  1. http://www.riderfans.com/forum/forum/main-forum/48171-what-does-jones-need-to-do-to-be-back-for-2018 some good funny reading...that initial overview/assessment of talent is sooooo ofbase...sheesh
  2. SHEPPARD..DANIELS..LIGGENS ALL cut...now who fills that bog bodied receiver that Lapo and his offence apparently need/like?? or is there going to be a more vertical attack? not happy with the release of both those guys...but whatever i guess wonder who the 4th import startrer is
  3. Actually HB is probably a tougher position to grasp for a rookie coming in, as it's kind of a new position for Americans, you don't really have that position south of the border, and the fact that there's a waggle and unlimited movement makes it tough. Middle linebacker...if you have a true stud it's much easier to step right in and play...it's just a matter of conditioning and being able to range from sideline to sideline a bit better
  4. i'm sure that between Hurl and Johnson it would be about 200k....but Johnson isn't a guy who I would dump. He gets a lot of abuse too which isn't really warranted
  5. yup..true..but there is room/need for more than just him...plus he more a Darvin Adams type...where Williams is the big bodied guy Lapo likes in his offence...ala Sheppard last year
  6. if not...I am not sure what the heck they are seeing or looking for...It's about time we kept and invested in a receiver to groom to become our version of Manny Arce..if not for anything but to give our group of pass catchers a different body type...cause it seems too that Sheppard has a hard time staying healthy so I don't see him as a long term answer
  7. I'm hoping that the plan is to choose one of Williams and Liggins to keep...and are going Williams...otherwise myself included am a bit frustrated and annoyed...but of the two if I had to choose I would have went with Williams
  8. yeah our O-line looks good, and for the next little while too...Makes even more sense to try and get some assets for Neufeld...we really don't need him and I would have no issue putting 80% of his salary into Behar if we could land him
  9. yes...right in Hurls way...along with the another olineman who shouldn't have been there either
  10. All on D-line. Thomas got washed right into second level and that didn't allow Hurl to get to the gap...the gap which was not his primary responsibility on that play to begin with because Thomas and his man impeded him and the other guard was on Hurl in the second level. Johnson played it right as well as he was responsible for contain thee and if it was a zone read run and Franklin kept the ball he would have had the edge...so Johnson reacted just fine when his responsibility was covered and he went for ball carrier...if the play would have went the other way and he bit on the running back you would all be up his arse saying how he needs to go. We were also in a blitz package with Wild so he was gone from the middle. The fault is inexperience from Carmichael as he was i think in wrong spot and got tied up with Loffler and his man and thats where the play broke down..If blame is to be pointed out it starts with Thomas and went to Carmicheal and Loffler...Not Hurl...not Richie Hall scheme...moreso a rookie brain fart and Thomas not being a solid every down option at Tackle
  11. nice...he also in school played punt coverage teams too...and is good at it
  12. 6"3" 230...4.5 speed...hands and nose for yac and not afraid of contact...as well as young...what can't u like about Williams...and Liggons is a bit smaller version of the same thing
  13. Agreed, those guys are the 2 that in my opinion bring the most to the table and I think have best upside. Williams as well is a receiver who loves to block and is very adept at putting guys on their can...and he plays cover on special teams, well he did in NCAA , but not sure they had him doing it on punt teams here yet. Kinda shocked they didnt get them more involved, but both were late additions to camp so perhaps they aren't where they need to be yet. But hoping they are kept
  14. Pretty sure you will Jeffcoat and Johnson on the AR, prob a d-back or knocked off and in import linebacker, and I would think 2 of only Thomas, Ekakitie and Butcher...not all three as we already will have Corney and Westerman as Canadian D-lineman so that would be excessive.
  15. Hoping to see Mr Williams get some touches...I'm liking this signing truth be told. I see a more athletic Nik Lewis type guy here. Love how he attacks the defence once he has the ball in his mitts. Goes searching for yac the way I like to see a receiver do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRftQQGIkRY
  16. there we go..neufeld for behar..
  17. Looking at the Riders and the Argonauts depth charts, I like the Argo's much better. They have more proven talent and if you ask me are much deeper. The Riders may have some serious depth issues that have to be addressed. I think that if things start out bad and slow in Saskatchewan you can see a real circus unfolding almost more bizzare than last year. And if Carter isn't getting the balls he feels he deserves, or the QB'ing just isn't getting it done (either by deteriorating skill from Glenn..or inexperience from Bridge) then I see him creating riffs amount the team and becoming a distraction and cancer...gee where have we heard that before??
  18. By Brought in I meant brought in via trade...not a find of their own
  19. I'm actually shocked Barker hasn't been picked up by someone too. even in a diminished role such as what Paul Jones does...or head of scouting/player development somewhere. He has supplied a lot of top shelf talent to the CFL and has a pretty vast network of contacts in the U.S
  20. same can be said for Hamilton..Collaros was brought in, and prior too so was Burris. Who have they really developed into a bonafide star lately. Montreal...Calvillo was brought in as well, and since?...noting but garbage really, Sask, same as us really. Durant was good, but prior to that basically free-agents and cast-offs from other teams. Nothing developed there in recent memory. Toronto has brought in a lot of talent, but all playing elsewhere now, but that was from previous regime, so we shall see if history repeats and Popp struggles to bring in any talent that sticks and becomes a true starter. Seems like recently only Calgary and BC has really developed a recruit to become a bonafide starter. Edmonton brought in Reilly, and jury is out on Franklin still...though showing signs So most teams can say same thing about developing their own QB in house. I don't see it as a big deal to be honest...now if you were constantly having to bring in players everywhere to fill in your roster from other teams rejects, or free agency then I'd be concerned
  21. I'm thinking they will keep Roberson around in some capacity, and even could see Flanders as the surprise cut and Roberson on roster due to his return ability
  22. where did you hide Spooner?
  23. I like how they questioned us over there for letting Bennett go, and that we settled for Nichols...and that resulted in numerous "lol's" from the gang there. If anyone had to settle it was them as Glenn was the only guy left who had any glimmer of hope for winning a few games there. I have no problem settling for a qb who just came off a 10-3 record as our starter, did more than enough for us to win the West semi last year (defence dropped ball on that one) and has over 3 years worth of starter experience and has won games then too
  24. Hoping Bennett fares well as it's good for the league to get new exciting blood especially at the QB position. That being said tho, training camp success going through scripted plays, against the same looks, and schemes under no real duress or urgency is not uncommon. Throw the lights on, game speed, new schemes to try and solve under fire and when your first option isn't there and you have to think fast and run through a progression is a different game all together. There was a reason he was 4th spot here and pretty sure that playing no ball all winter and getting no experience at game speed hasn't made him progress to 2nd string status and nipping at the heals of Glenn. I truly think Sask is going to be in a world of trouble if KG struggles or gets hurt, and probably even if he plays at his best. The ridernation gushing over Heaps too is laughable as he is even further behind developmentally than anyone they currently have. Jones should have shelved his ego...come to an agreement with Durant to lead/groom Bennett and another youngster and continued to look for prospects, rather than paying a 3 years older Glenn, and a washed up waste of time in an experiment in Young, who even if he was somewhat serviceable was a one..maybe two year guy anyway.
  25. prob none against that db group
