  1. The skill level/competition is very comparable, and people who think otherwise don't have a clue..many a former, and current player has even said so. The elite skilled guys are the best of the best in the NFL..receiver, running backs, cover guys, line backers...no question about that, but each team has maybe one or two of the elite, the 2nd..3rd..stringers..back-up guys are very comparable and a lot of the elite CFL guys are better, but don't fit the "standard" that NFL views Also the CFL requires a more athletic player, and one who is versatile...roster's don't allow for a 2 down back, a run stopping DT...etc..etc, and a guy who would excel at his certain specialized role in the NFL could not play in Canada, and a lot of guys who play in Canada could play down south, but don't meet the eye test, can't get over the Draft hurdle where a team has already invested dollars in a guy and even though he may be inferior to a CFL free-agent...won't get a true chance, teams can only carry so much "dead money" against their cap and a guy who gets snipped who signed a big bonus..well usually a portion/percentage is paid upfront, the rest is alloted over 5 years, and if a guy is cut, that dead money is all paid out at once, and as it is actually guaranteed money owed the player, and will screw a teams cap...so there are a lot of things against CFL stars going down there basically preventing them of sticking...among the politics of the NFL Oddly enough a guy who was up here..KD Cannon got one of the larger bonuses for a free-agent signee..45k....only 5k of it was the actual "bonus" the rest was dead guaranteed money in the form of salary if they make the team, so when he got the snips there he was paid out against the cap..teams do this to allow themselves to bring in more camp bodies under their i think 94k or so amount they are allowed to use for free agent signing bonuses, so in a guy like Willies case I can see him getting no real legit offer worth his while because no team is gonna offer much in the case he doesn't cut it, and then be on the hook for his guaranteed portion of his bonus which affects their cap Things down there are moreso due to cash..draft...and business...not necessarily true talent...Look at Cleveland right now..playing a D-Tackle we cut...Montreal cut...but is a down and distance specialist down there right now...
  2. wouldn't that be something....you never know tho
  3. There is no way Arbuckle re-ups in CGY....basically assuring himself of back-up status..and money...and most likely bottom barrel back-up salary as they are already into BLM for what..almost 700k?..no way id huff gonna pay 850--900k on 2 QB's
  4. what game you talking about? If the WF yeah they stuffed us often, mainly because of Lapo's piss poor game callingt hat game...we won despite it if you ask me...he atoned for it in the Grey Cup, but his use of Strev and the lack of Hrris in the WF was for the lack of a better term...stupid
  5. so if giving up 186 yards in the LCD, 155 yards in the Banjo Bowl and 116 yards in 3rd game for a total of 457 yards and 3 TD's without Harris for 2 of the games is shutting us down all season I'm curious to see what "not" shutting us down would look like....... We came out somewhat flat in WF..against a team with weeks rest...at home with 2 weeks to prepare and still won...so obviously the better, more rounded, deeper, better coached team won...basically...the better team...plain and simple
  6. Yeah we actually played a sub par game in that one of the three playoff ones..yet still won..that's the beauty of it Tho Rider faithfull keep throwing out this notion they were the only team to solve the Streveler factor..which is funny in itself..sure I guess you can say that..but forgot to solve the constant deep shot problem the QB's took at will on them I guess..maybe have a well rounded team capable of total defense
  7. pretty much yup lol
  8. YUP...for a non-player related off-season this was my hopes...now 8 more of our own key re-signs, and it will be a grade A off-season..anything else of notable substance is bonus
  9. yeah just had a peek over there and read that...what a bunch of fucktards there...all believeing each others drivel...and all the moves the Rider's make are "ata boy Oday!!" "super duper signing"...yadda yadda yadda.. I like the statement the balance of power there now is through them...and oddly enoug us in the west..at least they got one team right in that statement
  10. Along with being the longest tenured Bomber boss since Bud Grant at 8 years, and just ahead of Cal Murphy at 6 years...who'da thunk that after 2015? He is going to be the all-time leader by end of this term, and may add to it, and even if he doesn't I bet may hold that title for a long time
  11. all 3 have Canadians in their front office staff
  12. Can't understate continuity in an organization..Top down having Miller..Walters, McManus, Oshea, Rigmadan, Goevia all continue to be a part of things now pushing what 5..6 years now (save for rigs) is kind of hard to believe in the CFL....And the rewards have been reaped, and should continue. Players see that too, and will want to be part of that.
  13. i would think so as well, most likely they were finalizing all those pieces first before announcing their own extensions, which I am led to believe were hammered out a week after the cup, but wanted to wait until the lapo situ was determined
  14. Maybe they will toss out some re-signings as well in terms of players
  15. lol....and why is that may I ask...according to Riderfans Walters is difficult to work for, yet Oshea re-upped..Miller re-upped Walters' and Riggie and McManus choose to stay here, and Buck has turned down offers the last 2 years...hmmmm...
  16. Entering an off-season where you won a Cup, and generally are raped and coming out on the coaching/management side of things with only losing one guy, and the one who truthfully I think will be the easiest to replace and have minimal impact is a pretty good off-season
  17. Tho it was a mere formality, will go a long way now in getting some of guys re-upped, especially the ones on the NFL hunt whom really aren't getting much in terms of guarantee/upfront $$ Knowing now things will be exact same next few years in Winnipeg makes re-signing even if for just one yr again very comforting
  18. I wouldn't mind seeing Buck bumped up to OC..and Damon Allen brought on board as QB/receivers coach rtpe role..and help in game planning like Buck was for Lapo He wants to get into coaching..obviously has ties with Osh as a former teammate and would be good for a guy like Strev...If i was Walter's and Osh..that's what I would be working on..and what better team to join than defending Grey Cup champs
  19. Darvin inwoukd hope is back..adds the grit in the corp and hopefully Lawler..Bailey take next step..even Whitehead or one if the new guys coming in..we still need a vet presence out there tho so Darvin would fit that nicely as the number 2 guy..or 3
  20. I dunno..if not I'd like if we targeted him
  21. A dart is a dart.. lol.. he also threw a nice ball for a comebacker where only Lawler could get it..something that a guy who "cant" pass would have biffef
  22. They did just an RB who could make some noise..and their oline wssnt putrid..just their QB..they also have 2 american receivers who are studs..
  23. Well that system was highest scoring last few years..and just won a Cup...so...
  24. Wow...call me shocked..but happy Must be more going on there behind the scenes then being let known..hopefully a good guy like Khari doesn't suffer cause of it. If I was a betting man..Step right up Mr Chris Jones...he will be dumped in 3 games
  25. why you say thtat?..Him and Pinball are pals don't you know...rumour has it he wants to go there and be the DC/ST coordinators, cause he played there and has ties there, and the buddy thing and all...cmon man! Also according to Riderfan's Kyle is difficult to work for...
