  1. Can't understate continuity in an organization..Top down having Miller..Walters, McManus, Oshea, Rigmadan, Goevia all continue to be a part of things now pushing what 5..6 years now (save for rigs) is kind of hard to believe in the CFL....And the rewards have been reaped, and should continue. Players see that too, and will want to be part of that.
  2. i would think so as well, most likely they were finalizing all those pieces first before announcing their own extensions, which I am led to believe were hammered out a week after the cup, but wanted to wait until the lapo situ was determined
  3. Maybe they will toss out some re-signings as well in terms of players
  4. lol....and why is that may I ask...according to Riderfans Walters is difficult to work for, yet Oshea re-upped..Miller re-upped Walters' and Riggie and McManus choose to stay here, and Buck has turned down offers the last 2 years...hmmmm...
  5. Entering an off-season where you won a Cup, and generally are raped and coming out on the coaching/management side of things with only losing one guy, and the one who truthfully I think will be the easiest to replace and have minimal impact is a pretty good off-season
  6. Tho it was a mere formality, will go a long way now in getting some of guys re-upped, especially the ones on the NFL hunt whom really aren't getting much in terms of guarantee/upfront $$ Knowing now things will be exact same next few years in Winnipeg makes re-signing even if for just one yr again very comforting
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing Buck bumped up to OC..and Damon Allen brought on board as QB/receivers coach rtpe role..and help in game planning like Buck was for Lapo He wants to get into coaching..obviously has ties with Osh as a former teammate and would be good for a guy like Strev...If i was Walter's and Osh..that's what I would be working on..and what better team to join than defending Grey Cup champs
  8. Darvin inwoukd hope is back..adds the grit in the corp and hopefully Lawler..Bailey take next step..even Whitehead or one if the new guys coming in..we still need a vet presence out there tho so Darvin would fit that nicely as the number 2 guy..or 3
  9. I dunno..if not I'd like if we targeted him
  10. A dart is a dart.. lol.. he also threw a nice ball for a comebacker where only Lawler could get it..something that a guy who "cant" pass would have biffef
  11. They did just an RB who could make some noise..and their oline wssnt putrid..just their QB..they also have 2 american receivers who are studs..
  12. Well that system was highest scoring last few years..and just won a Cup...so...
  13. Wow...call me shocked..but happy Must be more going on there behind the scenes then being let known..hopefully a good guy like Khari doesn't suffer cause of it. If I was a betting man..Step right up Mr Chris Jones...he will be dumped in 3 games
  14. why you say thtat?..Him and Pinball are pals don't you know...rumour has it he wants to go there and be the DC/ST coordinators, cause he played there and has ties there, and the buddy thing and all...cmon man! Also according to Riderfan's Kyle is difficult to work for...
  15. If we announce Oshea Extended, Buck promoted and extended, Hall back along with all the other Assistants then it will be a very good off-season, Lapo loss won't be hard to over come, same with Rigmaden...that one hurts but not end of world, and a lot of his work the last 2 years will come to fruition this and next year anyway..so we good
  16. I think so as well as Matt knows Lapo's system and what he runs and would be a more seamless transition there for Lapo than have a new guy learn it and excel at it right outta the gate, and he certainly doesn't want to start off 0-5 or similar record coming off a 3-15 season
  17. pretty much yup...may also mean Dinwiddie wants his guy too...Arbuckle...things gonna get interesting
  18. well now people can relax and accept the fact Osh was going to be back...even though they haven't heard any news...guy is meticulous about his job and been busy with year end stuff
  19. of the 3 guys available...excluding Masoli whomever we land we will be fine with Strev...and even with say just Strev...playing him as a QB first if he is our only option with McGuire behind him..we still have a good year and get in play-offs...I'm not worried one bit on the offensive side of the ball
  20. not neccessariy...I just tend to not post negative things on certain individuals..as I wouldn't appreciate that being bantered about..I do say things that aren't all rosey at times, but don't feel the need to much As for Strev, I've discussed him and revisited his film from South Dakota and the last 2 years here with recruitors/scouts/coaches in the U.S at the camps I get involved with and they all say the same, he has progressed a lot, and needs what was mentioned in his pre-draft evaluation (which he is getting here) and that is patience and work within a system suited to him. Christ he's been here hardly 2 years and has done more in those 2 years than a lot of past/former back-ups that came to Canada over 3..4..5 years You have to remember he was wayyyy under experienced coming in to camp and there was a lot of things he has had to be coached up with that he never had been before..and by all accounts has taken it in and ran with it (no pun intended) immediately...is a very quick study. He hasn't had quality QB coaching...let me rephrase that "much" quality coaching and that's what he needed, and time to develop what he's taught...the main thing that kept him out of the NFL radar..teams don't have the time and money to invest in that in how the current nfl works, and would much rather someone else do it for them..Hello CFL Interesting point to mention though that everyone who I have talked to about this situation with football pedigrees pretty much universally asked "wtf was Lapo trying to accomplish with him, and was on a quick path to ruining him) A sentiment I agree with...there I don't say things always trending on the optimistic Also he had opportunities to attend some TC's as a camp arm, or a receiver/hybrid but turned it down..3 offers I am aware of...
  21. it was a bad luck injury...and have seen it many times..I actually thought it was a broken collar bone, but not an injury that resulted from something pre-existing, or from being weak/fragile...that notion needs to be stuffed away
  22. Yeah both he and Collaros got 200k+ upfront bonuses before, and doubt they ever see that again, it's automatically up against your cap and if they get ko'd early on and are 6 gamed...you basically have no savings at all. Maybe it's written in yr 2 that they get a sizeable bonus if they are injury free, but going into this year ain't gonna happen
  23. I think Matt will get around what he got with a slight bump up...he won't be given huge upfront money like before, maybe half what he got last contract, but a larger base salary, same situation for Collaros I would think...Both I bet in and around 475-525k...how it's broken up is up to the GM but half as a signing bonus won't fly Strev I can see getting a 100k salary signing bonus..100k base and some kind of per start bonus ..likely 5k which if he met them all would net him 90k more and bring his total to just shy of 300k..which is fair and reasonable and something he would be happy with
  24. Zack is gonna have to I think accept the fact he is going to get a moderate upfront signing bonus...the 150 to 200k ones waved bye bye after last year, and a decent base with large play-time bonuses...protects his team, and gets him paid well if he can stay on the field..any team that gives him 200k again before the first snap of the season and then hard money totaling 250 to 350k more as the base salary spread over the season should have their G.M shot
  25. Kind of irrelevant tho as you can only roster 2 guys next year, so none of them is gonna wanna be on the sidelines in their jeans
