  1. How you recall that?? hahaha Its kind of auburn/brown...beautiful Been known to be in a mowhawk...shaved or 80's hair metal in style too
  2. I also worked out with Walby, David Black and a few others at beer bashes in the Oak Room at U of M but that wasn't really football related hahaha
  3. Been kicking around the boards since original OB days Played both U.S and Canadian ball...NCAA and went to 3 camps but 8 surgeries on my right knee two of which were reconstructions, and 2 on my left didn't allow me to pass any physicals anymore to the point were i was un-insurable so I decided to join the real world Used to train with Quincy Williams, James West, Ty Jones and Davis Bovell, and was involved with player development, training and conditioning in San Jose, Oakland and San Fran area. Worked at regional combines and Pro Days at San Jose State, Sacramento State and a smaller junior college (Diablo Valley) Thus a bit of insider knowledge about Charlie Roberts and Taman's keen eye and not wanting to bring him here and saying he would never make it due to his size, small hands and no speed...He was recruited basically by Ryland Wickman insistence of him being brought in to camp. That's Booch in a nutshell
  4. it should be closed now for bringing up TAMAN and KELLY.....shame on you!
  5. There's hits and misses all over, and no GM ever gets everything correct. No we don't do everything the same as every other team, and every other team doesn't do things the same as each other either, but I would bet 90 percent of the teams do these free-agent camps...cause that's basically what they are, and agents are constantly calling GM's about when and where they are going to be held. The NFL hold camps too, but not to the extent of CFL teams, tho you'de be surprised where they are paying people to scout players year round..China..Europe...which probably seems like a major waste of money and resources...but hey you never know I bet 80 percent of players are directed to them via Sports Management Agencies and in a lot of the cases the Agencies pay the registration fee for it...probably something most people didn't realize. The more avenues you use to find players, and the more stones you overturn, the better chance you have of it paying off. It's just tougher in the CFL as depending on how your roster is built, and how your ratio is constructed it makes it more difficult to fill spots in with the best Imports because you just can't make it wotrk.
  6. Not biased at all...but have been heavily involved in the sport...in Canada and the U.S, and in the business side and recruitment methods, not to mention still have ties with higher ranking management people on many teams so I think that I do have a pretty intimate amount of info into these things, moreso than most people on here. As well as being involved in player recruitment and development in the U.S and whats involved in it, and who and where a lot of the deep thinkers are this is not an uncommon practice and it's actually promoted....but hey...opinions vary and people will say/post/vouch for what they believe in or think they know...
  7. You said none of the good teams do it...so I guess Edm/Cgy/BC aren't good teams either. And the point of holding many is to cover all areas of the U.S to have a broader brush looking for talent. Has nothing to do with Kool Aide drinkers and kind of points a bit too some immaturity issues and a bit of ignorance on how teams scout and allocate budgets for it. At a lot of these camps there are invited/scouted players too, who are brought there to evaluate against other players...much like a mini camp and it saves the teams money and time in not bringing in a player come training camp just to be evaluated and cut within days. Allows you to bring in the best scouted players for camp. Teams have been doing it for decades now, it's just more widely known due to the age we live in. Also the charging of the prospects is to eliminate the chances of every highschool superstar wannabe from coming out and wasting everyone's time.
  8. Winnipeg, Calgary, BC, Montreal, Saskatchewan I know for sure with 100% certainty run open camps...so not sure where you get your info from. I pretty sure Edm does too as that is a Paul Jones trait. Nothing wrong with those kind of camps as many excellent players have come from them. I believe Ricky Ray was found at one..Leggett, as well
  9. yeah...not sure what criteria was used or how they went about it...some real bizarre ones on that list
  10. Neufeld would step in if Couture wasn't able to go
  11. yeah I guess we could DI Flanders instead of Lankford and at times throw Harris in the slot or as a hybrid like Drurie and Flanders is the RB With Adams, Dress,Denny,Washington and Feoli as the starting recievers
  12. Fogg can...Heath does too tho I'd wish they didn't risk injuring him there..Harris can too but same with Heath it's a risk. Most likely will be Lankford sharing it with Fogg..Lankfrd being the DI...well both them as DI
  13. was Devon Bailey not let go by Montreal as well..Canadian Reciever...6'4"..6'5" somewhere in there height wise
  14. most good teams are built from the trenches and out...so I would suggest we should at the least be a cross over but i truley see a home playoff game here
  15. and how easily Clark was getting trucked and rolled into the backfield repeatedly at center and they have a thread on their board asking this question: With a Strong O-Line and Great Receiving. Can we be successful without a Star QB? like really????
  16. Aand they will be behind early and often by a lot...so the run game will be abandoned and teams will just tee off on Glenn or whoever is in...and it's going to be ugly....And then Carter's immaturity and cancer will emerge...again and the team will become divided..implode...and it will be glorious to see
  17. not sure they would crack any roster...Maybe Hecht and Campbell soley based on passport, and only for special teams...they wouldn't be seeing defensive snaps And when you put it down to actually read and digest it personnel wise.....yikes!!
  18. Not to be critical of fans and all...but I have found myself to be browsing a lot there...and wow they are truley delusional with thoughts on depth here..depth there...do they not see they are razor thin and a lot of their starters, both import and non-import prob wouldn't start anywhere else?? Their o-line can't afford ANY injuries right now, and what they project to start right now may not even be totally healthy, or even their projected first stringer coming into camp. Any injury or even sub-par play and they are in a world of trouble...not to mention if KG goes down or isn't producing. That defense too...razor thin and a lot of questions...Save for Jefferson what do they really have who teams would be concerned about? They think Judge is going to be this savior ratio changer, but honestly he has missed all camp, was not a starter in College and mainly was a special teams guy and finished his career with 47 games played and 48 Tackles??..hardly the stats of a super demon. Factor in trying to figure out CFL nuances, the extra guy, motion, field size, angles, benchmarks on the filed as where to be..where to go..you aren't going to see big impact from him...maybe some more tackles as they will be forever punting. I played both versions and a Will/Sam and a defensive HB has the biggest learning curve, and requires the most adjustment and thinking
  19. no that Miller...Renaud was a 2016 draft pick...went back to school last year...Linebacker
  20. True...that is true...I'm guessing that if Conteh was healthy he would be on the roster as a special teams guy to get his feet wet..Renaud too from what I have seen is great on teams...high energy...gets his nose dirty
  21. Yeah that roster looks like what I would hope/think they do. Tho I think perhaps they only dress one extra o-lineman, or did Osh say they are dressing 7 this year? The extra special teams foot soldier would prob give us more bang for our buck with the use of that 44th guy...
  22. Also we need to develop a stud new reciever so in my books Washington starts...cuts his teeth and grows during the season...not get used sparingly, or jumps on and off the roster
  23. Yeah, Flanders really sold himself on me this TC and actually improved his game, so great depth and yeah, prob a luxury right now until we sort out the defence. Though I'm not sure why we havn't schemed to have offensive sets with Flanders in the backfield and Harris swap out with the canuck receiver and bring in Normand as tight end...and at times actually utilize the TE with passing plays as to keep the defenses honest and not key on anyone
  24. Until we see how the defense pans out I would think Flanders doesn't make the active game roster in lieu of Knox, or Carmichael if Leggett is ready and and DI one of them. I would leave Lankford off for now...Start with Washington and DI Fogg as returner/extra D-back
  25. I think initially it will be at expense of Flanders on the 44...He will make the 46 and be rewarded with a game cheque but we will see the benefits of the defensive rotation first and if it pays dividends. Because really history showed that when we did roster Flanders it was more or less a waste as he received next to know touches, whereas the defensive rotation would get significant. Time will tell I guess how we manage the roster
