Randle tho is younger and more versatile..can play 3 positions...Campbell is a one trick pony...all he can do and is suited for is that wide side corner spot...thats it
-
Fenner tho probably less than 2018 Heath...And Drew W is less money than 2017 Coates...Jeffcoat and Poop are less combined than 2018 Westerman and since we are going all Import on d-line thats a savings..2018 Nevis is less than 2017 Nevis...same with Medlock...and Dressler

knowing our needs I would think we had obviously 200k set aside for Westerman..obviously around 140-150 for Demski...most likely as the market is showing somewhere in the 130-150k range for a db/sam type guy and I would bet around 150-175k for a bigtime MLB...and you usually try and allot about 200kish for the available value/footsoldier type depth signings... so in my opinion we used 80k for Lafrance outta depth/foot soldier...ate up the DB/Sam budget..and the Demski budget...so would bet we have Westerman money and the depth money still...and if we were in better cap space than us lay people think...could have more and if it isn't used up...well then there's your 2018 re-ups at season end... From experience that is how teams do it..well fiscally responsible ones do it in free agency...you dont just put a pile of money in a pot..and sign..sign..sign and see what u have left...u plan for all scenarios and also have money there for a situation such as Westermans and if it had dragged on for days and he came back with a counter
-
pretty sure Demski money had noting to do with Westerman money or a potential MLB money..that money is most likely still there...if it wasn't that would mean we had about 300k to spend on free agents which is laughable
-
with 30k to spare
-
no doubt...top buck I would have been comfortable about would have been 200k...but good for him I guess...I bet deep inside by mid season he is gonna think why tho Agreed on the Riders o-line...especially if they put Bond at tackle...And really cant see how why they would sign Campbell now...and coming off the juice he may just plummett into mediocrity. Clarke and Dyakowski are pylons and for every good thing Bladek did out there he got abused 10 times ..Coleman is probably the 8th best starting tackle in the league..
-
I think it more of a cost versus value thing...he was going into his 7th year this year..most likely 3rd contract so was probably going to make over 70..80k...so effectively I think we just swapped his salary to Drew W entry level one and used the surplus elsewhere..smart sms management
-
Matt Black too has played some Corner
-
Courtney Stevens in the Hammer...The Schmoes too I believe started to start their young Canadian and may plan to this year
-
Jones has come in and played boundary corner many times...he got roasted once on that one play against Sask but that was more from confusion from several guys that day. Other times he played he played very serviceable...and he's a 4th year guy..hardly inexperienced. The guy who I think may eventually take over there is Conteh..he is a developing/project guy but has all the attributes you'd want there...and likes to lay the lumber to boot
-
Branning
-
Rather have Steele...or Waud for same money...even Gill if his body still isn't in shambles
-
Only if we choose to start 2 on defense...but is appearing we aren't at the moment..so not a huge need...but be a nice ratio option tho.
-
220 i bet
-
As I am with Javarus Jones already on our roster
-
I would say so....and probably en ought to bring in an Eddie Steele for ratio flexability and depth...may as well add another Bison
-
I don't think so...Lafrance was cheap..Fenner too I think..Demski was questionable...I doubt a shade over 320k was our max out cash
-
yeah...bad cap management....but based on my earlier post rough numbers: Hughes/Jefferson/Evans (510K) Collaros (430k) Bridge (gotta be 150K min) Carter (190K) Rossevalt (140k min..prob higher) Bond (min 130k prob higher..way higher) Henoc (190k I believe min) Labatte (200k) Owens (100k..i thought i heard 110k but we will use 100k) Messam (at least 120k) for 2.16 million of your cap for 12 guys now compare similar players roster wise on Winnipeg Nichols (450k) Durant (180k) Poop (60kish) Nevis (140k) Jeffcoat(60kish), Opo (160K) Bryant (190k) Bownam (140k) Demski 145k) Fenner (130k) JSK (60kish) Flanders(80kish) for 1.7 million of your cap 370k less for same amount of players and talent....thats 5 salaries at an average of 75k a year still to use to match their amount...plus we have depth already signed and many to 2 yr contracts...They still need to address o-line...db's...and depth to back-up multiple positions
-
and yeah...that would be a greasy Jones move and really make players think twice about signing there in the future..win win for other teams hahahaa
-
but Hughes(150ishK)...Jefferson/Carter(360k) re-upping...Evans...Collaros /bridge contracts(min 600k)...Now Evans, Bond, Messam (min 400k)..Labatte (most likely 200k) ...Henoc about (160k min)...thats just shy of 2 million of your cap invested in 11 guys....not to mention Roosevelt who is close to Carters and Owens is over 100k....like wtf...I think Jones is actually pretty dumb and most those guys are on 1 year deals to boot....
-
and we act like drunken sailors on free agency day...and thats not the way to do it....hahaha
-
so now can we say they are scrap heaping our cast-offs as they so like to claim...I bet Hurl now is a great signing..depth...experienced...yadda yadda...friggin goofs
-
if he signs in Montreal for 200 or a shade over he is just plain dumb...brother there or not seeing what other guys signed for..and some signing for less to be here...they are team guys and guys who u build around..Guess ol Westerman just playing for the money and name on the back of the jersey and not the name on the front and the chance to be part of something good
-
jake doesnt help us one bit if we choose to go all import on the dline...why sub in a lesser player when u dont need to and if he was signed as the starter Canadian position on defense...thats regression from last year...it's westerman now...or a ratio switch
-
or play d=back?...
