  1. Yeh he said he was working on punting styles with Koch (NFL Punter). These guys are essentially innovating a completely new punting style... a comparison would be to pitchers in Baseball. What 99% of punters currently do is throw fastballs on every pitch (tight spiral for maximum distance/hang time) - Koch and Medlock are adding knuckles and curveballs to the mix and it's doing wonderful things to their net yards (also IMO it's increasing the likelyhood of punts not being caught/being fumbled in the air)
  2. Yeh sample size is a big problem in making a pure stats based comparison between Strev and Nichols When there are only 150 passes attempted every single INT brings up his % quite a lot... and as someone else mentioned, probably 3/4 of Strevs attempts were from him coming straight out of college, never having played the Canadian game. Nichols stats from his first 3-4 years had him at 3-4% of passes end up as INTs which isn't that far off Strevs numbers. On top of that - This year Strev is currently at 15% of passes thrown are INT's which is DEFINITELY skewing his overall numbers up. Essentially his stats currently are looking at the INT % just after he threw an INT, which hurts his overall % much worse because every INT is a much higher % of his total work. Last year Stev threw INT's 3.5% of his passes vs. Nichols 2.5% overall - Not a huge difference and Strev was throwing them at the same rate as Nichols was for the start of his career
  3. Yup... saving his salary off the cap. If Speller looks worse than a 1 gamer then I fully expect Neufeld to make a pretty quick reappearance.
  4. The other was a pass that was the correct decision (the player he was throwing to was wide open) but he was hit while he was throwing the ball which caused him to underthrow his target. BOTH of Strevelers INT's this season were at best 50% his fault (I'd actually argue in both cases he was less at fault than his O-Line for the interception)
  5. Gotta say... the stats didn't tell the story for Davis' performance Both interceptions were on his receivers imo the second was obviously a fluke that the receiver should have caught (you can argue he underthrew the ball but with how open his receiver was it was hard for the db to turn) The first looked like his receiver stopped coming back to the ball on a scramble play after the ball was thrown.... receiver standing still with the db running past for the pick....
  6. Wasn't the one pick in the Ottawa game a tipped ball and the one in Toronto was an underthrow because he got hit as he released?
  7. To be fair... Nichols has ran 7 times this year and averaged 5.1 yards per carry. The Nichols "nobody expects a turtle to run" draw play has been effective all year long (the non-score was probably the worst showing of the play yet.
  8. I had a buddy who made a fuckton of money on Nortel... After the big crash he basically gambled call options from the bottom of the dip in 2002 until it skyrocketed in 2004... decided that was probably the end of the good times and starting buying puts all the way to 2008 when the premiums started getting too expensive (because everyone and their dog were expecting the company to go bankrupt) All in he took 1000$ and turned it into something like 300,000$ buying nothing but Nortel over 6 years...
  9. Interestingly there isn't a single player on that list for which BB owns the rights
  10. 9 points off something like 4 turnovers.... Our defense was impenetrable against their backup practically
  11. IMO O'Shea goes to Toronto for one of two reasons 1 - He wants to show he is a master at turning teams around so that he gets a shot down south (Doing what he did in YWG twice would almost certainly get him a shot). I don't think MOS has any interest in NFL or running a major US College Football program so this is not high% in my mind. 2 - Someone convinces him that they need him in Toronto to save the franchise/CFL.
  12. We're also 2nd in the league in rushing yards - Averaging 150 per game vs. 112 for 3rd place. WPG and MTRL are averaging almost 50% more rushing yards per game than the next 3 teams.
  13. It was actually the PERFECT game for that to happen as well... Toronto not actually good enough to come back and serve the lesson with a loss, but they put up enough yards/pts in the half to ALMOST (if not for the goal line stand) make a game out of a blowout. I'm sure our defense has seen these games and the embarrassment of almost making the TO offense look good when they took their foot off will hopefully keep it from happening again.
  14. Could also be a case of not wanting to piss a player off nitpicking them of $$ in their contract. Matthews isn't hurt ATM and the Bombers don't want to release him so putting him in IR if it costs Matthews $$ would leave a bad taste in his mouth... do that enough and you end up with a bunch of individuals playing instead of a team.
  15. I actually liked Walker returning punts... May not break a game open with the way he returns the ball, but really consistently gets you a solid 10-20 yards off every punt and catches em all in the air.
  16. If that was the case the Bombers would be lightening up the load they give Harris (given that he plays a far more punishing position than Matthews)
  17. It's also due to our ridiculous completion percentage... We only have 9 field goals attempted to 19 TD... the next closest team is 12 field goals attempted to 14 TD's (I think EVERYBODY else has more field goals than TD's) We simply aren't driving the field and then kicking field goals... we either don't move the ball much or we put it in the endzone.
  18. So the issue with disguising your blitz is that you leave your players in a less effective blitzing & a less effective coverage position than if you just blitzed or just sat in coverage. I guess Richie just doesn't believe the value in not knowing what's coming exceeds the value in having his guys set up where he wants them.
  19. I'm liking Walker as a field position returner... just consistent north south yards
  20. Bombers just piling it on from all 3 phases suddenly
  21. lol this comment aged quickly
  22. My guess is that once Matthews has had enough practice he'll get slotted back in.
  23. Could be he WAS a mediocre OC but will be a good HC... the skillset for excellence between the two doesn't precisely overlap. Take Lapo... I think if he moves back to HC he'll end up having trouble again because his skillset isn't driven towards team motivation.
  24. Wade Miller taking the reins of the Bombers was really a blessing. The guy knows how to run a business, and is running the Bombers like a business. He was definitely sticking his neck out there by committing to Oshea/Walters long term given their relative lack of experience.
