort..and you can't compare different eras...If you look back at average attendances through the decades the Bombers have out drew the riders...they only have been putting more buts into seats "consistently" since the mid 2000's And sorry to rain on your thoughts but yes the Jets and other options in the city do have an impact..as I am sure it does in Vancouver..Edm..Cgy..Mtl and Ott. The riders are the only ticket in town for the province and many are fair weather fans there as well as in a lot of cities..hence the numerous telethons to save them, and the sale of Rider Shares that are not worth anything but the paper printed on. If things turn south there the Rider fan base is notorious for turning back on team and staying away in droves to the point of almost folding several times...truth is in the history and you cant change or dispute it...If that team went as long without winning a Cup or having sustained success like occurred here you would be hard pressed I bet to get 20k to games And the Moose replaced the Jets essentially and I recall were the highest attended team. Fan supprt in Winnipeg is not an issue...but some families have to choose one team over the other..thats just the way things are economically today, and I bet if Winnipeg was as Regina is...no Major League team of any kind, and no minor league hockey and Baseball to support that IGF would be filled to, or close to capacity every game, as that would be all sports fans in city would have
  2. truthfully that organization should be selling out every game every year...no reason not to as it is the only professional thing in the province and really the only thing in the province/city of Regina/Saskatoon that takes any type of entertainment dollar away from anything else. To yammer on about how great they are to have 30k at their toilet bowl and rag on the Bombers for having 27k at a game and not factor in on some days there are 15k+ at a Jets game and between 5-7k at a Goldeyes game amoung other things going on in a bigger city is at times funny.. When you think about it the total number of season ticket holders for all 4 professional sports teams in the City (Goldeyes/Jets/Bombers/Moose) and soon to be Soccer far outnumbers fan support and contribution that the Riders claim. There is only so many entertainment dollars to go around in any city and when you add it all up there are probably close to what...40k-45k season ticket holders in the city on any year, not to mention casual walk-up crowd fans
  3. That would be the stupidest and funniest thing all wrapped into one. Carter cannot tackle whatsoever, and would get eaten alive...I so hope they do that. Are they so weak with depth and talent where that is ony option for them?...pathetic
  4. not bad considering we have played more games than everyone else and the first few were with a raw rookie who took some sacks where a vet most likely wouldn't have...the rushing yards tho and qb pressures is the more telling tale tho of how good an o-line is, sacks don't reflect o-line play per say And any team at the pro level who are averaging over 170 yards a game along the ground obviously has a strong o-line
  5. O-line is key for a teams success...and we have the best in the league...bar none and the stats validate it. How many sacks have they given up this year....curious about that number, and if Goosen didn't fall on his own last game it would have been 3 straight games without a sack I believe...correct me if I am wrong
  6. Chris Jones and stupid enough tho does seem to go well with each other don't you think? They are in dire need of DB's, so he brings in an NFL retread who is 33 and hasnt played in 2 years...does that not exude stupid enough??
  7. Hamilton did what they did to bring him in to see what he's got...if he lit it up from the get go then they had an attention grabbing starter that would help them all around, with a good back-up in Masolli..or if he showed well but didn't win the starters spot then they had a good back-up still with name recognition to give them more viability. In regards to Montreal if Adams lights it up..well he becomes the back-up that has shown he may be capable of running the offence if Johnny gets hurt or crashes and burns...
  8. So does this mean that all revenue generated that remains after football operation costs goes into the team's bank account/rainy day fund??
  9. Thats what a lot of old school coaches claim...tho more suits a real rookie who is in his first year of ball...as opposed to a 4 year NFL vet who has logged significant playing time..
  10. Don't base an import position's production based on the previous player. Throw what Bowman did out the window. A Tompkins or Washington...heck even a Lankford over the long haul will be far more productive and garner far more attention from a defense than a Lafrance..Augustine (both of whom aren't receiver options)..Peterman or a Simonese...tho a Simonese on the rail would be the best route to take if you went 3 Canucks. Playing 2 rookie Canadians with Demski makes us weaker....and thats not even debatable...also...you just lost your depth if one gets hurt...and as the old adage goes...every rookie you start you are going to lose a game...so with Sayles..Cooper..Streveler already having started thats our 3 losses..we don't need the extra couple in a tough west division Peterman and Simonese ...and really Lafrance havn't proven jack yet so not sure why that would be considered an upgrade. And honestly I think Augustine is a better back than Lafrance...but thats just my opinion
  11. starting 3 Canadian receivers serves no point unless we needed to get another American on defense...and we don't need to be doing that. All it does is make us a weaker offence
  12. yeah the window is a good thing...you will see a lot of better talent come through, worked before...will work again. Helps keep continuity with a teams roster and fan recognition too...
  13. I'd assume Washington gets first crack at it...He looked good in the slot and coming across the middle and up through the flats. I bet in Bowmans first game he gets between 6-8 catches for 100+ yards too If they insert Lankford...I will puke and if I was one of Tompkins and Washington I would actually ask for my release cause of that...we know what Lankford is as a receiver and it's bottom teir
  14. A lot of the targets Bowman has received this year have been uncatchable balls...and he was open. He has had one bad drop..so saying he has lost it is a bit premature..the reason the other guys are getting lots of balls is because Bowman is drawing coverage away from them..mainly demski being a prime beneficiary of it..teams know if u leave Bowman unattended he will burn you.. badly.. Demski doesnt have that pedigree yet..hence he is able to be targeted more cleanly
  15. Alexander back made a huge difference..good coverage and he b.c reacts to the play and closes fast and usually always makes the tackle..the one play on the Wilder dump pass he came clear across field to make stop. Love that Hardrick..pure for out there and just doesnt let guys he is blocking get away...the line feeds off him. Harris is just plain good an idea the offence every game should focus on him like this and ride that scheme till teams show they can stop it..and that will just open up everyone else.. also looks like Adam's and dressler are awakening. Leggett too is back to his self..I hope when Fenner is back he goes to halfback or those 2 rotate and with Alexander added to the mix again our secondary automatically looks much improved. 3 stars tho in my mind Oline..haven't seen sustained line dominance like this in quite some time..best in league bar none and a group of mean SOB's Harris...nuff said and product of the first stars Dline..shut down wilder and never let Franklin get set
  16. Lose the stupid camera angle
  17. That Td should seal the win lol
  18. PRE allegations tho...seems the Riders tend to sign these guys when it is well known they have quite significant off-field transgressions and issues...there's a difference
  19. my only issue is I wish he just sticks to what's working until it doesn't anymore and then deviate from the gameplan/script. He tends to have a gamelan in mind and too many times he starts to use his other "ideas" he had going in even tho the original stuff is working..and we stall and 9 times out of ten fall behind. By that time he does go back to whats working, but usually by then it's too late, or we are attempting another improbable comeback. Don't try to look like the evil genius..until you need to. That's his major fault, along with his reluctance to stretch a field and make a defense work/think. The safe ball control works to a point, but when it's all you do with little to no threat of having DB's or linebackers play off, or soften their zones...well we've seen the results. As a defensive player...we always were licking our chops knowing that if basically if we keep everything in front of us we will have a hayday flying downhill and basically wearing an offence down...and yes...you can wear one down...no receiver likes to be pounded play after play when everything is kept within the hashes and only 15 yards past the LOS...especially when we employ a cast of smurfs, and lean lanky guys. That's why I think having a game sitting a Dressler (for perseverance) and rostering Washington and a Tompkins if we could to create a physical corp who can and will stretch a field and make life more difficult for defenses and wear them down. A game of trying to deal with a tackling bigger bodied guys like along with Harris as opposed to dealing with Dressler's would do wonders out there
  20. yeah I think the notion that the Rider's receivers are this elite uniot has come and passed..Roosevalt is good for sure...but yu have probably the weakest Canadian group in the league, and Evans, Holley, and whomever else you toss out there are no better than anything else in the league for the most part, and truthfully not as good as most teams #1 and #2 guys....and with no legit QB to throw the ball to them...well you have the makings of the leagues worst offence
