  1. As a counterpoint... if their CND Qb went down they were basically starting an import running back at QB anyways
  2. I expect they'd lay charges if it was a complaint from a parent who discovered the interaction and no clear evidence on his knowledge of the minors age in the texts (i.e. no smoking gun on the minor lying or the person charged knowing). Especially if the minor's appearance wasn't particularly misleading (i.e. it wasn't obvious someone could mistake them for an adult).
  3. They were pretty happy with Mauro's sack a couple games back
  4. Yeh honestly not blowing the whistle was the right call - it was a relatively close call between fumble/incomplete pass and not blowing the whistle early was definitely on their mind after blowing the whistle too soon in the first half. Let the play complete and then decide whether it was an incomplete pass or a fumble return for a td / any penalties. Yeh that was a cool reaction to catch on camera - he definitely didn't want to have to punt the ball back to CGY and give them a hail mary shot to win.
  5. This was NOT a good deep ball game by Collaros - Even the first deep shot to McCrae for the TD was underthrown. The underthrown balls also weren't underthrown because he couldn't step into the throws.... just plain underthrown
  6. TBH - from that distance and what was needed to win I'm surprised we didn't just punt on the last play - You have the right cover people on the field in case you don't put it through the back and for a 30 yard field goal he only needs to kick a 50 yard punt to put it out of the back of the endzone (which is slightly more than his average but this is a special case - directional and hang time doesn't matter, just distance) I kind of wonder if the shank on the "game winner" happened because he was trying to kick it extra hard to make sure it would go out the back if he missed, instead of just trying to kick a normal field goal.
  7. Beautiful weather too... going to be a madhouse
  8. Based on the play where he got hurt alone it looks like Agudosi blocks hella good - He was completely dominating his guy on the play where he got injured.
  9. I guess that the sticking point - Does the money and personalities that come with it make building a "team first" culture in the modern NFL untenable? Recent history has HC hires in the NFL with much less overall coaching experience than in the past. I will say though that it's felt like the emphasis has been on hiring HC's who bring an offensive/defensive philosophy with them which would hurt O'Shea's consideration since he would be fully reliant on his OC/DC's in those respects. I'm definitely not saying it's likely, but recent history in the NFL has shown a willingness to look at non-traditional HC's.
  10. Depends on whether you believe that Buono left Calgary because the ownership meddled (pressure to make the owner's son their starting QB). BC never really moved on from Buono... Seemed to me that the decision to stop coaching in BC was Buono's (so essentially retirement from HC)
  11. Look at Kingsbury - He had 2 years of experience in the NFL and then 5 years of mediocre performance as a college head coach before he was made the Cardinals head coach... Just saying - If O'Shea wins 3 straight titles (and if we continue on our current track I'd be shocked if he didn't win two straight coach of the year titles) - It's not beyond the pale to think an owner looking to rebuild from the ground up might give it a thought.
  12. Definitely well blocked but Grant's acceleration got him past the first tackler after the catch... It feels like almost every other time we've tried that play the lead tackler snuffed it.
  13. TBH - The most likely scenario O'Shea leaves Winnipeg is by retirement or he gets a call from the NFL - There are more than a couple teams down south that look alot like Winnipeg looked before O'Shea and Walters took over... Especially since so much news is made of how O'Shea transformed the culture, etc. Trestman got a shot in Chicago - He didn't work out but O'Shea is a different kind of coach. It's something like a 10X on his salary... life changing money to do it for a single year.
  14. Arbuckle isn't a gun slinger though... he's a game manager style QB (I actually think he's an extremely good fit for Plop in Ottawa) Cornelius/Ford makes sense with Elite receivers - Very mobile QB's with big arms = the mobility gives them the time to hit their receivers for chunk plays. I actually think Cornelius has flashed some real skills, despite being on a gongshow team and being thrust into a starter role sooner than he should have.
  15. He's shown flashes with passes that were very precise. Where I think he's not shown particularly well is reading the defense pre-snap to be able to make on time passes through the middle.
  16. In some ways it made a little sense - If you're Jones and you believe that one of the reasons the Elk's were so terrible last year was a lack of impact players to support your QB's - Pay well to bring the league's best receiver to be alongside Walker (whom you might believe to still be good). Right now he isn't paying any QB's real QB money (I bet Arbuckle was on a pretty light contract when he started there + the speed at which Jones dropped him makes me think he needed him to either be lights out or to not have his salary on the books). Hope that having really high quality pieces on offense around your rookie QB's will allow you to be competitive on offense - the Elk's salary on QB+Receiver+Running Back is probably pretty similar to what we are paying for QB+Rec+RB. It's kind of a similar situation to BC - Except I think BC is actually in a somewhat worse position since they can't just drop a single receiver to bump Rourkes pay up to starter QB level like the Elk's can/
  17. Grant made the sideline pass to a standing still receiver into an actually successful play... Normally those got us negative yard
  18. He didn't look entirely like a new starter against good D's... just didn't look like a worldbeater against them. I mean his worst game of the year is a 250 yard outing with an equal TD/Int ratio...
  19. Yeh - We'll be in the hunt too if Schoen gets a NFL look. I bet if the money is reasonably similar (i.e. within 25-50K) he comes back here... probably misses the feeling of being on a winning squad.
  20. If I remember correctly that particular pick-6 got into Jefferson's hands as a result of BA blitzing Reilly and disrupting his throw... It was less disrespect for the opponent and more trying to give the guy he felt deserved the stat-line his due. I don't doubt the fact the Bombers were absolutely shellacking BC played into it - He didn't need to worry about beating the other team by that point.
  21. Lawler is likely not going to get re-signed anywhere near his current contract. He will almost certainly get multiple offers from teams across the league in free agency next year. Taking the money this year won't hurt his stock next year
  22. I looked away for like 5 minutes and BC somehow piled on 16 points?!
  23. Man Hamilton is so atrocious in the 4th quarter... the entire team is just anti-clutch
  24. Feel bad for the Ottawa D... held the other team to 10 points when your own O scored more for the other team than yours
  25. Actually pretty close to a full house for that stadium anyways - Looking at capacity is funny.... looks like it was 20K... then they spent millions making it 25K in 2009, then they reduced it to 23K in 2014, then they reduced it to 20K in 2020....
