  1. Come on!! Entirely different situation. Burris has a year left and the Harris will take over. harris wouldn't want to wait behind Willy anyway - I doubt he would even consider signing in Winnipeg.
  2. I see Wiecek still says Bombers working on deal with Andrew Harris. I guess actual research and reporting just gets in the way of the keen insight his unsolicited opinion provides.
  3. Shea Emery retiring: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/veteran-linebacker-shea-emry-announces-retirement-after-eight-cfl-seasons-367501761.html Was he an FA? I don't think Jones was relying on him playing next year anyway.
  4. Agree Ripper. But I'm not too excited about Macho Harris - anyone who played on that defense last year you have at least question.
  5. Freudian slip there, 17to85, or intentional. On topic - if this for the reported $170K then this is a very fair deal. I suspect Moore is not going to be signed.
  6. I like the names but signing Carter, Smith and Fuller would be too expensive, IMO.
  7. I thought the riders fired Taman?!?!?!?
  8. I can't recall any Bomber brass saying 2015 was going to be a Grey cup run, much less Waggoner being a key contributor to that run. Maybe it was said but that Global article on drafting Waggoner speaks to upgrading the National talent. Personally i viewed the pick as being a developmental year for him, but who knows what Walters & crew were thinking.
  9. Walters' will pick an OL with their first pick. That's his practice since he assumed the GM position and it's not going to change now. I hope they will consider a DL on their next pick. In my opinion DL position jhas the shortest amount learnign curve to develop an impact/starter player. Although, I won't mind if they'll package any of there picks to move up and pick Onyemata. I doubt Onyemata is ever a CFL player. NFL bound?
  10. I thought it was Tedford he didn't like?... though he did complain publicly about the contract he was offered... Could be - I was going off the contract dissatisfaction. Beneviedes & Wally did make good use of him, so hopefully he isn't too worn out.
  11. Would it be premature to consider Andrew Harris a lock to sign with the WBB now that Wally is HC & GM?
  12. All 9 of those guys would make us a considerably better team. If we don't go hard in free agency this year, I will be extremely disappointed. They've gone hard in free agency both years under Walters and signed some of the bigger names available. It doesn't mean a damned thing if you can't draft well and can't supplement your free agent additions through your scouting. Free agency is but one part of building a winning team. Scouting is so important & where we've really fallen down. Our CFL draft record is so so under Walters. A hit with Chungh & a miss with Richards & that seems how it's been since 2014. Very similar to Joe Mack. I don't see much of a difference with Walters & I was a huge critic of Mack's drafting .I expected much more from Walters as he was considered a CIS guru when it came to drafting players. Very much a disappointment. I wouldn't want Bagg or Getzlaff here. Older players who will want big contracts again on the downside. Getzlaff can't stay healthy. I like Anthony Allen. If there's 1 FA from the Riders worth signing, it would be Allen. Way too early to declare Walters drafts poor. Goossen will likely be the starting center next year and let Richards get healthy first before saying that's a miss (although I would have preferred Durant there). Waggoner will make more of an impact next year too. I'm going to wait a year or two before passing judgement on Walter's drafting.
  13. A little OT but Chris Matthews just got released by the Seahawks today: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/11/17/seahawks-waiving-super-bowl-breakout-wideout-chris-matthews/ I'm sure he'll try to explore all NFL options first but could be available next spring.
  14. The team folded like a cheap tent in the games Willy got hurt. Very few stepped up throughout the season in the face of adversity. I would say that your assessment of the team being mentally weak was spot on. I think that's more a case of simply not having anyone capable of stepping up. Denmark isn't the kind of receiver who steps up when he has more pressure. He's a great supporting player in a receiving corps, but as a guy who can take it upon himself? Not really. Closest we have is Moore and he has his own issues. The run game was never used properly to be that dominant factor, plus with the OL getting blown up as consistently as they did you could never rely on it anyway. Simply put this team needs much more talent so that there are people who CAN step up in the face of adversity. You go back to the early 2000s if we needed a play you could generally rely on Roberts or Stegall to make that play. Who do we turn to now when we absolutely NEED a play? Kyle Walters needs to get his **** together this offseason. I agree with your assessment, but I found that the defense seemed to collapse after Willy was hurt in games. No one stepped up to make a key stop either. One could argue that they were on the field for inordinate lengths of time, but they just seemed to sag emotionally and give up big plays instead of making them. Maybe if we can keep the O on the field longer the D will reach its potential. Walters does have some work to do, regardless.

  16. Or Duncan Keith who Morrisey is sometimes compared to (style of play).
  17. Well Bombers have looked decent in their wins, not world beaters but OK. In 6 of their 8 loses they have looked like the worst team in the league. Discounting the Willy injury I say they are as good as their record. if he says they are better than their record, that implies more talent than has been displayed, which falls to coaching as one of the culprits.
  18. Though not as exciting as Spenser Strasmore visiting Wpg, Bombers extend Bruce Johnson through 2018: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/bombers-sign-contract-extension-for-defensive-back-bruce-johnson-1.3236971
  19. True. I was being uncharacteristically pessimistic.
  20. Bombers will probably have the top 2 picks in the 2nd round.
  21. I would take this kind of post from you more seriously if you made the same excuses for Marve. You didn't. You chose to crap all over him instead.Because Marve played horribly last game. Broom didn't play great but he wasn't to blame for this loss.
  22. Totally agree. Let's see the Rider fans on this site defend any of that. What a bunch of disgusting clowns.
  23. There isn't one thing factual in this post. Not a blizzard but there was snow in nw Calgary and west in higher elevations.
  24. Punt return and turnovers killed us. Marve showed a lot of promise bit he's still got some things to learn. Thought MB called a better game. Wish he would have called screens when Willy was starting.
  25. i would place 70% of the blame on him. 20 on the line. 10 on willy. If you wanna really parse the numbers down lol Surprisingly, I agree with this.
