Wild played for cheap last year...and Opo also restructured his deal to a lesser amount...and yes..both are off the books as of now as their deals are done

SUCKS to see character gys and true pro's as well as great ballers have to be released, but so is the business and game that top teams need to do this, and once the worth is less than the value you are getting, decisions have to be made. He will definitely catch on somewhere and kudos to the Bombers for allowing him more time to do this before free agency. Hopefully this is the evolution of our management team as well in being more Wallyesque and making the decisions as a players best before has started to show, as opposed to before where we held on far too long..wasting valuable SMS money that could be re-allocated elsewhere. Cornerback is the easiest of the linebacking/defensive back spots to fill in the CFL with American talent as the learning curve is pretty much nil, so not too worried about us covering that position with a cheaper option and using the extra money we would have payed to Randle toward a JSK/Biggie/Jeffcoat
-
Loses that Calgary sustained so far..Duke..Williams Lambert and QB uncertainty for pretty much all West teams but Winnipeg, is so far shaping up to make the west wide open and if we can retain JSK..Biggie and land a receiver has to put us as front runners
-
yes he had the most inside the 10 this year...I actually as well think this was one of his better punting years..he also started to tinker with his method/drops and the knuckling, curving ball he used often this year which made the returner have to cross the field to get it caused teams fits..also he kicked a ball that was difficult for returners to catch cleanly...later in the year our punt return coverage took a bit of a dip as we really missed Jones, Renaud..Gauthier at times and other key coverage guys who were hurt
-
top flight QB's will not go to the new leagues though...why take a huge hit in pay to play in an inferior product with tons of uncertainty...and then if things fold up, and teams here already have a good portion of their SMS accounted for.. some would be signing back for a huge cut in pay... If anything save for hamilton right now...and most likely Ottawa....every team is looking at huge question marks and unknowns at the QB position and you could have 3 or 4 teams all fighting over Reilly..Jennings...and maybe Lulay as guys who are starting calibre..)i'm assuming BLM will be getting at the least a TC look somewhere).two of which are big questions marks in themselves as well. and ol Kevin Glenn could be a hot commodity as messed up as that is...we are sitting prety good when you look at the whole picture QB wise and I wouldn't trade our situatin for anyones right now

I think he will re-visit and learn from the past where he finally made the switch from Willy to Nichols...he's seen this played out before, so if he has progressed as a coach as it seems...he will make the switch to at least see if Streveler sparks the team sooner than later...
-
Stubler will be good for Claybrooks...it's who he has based his systems off of and learned under..and what better mind and person to run your system as a new Head coach so you can focus more on the Head Coach duties initially...and know your defense will be handled by probably the best qualified person who knows it...smart move
-
Bolden was unique...he was a corner by trade...and played there...but they also used him to basically play man on a teams best receiver, and actually had no real "defined" position tho may have took up a space on a depth chart...he just played cover man
-
yeah...but of that 105k per over 25 people...14 work in admin/support..and make probably in the 40 to 50k range save for Walters and the 2 assistant G.M's...Miller is probably not part of that cap...or shouldn't be. so around 900k is probably all you would need for that leaving ballpark 1.68 miliion for 11 coaches if you choose to have 11...and most positional coaches/ST coordinators rarely make 100k or more...so thee is ample $$ to spread around...a smart well organized team can run well withing these limits....tho personally I don't see the need for it to be implemented
-
i would think no....but still on hook for it...that would severely hamper teams if things went south with a staff member and seeing as this was somewhat orchestrated and wanted by member clubs..I doubt they would have allowed for that to happen
-
don't understand that cap either...but thought I heard somewhere it was something that was brought up by the teams and something they were lobbying for...no?
-
generally speaking from experience...you won't wear a knee brace all year at a skill position (ie QB/RB/WR/DB) unless there is a need for it....as in an injury, or a condition due to any injury that would hamper your play Lineman will wear them for preventative measures, but anyone else will toss that brace away as soon as they physically are able to...so this suggests that Nichols was dealing with something all year, and it got somewhat better as the season went on...but it was painfully obvious to a person who knows what they are looking at...or for..that there was something that was preventing him to have any mobility early on, let alone be able to set up and throw properly, and it got in his head and he tried to compensate for it, and in a few games do really stupid **** to try and make something happen out there...and he looked horrible in doing so
-
none that I heard...but from experience with these issues, and things I have seen with former teamates my best guess is he had a slight tear of his medial collateral ligament...something you don't need to have surgery for, and can manage with a brace unless you totally shred it....or a possible ACL sprain where nothing was torn but required some rest, then use of a brace to support it and give a bit of extra stability so as not to re-aggravate it..or tear it....and the fact that he wore it all year lends me to think it may have been ACL related, and watching him not being able to drop back and really set like he used to...and make the throws he should have been tells me he had ACL issues as he had no solid base/foundation to work from for a good part of the year
-
Plus the fact he played the season with a bulky knee brace on...should indicate that there was an issue..no?
-
Bighill's family was here with him all season, and his kids have no school ties yet, or the next 2 years, so who is to say things won't be exactly the same again? Just because a player's extended family is somewhere, doesn't mean that is the only place they will choose to play. The fact that they are all still here says a lot as well...expect to hear a signing at the latest by mid january

but a team with 3 Darvin Adams' would be very successful in a receiving corp..hard to gauge value and production when you don't know what the scheme or calls are...he is a nice #1 but not a true game altering receiver, but pair him with one, and I bet you see his numbers really balloon...as he was a guy who was second in receipting touchdowns with 10...on a team that had a weak deep game, and sub par passing scheme...and also I believe led the league this year in 30+ yard plays believe it or not..so he isn't chopped liver by any means...just needs a stud running mate to open things up for him and Woli
-
I suggest in order of consistent shut down ability and all around play.... Juron Bolden , Rod Hill, Roy Bennett, Les Browne
-
No one says..well I don't say to throw him out, but allow TC to be the chance for Strveeler...Or Matt to prove they are NOT the best option as a starter, and keep the other as the back-up...and if Plan A fails...You have plan B To pull and idiotic move like Mike Kelley did, for sure I would hope have Miller can both Walters and oshea...
-
Agreed...we need one true legit number one to allow Darvin to just be Darvin. What I love about Adams is his effort in the blocking game when he is not the prime target..and his willingness to drop his shoulder and bust out extra yards on pure will. Some of his blocks the last few years have been key to the success of the play...as well as devastating! Be it a Mitchell..Mathews..whomever it would go a long way in making this offence very tough to defend. I agree on Woli inside...do that and you will see a 100 reception 1200-1300 yards a year guy consistently. Simonese as well is a stud in the making...and just needs his chance and he will run with it..huge..HUGE upside and can be a total mismatch nightmare out on the boundary..I went to a lot of TC and practices this year and watched him a lot..he is the total package for a wide-out and if you didn't know it...you would think he was an Import brought in who just needs a bit of marinating.. Nichols now...he is somewhat hampered with what is called...but also hampers a lot of what can be called, and also by personnel...he is the classic QB who will get it done well with a great supporting cast...nothing spectacular but consistent and safe..but he is not a game breaker or a guy who can make things happen solely on his own, or make players better around him with his ability to do things that are super athletic, Streveler now is a different horse..he has the ability to make things happen and the mentality to push the limits...sometimes it will back fire...but generally it works...Ala Mike Reilly...he needs reps tho, and to see things develop/unfold in front of him in game time...not just on film..and with his smarts and study work...he will develop quickly...and herin lies the rub...if he shows he has taken another step in camp...do you say Fack it and roll with him for the first few games and see what he does with it, and have Nichols in the bull-pen?..you are paying the same SMS hit on your QB's next year regardless where they sit on the depth chart so what does it really matter? If Streveler falters a bit, you have Nichols coming back in as the starter with a huge chip on his shoulder and a fire in his belly to prove people wrong...To me it's win win..a season is never lost in the first 3 games of the year anyway I recall when they first trotted Streveler out after Mini Camp practice to throw to some Bisons to see how he handled all the CFL type throws, and some accuracy tosses into the net before media or anyone was aware of who he was and why he was here to say the least was very impressed, and wondered where the heck the Bison's got this guy from..was tossing rail shots 45-50 yards with ease and nice crisp out passes from far hash marks...so his arm is no question mark whatsoever and with the right receivers downfield deep to make plays...with his running threat ..guys are gonna come free for him with coverage dropping off for fear of a run. That all being said...I still think Bennett is the best overall package we have at QB..runs just as good as Streveler (not as punishing) and has the best arm in camp I think

Labatte would have never had much of a shot in NFL and doubt he ever had any serious interest shown in him..and the last few years has been just average if you ask me..and highly overrated. How he got an all-star nod is beyond me this year.. He just living off his name and past accolades, and even those I think were a bit undeserved..If he fell on our roster this year, he would not have upgraded our line anywhere with the starters we had, and I would have kept Couture over him as the 6th guy for what we asked Couture to do a lot of the time...Labatte is too slow and un-agile now to do what would have been asked..

saw that coming...figured it was more a tire kick thing than anything...I don't see him leaving here unless fired, or the perfect situation arises...

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Booch replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's market and TV revenue driven world now...and with little to no TV success/exposure your never going to succeed...once the initial curiosity/honeymoon period ends. History has shown this multiple times and that was when the general public had more disposable income to invest, and the streaming/internet/social media etc..etc..was non-existent so there was a limited amount of things to spend money on and have consume your interests..so to expect either to succeed is a far cry From my experience living down there...if it's not NFL (even though at moment a lot of people disenchanted with it) or NCAA Div. 1 it just doesn't matter to most people, and that mindset hasn't changed, and even with the idea of using regional NCAA players for their respective teams as a lure/draw for the fanbase as one of their platforms...It won't matter, and in the long run won't be able to sustain itself financially with little to next to no corporate sponsorship/advertisement money flowing in to off-set poor gate revenue. Doesn't really matter what money source(s) are backing the league in the initial stages...eventually losses will be cut, and the thought of the NFL buying it as their feeder league is just as far fetched as they are not in the business of losing money in that type of venture, As NFL Europe proved (which the AAFL hopes to become) once it was realized it was a money loss...it was dumped..and the NFL is much happier to see guys develop in Canada and then poach from there. My take is the NFL and the CFL would be much better served to form an agreement where each team can have up to 2-3 players who are PR players deep down NFL rosters with minimal chance to get on the field able to be in a PR Draft and come to Canada to develop...actually play and not sit on PR's here. You have the NFL teams declare the players eligible and they hold a draft based on current standings in the league, and the NFL team continues to pay them and doesn't count against your cap... -
apparently showed up as an add on recent transactions...guy has speed tho
