The Bombers are developing their backup QB in a refreshingly innovative way. They obviously have a number of "Streveler" packages that include pass/run options primarily centered around intermediate to short gains (less than 20 yards). Last year they consistently inserted him into the game when the stakes were real "the game was obviously still in contention" to play those Streveler packages. It's WAY more consequential playtime than any backup I've ever seen get outside of injury to a starter. Allows him to build confidence in a more natural way while simultaneously providing additional offensive depth to the Bombers attack.

So here is the thing - WBB could argue that Durant modified the contract in a way that made the contract invalid by retiring before playing football. Essentially the initial contract was - We pay you 70k on Jan 15, you come play football for us, during which we pay you an additional X dollars per year. Durant modified the contract by retiring before playing - WBB pays me 70K on Jan 15, I retire before playing football for the club. The problem for Durant is that contracts in Canadian law require that both parties receive consideration for a contract to be considered valid. By modifying the contract and retiring before playing Durant has essentially made the contract invalid (WBB received no consideration in return for his signing bonus). The only thing Durant could argue is that WBB received his not playing for another team in return for 70K.)

Gotta say I'm really liking how the Bombers have been developing Streveler. Even notwithstanding this last game where they gave him the 4th quarter to run the offense, they have been consistently using him in their short yardage red zone scoring packages... and not just as a running threat. He looks like he could be our QB of the future and I really appreciate the way their trying to make that happen.
