  1. I could see Medlocks kicking this year actually having hurt him on the voting for best punter. He had a down year for field goal kicking this year.
  2. You just can't get any push off the tip of your foot when it's hurting bad... just no strength there.
  3. When we beat BC in week 1 we didn't know they had absolutely no run game yet and our DL wasn't just pinning their ears back on every single play. CGY almost (probably should have) lost to them the next week as well (Arbuckle had the heroic last minute comeback TD drive for the win). After that point teams figured out that Reilly was going to be playing rag doll all season because their OC forgot to scheme a run game into the offense.
  4. Streveler suddenly signed as the team fullback.... who occasionally takes wildcat snaps and sits in the pocket to pass
  5. it's easy to underestimate how much of an impact having a team guy like Strev has a positive impact on a team. When guys see him running over people it absolutely motivates them.
  6. Fewer turnovers - Hopefully Strev puts some serious work into his accuracy over the off-season (I'd say probably half of his turnovers were from underthrowing/bad placement on his balls)
  7. I'd take Claybrooks over Richie Hall... He'll be hungry to show he's not washed up.
  8. I'd personally prefer to see MOS stay in Winnipeg... I hope he makes the decision quick enough that Khari isn't locked up by Montreal already. If I was Montreal I'd have already offered Khari a multiple year extension at premium dollars given what he's done with the team (and the near certainty of him winning Coach of the Year)... the fact that hasn't been announced makes me think Khari wants to see offers from other teams first.
  9. yeh right - the point remains the same - Hall of Fame QB starts playing for Dave Ritchie and he starts to win. Not saying Ritchie wasn't a good coach... but at least some of his success was having multiple hall of famers in their prime on the team through the 2000-2003 seasons (I'd consider Sellers a future hall of famer if he'd stayed in the league as well)
  10. Ritchie took over in 1999, had a mediocre team that didn't make the playoffs, 2000 had a mediocre team that was out in the first game of the playoffs (and got Khari some starting time) - Come 2001 Khari was ON FIRE and they almost won the cup based on Khari + Stegall + Roberts + Arland Bruce Not to say Ritchie wasn't pretty good, but the turnaround in 2001 was also in part due to having a bunch of hall of fame guys in their prime on the team at the same time.
  11. This is a big part of it... anytime Strev takes off after checking reads with the O-line in pass protect you can basically assume that would have been a checkdown pass from Nichols Strev has turned a couple of those into HUGE gains, and a bunch into 2-5 yard gains. Harris turned most of those checkdowns into 2-5 yard gains and in a couple he broke a tackle for a big first down / big gain. Problem is now the opposing defense can't just key in on Harris when play starts breaking down.
  12. Not to mention - Healthcare insurance premiums for football players would be like 2400$/month... That's probably 33% of his takehome pay and signing up post injury would mean any costs associated with the injury would be prior medical condition and not covered.
  13. He wasn't paying Rockhill SC tax rates on his 100k/year income... For all the years he played in the CFL he was paying Canadian tax rates meaning that his take home was significantly less than someone making 100k/year in Rockhill (assuming, almost certainly correctly, that Rockhill has a MUCH MUCH lower tax rate than anywhere in Canada)
  14. me and my wife have been over that combined for at least 7 years now and we aren't even close to paying off a mortgage... nevermind retirement level savings
  15. I'd argue a football player probably has higher than average expenses as well - Trainers and gym memberships + potentially rent on two homes.
  16. 100K a year DEFINITELY doesn't leave you "set for life" after only 7 years
  17. I can't see Lapolice in Mtrl... he's looking for a head coaching role and winning Coach of the Year is probably going to mean Khari gets to lose the "interim" in his title. MTRL will be hiring an OC replacement, not a Head coach.
  18. Not only was he raw as an HC when he got the job... the team was a dumpster fire due to bad mgmt and a revolving door of coaches and GM's. Walters and O'shea decided to try and build a consistent championship contender, which means not pulling a Taman and trading away all your draft picks on aging vets. That combination was going to end up in ALOT of losses for their first couple of years (combined with the fact we really didn't have a QB until we acquired Nichols)
  19. To be fair... where they gave them the ball all it took was forcing them to only gain 10-15 yards per attempt and they probably don't have enough time to score a TD. The breakdown that gave them a 50 yard bomb and left them on our 20 with 20 seconds left was the real issue
  20. he only went down be cause the guy was twisting his foot off
  21. guys pretty sure we're not getting 300 yrds passing this game... might hit 500 rushing though
  22. He's his own agent so I imagine negotiations during the year when the team wants him concentrating on the game aren't a great idea.
  23. Petermann has been clutch as a blocking receiver as well
  24. Given that this happened immediately after the bye week.... my thought is that he got an offer outside of football while back at home.
  25. Yup... twice with the same injury... there's a real possibility that is going to be an ongoing thing for the rest of his career. My thought is Huff is watching BLM for any signs of hiding some pain... if it looks at all like it starting to feel tender again he'll start talking about moving BLM. BLM probably gets him A LOT of CND talent (both future and present) to improve his team.
