  1. Yeah, like seeing the continuity on our line and that we have a plan for the future as well. Slowly bringing guys along and having a plan to replace or even out-compete current starters or backups. Outside of Neufeld, that is a really young group of Canadians. I'm understanding the Gray pick more and more.
  2. I've played soccer on grass, the older turf (Fury style I believe) and the newer stuff the bombers use. I love playing on the new stuff. Grass is great too if its in top shape. Football on the other hand, I just love playing and watching when it turns to a muddy field. Seemed like it always helped the esks having grass too.
  3. Agreed wbbfan. But you can never get the full picture of course. Even looking at completion % and yards per completion can be altered by the system the QB is placed in and then the receivers as well. The receivers ability to get downfield and produce YAC yards. Khari had an amazing compliment of receivers.
  4. A bit strange to have someone mostly known for being an "insider" working for a team. Was never a fan of his writing, and he's not going to be providing the scoop on the company's dime.
  5. Now that the depth chart apparently shows that Neufeld lost his NI status, I guess I would be leaning more to drafting an OL. Neufeld will be in tough to make the team without the passport.
  6. lol, exactly what I was thinking of as a counter argument when I posted it. I thought it was time to replace Willy long before it happened, but I probably wasn't as hard on him as others. The worst part is Willy was solved, put pressure on him and he's useless. Couldn't beat the blitz. However, when Ricky Ray was in his prime I think he did a great job moving the ball and being successful on short throws. Big difference is he could make you pay for putting pressure on him. I remember several games he just nickle and dimed us and it was so frustrating to be on defence the whole time.
  7. The first thing I tend to look at is completion percentage. Its flawed and can be heavily dependent on quality of receivers, time given by blocking, system the QB is in, but its does a decent job telling how much a QB is able to do his job. Especially if you're talking about consistent high completion percentage over a career with multiple coordinators and systems.
  8. Carr, Smith and Chisum are the ones that catch my attention initially.
  9. Interesting breakdown. But since stats in football are so complex, QB efficiency would also be affected by the quality of the team around the QB. This in turn would affect the number of wins too. I think QB stats are partially to differentiate the ability of QB from the number of wins he receives. The only QB stat with a perfect correlation to team wins is QB wins and we admit this doesn't tell the whole story. We look to other stats as an attempt to see how much of an affect the QB had in contributing to team wins.
  10. Yup. Hardaway was/is the difficult one who enjoys playing games.
  11. Yeah. I remember the Kohlert pick when we basically had a contract in hand. Surprised they would have had no interest in Teague or Neufeld considering how much of a part they played with our team since.
  12. I only vaguely remember what he said around that time. Did a quick search and can't find anything. Can someone refresh my memory?
  13. I actually enjoyed the mics as far as I can remember. Expected it to be very gimmicky, but I'm surprised to hear how many didn't like it.
  14. You forgot one touchdown pass as well.......
  15. Is this the story you are talking about? http://www.snopes.com/man-kicked-buffet-sues/
  16. Not to mention Waggoner who could also be considered part of that draft. Forgot about him.
  17. With Loffler already contributing and Corney and Couture seeming like they could be starters soon if any of these other guys develops into something, even a rotational guy, that would be amazing. What a good job drafting!
  18. As someone who owns firearms and has bought firearms recently, I was shocked and disappointed how much information I found about how suitable different guns are for self-defense. Trying to find information about how the gun is for hunting and there just seems to be so much more about how they can be used for self and home defense. Almost exclusively American sources. Couldn't believe some of the stuff I saw. The worst was talking about buying a gun for every member of the family, including buying a gun for a child with a specially shortened stock so they could protect the household in case the parents were incapacitated!
  19. Youtube is one thing, but having team produced videos. Maybe something like they've done for Stegall when honouring him or other players. The Roberts clip package is cool, but low quality. The team could do so much more, maybe show clips of old interviews or stuff to show the personality and such. For me that is what cements people into die hard fans. During the rough years, talking about swaggerville or other outstanding moments/eras/games/players are what's kept me with this team.
  20. Love that video. Makes me happy to think that I was able to witness his special abilities both in person and on tv, rather than just hearing about them from older bomber fans like I do with Ken Ploen and other legends. I wish the bombers and CFL would create more video's of special players, plays and games and leave them up on their website. One of the things that keep my attention in football is being able to get cherished memories from any possible game that can live on through conversations with others... "Remember that time that...." One of my favourites with my dad is remembering that time we were leaving and Westwood won the game on a 55 yard field goal. I know I sure wouldn't mind re-watching that Bomber-Eskimo game when Milt made his miracle catch rather than watching garbage TV.
  21. Last time I lived in Winnipeg I had season tickets at the Polo Park location. Something around $100, sitting in the end zone, but it was excellent value. Really enjoyed it. It was during swaggerville and pretty much every game was worth going to. Lived in the north end at the time and biked to just about every game. You wouldn't believe how quick you could get into and out of games on a bike. If I had been driving to the games, my commute would have likely been twice as long. I know many fans wouldn't consider it, but I would expect biking in and out of the new location would be even better. I used to bike there from Osborne village daily when I was a student. Tons of bike infrastructure for getting into and out of the area. Again, many wouldn't consider it, but that is what I would look at if I moved back to town. Always wanted to combine driving and biking. Park a bit out of the way, but be able to get there quick on a bike. Gotta have a truck or decent sized vehicle to take the bike I guess....
  22. Do you guys use the CJOB app for streaming? When I just have a cell I use TuneIn Radio (android) and it hasn't been stellar recently, so I might try the switch today.
  23. Even though I don't have memories of listening to Cactus Jack, I still love reading posts when Cactus Jack is being channel. Very entertaining.
  24. A little late to the posting party, but maybe a specific thread for just expressing the immediate feelings right after a loss (maybe a win too)? I know I was extremely upset right after the loss and it kinda helps seeing others express those first feelings that occur before realizing the sky isn't falling. Soon after I don't envision the team going winless this year and can take it in perspective and realize its just one game. I think I remember someone saying that is what the chat is for, but I for one rarely have access to chat during, or immediately after the game. Perhaps it could filter the hyper-negative stuff post loss from all the other threads. Just a thought. Second, I am a teacher in Northern MB and I introduce my students to football, most of who have no idea about the game other than what the actual ball looks like. After playing it a bunch they quickly gain interest.. Its a great sport after all. Every once in a while I show them clips from the CFL, return tds, exciting plays and such and the become really excited about watching the game. Get some of them to watch bomber games, but lately its pretty frustrating with the bombers not winning and often putting up boring and depressing games. Hard to get them hooked to following the team, but I'm in my early 30s and somehow I'm fully into it even with what's gone on in the 25 years I've been a fan.
  25. I noted about them supporting political candidates and having political guest authors to point out that their stories are likely going to have a perspective or bias which they try to influence the reader with. Not that their opinion is wrong just because they supported bush. I have some of earthlings, but even further, I have seen similar stuff in person and the food system we have is sickening. I do not eat that much store-bought meat as a result and instead eat what I have raised, hunted or has been hunted or raised and given to me. I don't make a big deal about it at restaurants and stuff, nor when I am offered food by others. Guess that's a bit of a quiet compromise I make.
