  1. Shepley is as much a real deal as is Gray (which is hardly a lock to crack starting lineup)...probably to a lesser degree as Gray was looked at as a better prospect and did survive in the NFL longer..well actually Shepley didn't really survive there..Bladek yes may improve but he may not even be ready until labour as he got hurt right at the end of the season, and returning from a ACL rebuild is much easier for a smaller guy than for a big lineman..so for them to count on him now is a pipe dream. Also with their pop gun offence, and losing 3 of their big play makers on defense, they will be lucky to be a 4-6 win team...not to mention unproven coaching staff in the top spot and GM
  2. Who did they add to improve that O-line? Labatte another year older and declining..Bladek (who wasnt that good anyway yet) coming off ACL injury and may not be even ready..Clarke just..well sucks..StJohn who showed nothing isnt signed..their 2 American tackles are average at best...Blake is there but isnt a dominant guy by any means and isnt getting any younger and Shepley has shown nothing and is just a rookie who hasnt had live gamecaction since his last year of school. Factor in mush melon at QB and Roosevalt in a similar situation and that's a whole lot of issues.. Powell will not put them over the top and prob by week 8 or so will wonder why he signed there
  3. Sam Mills, Reggie White, Kelvin Bryant, Nate newton
  4. THE xfl though will follow a similar fate..maybe not as fast but I bet only one "complete" season Probably see a flurry of signings in the CFL though in the next few days...not earth shattering ones but significant ones in a few instances...
  5. did that league as well not state that they will not be signing players with criminal records/arrests...spousal abuse type stuff? basically any substantiated character flaws?...if so...he's out of that league as well
  6. yeah...if we add him to what we already have in the backfield...that would be as solid a unit as there is in the league...and he wouldn't break the bank so to speak either at this point
  7. I think it was a guarentee of 250 million...to help prop/sustain it if revenue wasn't keeping up...which it hasn't and he now realizes he is gonna be on the hook for at the least..the full 250 so he is getting ouuta dodge...don't care how rich a guy can be, but they didn't get that way from losing gobs of money with no real future return on the investment likely
  8. I am talking about Corey Washington...I think he could be an emerging talent this year
  9. money from stadium fees/rental...parking..concessions...beer sales ...tickets etc would go into the teams pocket..no?....thats why
  10. We could start the season trying it..especially if Simonese shows he is a guy who can play side..stretch the defense..work across the middle at mid depth...and play a wait and see if we can land an NFL reject, or if we can't land say a Mathews before then..If we don't get him I can't see us throwing any money at whats left out there..we will go with what we recruit. Adams,Demski, Woli, Simonese and whomever grabs that other import spot..be it Washington/Thompkins or Nelson as incumbents isn't end of world....or replace incumbent with a recruit who jumps off the page can work with Harris. Thompkins if actually used consistantly can give us what Dress did, if not more and be more durable and has more size For some reason I have a gut feeling that him, as well as Washington could be legit 2nd year guys who can give us options and anywhere from 600 to 1000 yards if we don't dink and dunk all year
  11. and he did burn 2 of the better cover guys in the league last year for big gains..so a season and now a second full camp under his belt after being away from the game for basically a few years should do him wonders
  12. yeah I looking for an expanded role for him and big things...He has the tools and the toolkit to be a ratio breaker type receiver in the fact that he almost appears to be an import talent physically and visually wrapped in a nice Canadian shell
  13. The NFL isn't really "behind" it...they show games sure, but they pay nothing for it, and don't put money toward production...basically it's free content/filler for them during the off-season. And they will never take it over and fund it as a feeder league as they have been there..done that and isn't worth their time or money..NCAA nad to a lesser extent the CFL is their "feeder" league and they pay noting for that..so why change the model
  14. yeah at that price...almost glad to see him go...but for 180k...would have been nice
  15. basically....I was not smart enough, or good enough to translate the two different games...in a nut shell so when he flops down there and shows he is average at best..then what?..His CFL exposure ruined his years and years of training?...what a doucher Hasn't seemed to effect many many guys before him..and many with lesser hype succeed and flourish
  16. BC is going to be interesting...a lot of change there and some high powered (priced) signings, but at the expense of depth and most likely on defence...so they will be a hit or miss team...probably need to score 30 points or more a game just to have a chance to win, not a recipe for success by any means and one or two major injuries to a top tier guy, and they are hooped
  17. YEAH i JUST wish the "Canadian" QB thing would just go away...there is a reason there are usually none...they just aren't good enough
  18. I don't see the need for that...or why people moan and complain about no Canadian QB's...or having a need for them...why?..if there isn't one..let alone 9 around to put on a roster and be a player who can contribute, and contribute effectively then whats the point??..YOu roster a sub par player with no hope in hell of really amounting to anything other than say as a short yardage guy just because he's Canadian?..I have never understood this thinking and seems pointless and a waste of a roster spot and SMS
  19. Hence no reason to pay JSK 140+K I bet we get same type of production from Wilson..maybe not as many sacks as I think the Jeff's will gobble up a lot..but I bet a 80 to 90 tackles..couple picks and a forced fumble or two to go with Biggies production will be just fine..
  20. What's the big deal..the Canadian football league yes is Canadian for having payers who are Canadian but it's more about the different rules.. different field and all the different intricacies..and I'd rather start 5 canadians and have 5 just as good backups on roster to back them up as opposed to having a team with 5 (maybe) legit true starters and then some only there due to passport and backups who are in the same boat. All the while we let talent walk away because of it..it would make the product better..allow teams to recruit better imports and pay them better..and still be CFL ball. I know first hand of instances of potential real talent who were gonna come up..but then were persuaded and or talked out of it due to the fact they could be cut even tho they are better than a particular player solely due to the ratio..so they said eff it! Why bother wasting my time energy and health for that possibility. The so called purest who whine, and many "joe fan" probably couldn't even tell you who all the Canadians are on a team level..let alone the entire league..so who cares.. let the best compete but have a caveat that each team has to have at least X amount of Canadians developing on a practice roster
  21. Tough front..very nice
  22. My thoughts that the exemtion should be a player from your own city...regardless where he went to University...and in seasons where you may not have a local kid away at a school...you can claim a guy from a western school if you are in the West, or an Eastern school if you are in the east. A provision as well is that player should be classified as a 1st round selection and have to be payed relative to what other 1st rounders in his draft class get
  23. it used to be based on where abouts they went to school...or played junior
  24. I don't know of too many people who watch because the amount of Canadians...also most I know could care less about ratio if it was reduced..or totally abandoned...and I feel the same way and thats coming from a former "Canadian" by birth player. I prefer to see the best players play..regardless of where they are from to be honest, but that being said I would keep the ratio to some extent if it ever came down to a decision, and would be all for a 2 on offence and 2 on defense scenario as you would get the best of the best in the Canadian talent pool. I would also lobby for each team having to carry a minimum of 5 Canadians on their PR to develop. Don't think it is fair to the ticket buying fans to have to watch players like the Brock Ralphs of the world start on an offence when a stud American who can excite the heck out of a crowd, be cut loose soley due to ratio...grass roots ball would not diminish nor would Usports....it's no different in Hockey when they opened up the draft to europeans and Russians to get on NHL rosters...hockey in the U.S and Canada didn't wilt because the opportunities to play were lessened..all it did was make the quality of the NHL player exponentially better...and fans in Canada continued to follow their teams...same would happen in football...I would make an extra effort to come see a former Heisman candidate, or ex NCAA star player play than watching an unknown Canadian kid who played CIS ball, and not spectacularly just because he is Canadian
