Most of the blame lies with those who determined the ticket prices. A clear failure there.

Winnipeg will be waiting longer than usual for the next Grey Cup game here. 7 years between the first two, then an 8 year wait followed by this year's 9 year wait. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 12 - 15 years before we see another one.

Grey Cup Halftime Show is Fall Out Boy

a pop-punk band that was popular 10 years ago... that's fine if you're ok with that... I'm not... I don't pretend to be a modern pop music expert... but I honestly haven't heard these guys in the news in years... They just won a MTV Video award for best rock video. Since MTV caters to the 16 - 24 year old crowd I'm pretty sure they are still relevant. -

After 19 seasons of making the playoffs - and every season since the team has returned to Montreal - the Als will not be in the post season -
Do Gary Bettman, Selig, Silver and Goodell rub shoulders with the fans? Is it because the CFL is more of a "working class" kind of league in which many of players do not make more money than the average worker that Orridge should be required to meet n greet with the fans on a regular basis?
-
Orridge extended the league tv contract by 3 years. I'm sure it includes an increase each season. He also signed that sponsorship deal with SHAW for the Grey Cup. I wouldn't at all be surprised if that is a substantial source of income for the league and its teams - maybe as much as $10 million per season.

Another bad show I had to watch because I was there. Now, I was drunk........so that's goodMeh, to each their own. Pop star not to everyone's taste, especially guys but it was the only Grey Cup here that got it right. Brought in a hot international act at the time which is what they should always try to do for the halftime show. Not that it makes a difference, but Nelly Furtado is Canadian, she's from Victoria BC. Yes, I realize that. I am just pointing out that she was a very popular international act at the time. -

Back in 2000 I believe the Guess Who's instruments were pre-recorded while Burt did sing live. Something about the cold affecting guitars? -
It was 3 years...well actually 2.5 years as they had the ground-breaking in May of 2010 but proceeded to do nothing but push dirt around for 6 or so months as Asper's retail dream failed to come to fruition. I guess they didn't want to delay any longer as 2.5 years should have been more than adequate time to build. I seem to remember some stories floating around that once it was confirmed the stadium would not open in 2012, the BBB cut back the hours construction crews worked on the stadium to ensure no overtime was used to keep costs from exceeding the budget. I can't verify that but I can't help but be a little suspicious as they were still scrambling to put the finishing touches on the stadium prior to the first game of the season. Meanwhile in Minneapolis, they are on schedule to finish a 1.8 million square foot, 65,000 seat stadium in 2.5 years. They also had to account for the destruction of the old stadium within that same time frame.
-
Not when they waste money that would have not been needed in the first place if BBB, Wan, SO and whoever else had done things properly to begin with. Potentially $50 million in wasted taxpayers dollars due to shoddy workmanship. Sellinger loves guys like you. What's a few million between friends huh?

Asper couldn't find enough tenants for his Elms project at Polo Park. Not surprising given the state of the economy back in 2009 and 2010 coming off the recession and also the demographics in Winnipeg aren't there to support a large-scale luxury retail project like the Elms. I don't think he even secured an anchor tenant for the development. I remember after the official ceremony in May 2010 all they did on the U of M site for half of year was push dirt around until December or January when the province decided to fund the entire project.

Seems to cast doubt on the narrative from some here that Walters is considerably better than Mack at drafting. Guess we need to give it another year to see how Goosen and Waggoner develop and if there are any persons from the 2014 and 2015 who will actually make a contribution in 2016. -

The four and five days between games will be a common occurrence for all CFL teams for as long as we have an uneven number of teams. Until a team folds or there is expansion (probably a minimum of 8-10 years) it will continue. -
Lawless: O'Shea & Walters to return in 2016
blueandgoldguy replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
LOL! Try selling that to the fanbase. That would be beyond stupid & proof the Bombers are absolutely rudderless at the top. It's pretty standard though. When Noel was given his one-year extension after his 2nd season, I remember Hustler and Lawless talking about it. They stated the reason for the one-year extension is that it allows the coach some extra degree of control over his players. If the coach is in his final year and thus seen as a lame duck, the players are more likely to tune him out, show disregard for any of his systems or rules as he is likely to be gone by the end of the year. The one year extensions doesn't require much of an additional financial commitment from the organization but it also let's the players know that the coach will be there for the medium term at least. They sited a few examples of these one-year extensions. I would think the same rules apply to football. Players are less likely to tune out a coach if they feel there is an increased likelihood that the coach will be around for an extended period beyond the lame-duck final year. I will be disappointed though if O'shea gets anything beyond a one-year prove-it-or-your-gone extension. -

I think O'Shea will get a one year contract extension so as to not appear a lame-duck coach. Same as Claude Noel after his second season with the Jets. -

And that is what will happen. If we have posters here saying we'd win with Willy then I say we go 2-6 to start the season in 2016 & the circus will start. Hope it doesn't happen but we'll see in 8 months I guess. -
3 huge turnovers and they were the reason we were even in the game.If you want a reason for the 38 minutes of Ottawa TOP, look no further than the 6 carries for 20 yards by Cam Marshall or the 6 sacks on Matt Nichols. The defense is as much to blame as the offense. Fatigue does not factor in when the defense gives up over 300 yards passing and 19 first downs in the first half. Huge chunks of real estate given up throughout the entire first two quarters including an embarrassing 75 yard td drive at the end of the half. Defense has lots of holes. Maybe, but a bunch of that came when they essentially had to play an entire quarter with maybe a break or two of a play from our O. Hard to ask our D to keep up a high level of play when they can't get off the field for more than a minute. I find it hard to get behind this D with some of the holes on it. I really dislike some of the players - Hurl, Peach, Shell, Bucknor, Anderson when he plays. They just don't seem to have much of a positive effect.
-
The Bomber defense is not as great as some people make it out to be. With that said the O has one had one game this season in which it has scored 30 points. Yep, one game.
-
Joe Zaleski did. Actually he had a worse record than O'Shea's first two years. Bomber organization stuck with him for a third year and were rewarded with 3-12-1 season.
-
Special teams was good for the most part. That's all I got.

Worst that could happen is if the team gets off to a terrible start next year and fires O'Shea mid-season. Bombers will end up being in a similar situation to 2004 and 2012 in which the best candidates already have jobs and they hire a 2016 version of Burke or Jim Daley..
