Sorry it appears winning is not in the cards. Too much to ask with this group
-
It's apparent the defense is not that good. Too many obvious holes on the line and in the secondary. Can't use fatigue as a factor when Burris passes for 300 yards in the first half.
-
Both the defense and offense were quite awful this game - over 500 yards against and only 300 yards for. Silly mental mistakes by the defense in some key situations. Offense doesn't score any points in the final 1.5 quarters. Some posters here criticize the negative reactions of certain posters. Fair enough. But I chuckle at the reactionary posts to the likes of Nicholls. Nichols has a good game or two and some are proclaiming him to be nearly as good as Willy and worthy of a $200,000 contract...rather than waiting to see how he performs over the course of the rest of the season. I think it's safe to say, he will have few if any other options as a backup anywhere in the league next year. Also safe to say his base salary will be in the range of $125,000.

Fed Up Fan: $5 dollars to get rid of a ticket?
blueandgoldguy replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Probably the best post you've ever had. Well written! Thank you. That Bleacher Report description of a being a fan is absolutely out of touch. No.. No its not. Its just not your version of being a fan. And thats fine. Neither one is wrong, right? Thats what we keep hearing ad nasueum here. Not what you said earlier. YOur response was "exactly" to the description from Bleacher Report as to what a true fan is thus implying their description as apt thereby not leaving the definition of a true fan open to alternative viewpoints. -
Why do people still insist firing Berry was a mistake. He had lost the room. This was well known at the time. When that happens the only option is to fire the coach. Teams don't need an out-of-control coach raging on the sidelines losing all common sense at key points in the game ie) see Berry pulling out challenge flag to challenge a challenge lol. There is a reason he is no longer working in the league folks and was never hired to be a head coach again.

Fed Up Fan: $5 dollars to get rid of a ticket?

I think there is a feeling that the Bombers have not spent adequate resources to bring the best talent in especially on the management and coaching side. Rookie CEO, rookie coach and rookie Gm all of which are cheaper than proven veterans. Maybe fan discontent such as this will spur the club to put more resources into these areas (which the new stadium was supposed to provide by the way) instead of cheaping out. -

I find they people here criticizing the fan tend not to live here and probably don't spend one red cent on the Bombers. Same probably applied to a few others. Meanwhile this guy has already renewed for next season and probably spends over a grand or two each year. The $5 is to cover gas to pick up the tickets I would imagine. The fact no one has taken the guy up on his offer is worrisome. MIght as well be the canary in the coal mine. -

He will go on Hustler and Lawless and say things aren't progressing as quickly as they would like but they are moving in the right direction. Assuming Walters doesn't go to Guelph I would guess they will sell improvement with the new OC...with that comes new schemes and gasp actual offense. I imagine they will make some big free agency signing or two...Harris? I'm trying to think of any other big names out there in the FA market for next season. That 's all I got. Oh wait. Royal Blues are back for the entire year in 2016 aren't they? -
Remember the Western Hour from the 80s? How about getting the host of that show for the halftime.
-
I think the tickets are over priced. They needed the team to be playing well to be selling the tickets at those prices. I suspected this nearly a year ago when ticket prices were announced. Miller and the organizing committee learned nothing from Vancouver last year.
-
I don't think they are getting anything from the team. Someone had an article last week (I can't remember who at this point) & they asked Miller about it. All Miller said was ticket sales were heading in the right direction. Yeah, I remember hearing that now that you mention it. If they are down to a few thousand, they should have no problem selling it out.

I took a look and the number of available seats has started to rise. Appears to be 2500 available. Granted this happens at every Grey Cup in the weeks leading up to the game - lots of pairs, or parcels of 3 or 4 seats will pop up, sometimes in prime locations. Interesting that I haven't heard a word from the media regarding seat sales in quite some time. Being asked to keep things hush-hush?

Bombers vs RedBlacks (and Jovon's chirp)
blueandgoldguy replied to Westy Sucks's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So you think you've now proven a point based on 1-2 games? lol. Nichols hadn't thrown an interception in his previous 4 games, prior to last night. Sure he had a bad game last night. Willy has never had a bad game?In his post game interview, Nichols said they prepared the entire week for Ottawa to play man defense, because that's what Ottawa has done all year. Instead Ottawa came out playing zone. It took Marcel an entire first half to adjust to that. Wow. I still think Nichols is starter material in this league with a competent OC. Marcel handcuffs the entire team. Willy has lots of warts too; he isn't some proven, elite stud QB just yet. Give it up already. Nicholls is a backup who is fine filling in once in awhile. Ask Eskimo fans what they think of him after a reasonably large sample size. He is not good driving the field for TDs, has never been strong on long throws, and has been one of poorer QBs in the league with regards to turnovers. Edmonton had a winning record with Nicholls at the helm because of their defense not because of his play. INTs can be suppressed when a large number of passing plays are short 5 yard curls - pretty low risk. -
We don't have any receivers worth dressing! Kyle Walters needs to get his **** together. If Kyle Walters does take that job at university next year should the Bombers' new GM be forced to stick with O'shea or should he be allowed to pick his own candidate? This potentially limits the number of candidates the Bombers might attract in the off season.

Willy is already better than Glenn ever was and that's including 2007. lol, no Willy still has to show a little bit more to be as good as a prime Glenn from 2005 - 2012.
-
Because 50% of our starting roster is below average. You have to address the talent, or lack thereof. Geez, put the entire team on waivers and see who gets picked up. Westerman and ? I thought we are only a few pieces away from being a good team. That would imply most of the team is average to above average.

Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
blueandgoldguy replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Nicholls struggled in Edmonton both this season and last. Moves the ball reasonably well between the 25 or 30 yard lines, but is not all that capable of leading teams on TD drives, at least, not compared to other QBs in the league. He is also prone to more turnovers and fumbles than most QBs. You can find this info. by talking to Esk fans. He's a backup. Nothing wrong with bringing him back next year provided the price is right. $125,000 - $150,000 base salary? -
Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
blueandgoldguy replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Only watched part of the game as I spent had some work to do and was flipping between the Bomber game, Jays game and Jets game. Only 1 for 3 today. With that said, It sure looks like the offense laid another stinker. Generated nothing in the first half AGAIN. Only 9 points in the first 57 minutes of the game and less than 200 net yards in that same span. Lots of garbage time stats to boost the offense's numbers. What little I saw of Nicholls did not impress me. A few of those short throws were inaccurate (again only what I saw) and I heard the commentator saying Nicholls really struggled with his long throws. Guess it's safe to say he is a backup QB folks. I don't think we have to worry about spending $200,000 base salary to keep him hear like one of the posters laughably suggested after his first or second game. OC still has to assume responsibility for this tire fire of an offense in the end and this game appears to be another mark against Marcel. -
Keep him this season and sign him to a 1-year or 2-year contract in the off-season. I doubt there will be many teams bidding on him so the price will be reasonable.
-
Looks like there is less than 1500 seats left with just under 7 weeks to go to the Grey Cup. I have only see a few patches of blue - usually two or three seats - reappear as available over the past few weeks. Those are scattered throughout the stadium - some in the upper deck and some in the lower deck.

Willy Returns: Throwing At Practice (9/16/15)
blueandgoldguy replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I wonder if Willy will be back starting for the Bombers this week..or next week? -
Schizophrenic fanbase? Some posters here need to get out of the Bomber bubble and visit a few other fan sites. Every other CFL fanbase, at least their forums, have members who are as reactionary as any forum members on the Bomber site.
-
Pleasantly surprised by that comeback in the second half. Props to the defense and special teams. Sergio was clutch and good turn out to be one of the CFL's feel good stories. Offense as usual sucked the life out of the team. Again less than 300 yards total offense. Marcel can't be brought back under any circumstances next year. Somewhat disappointed in Nicholls play although the playcalling wasn't the greatest. He missed a few makeable throws. Guess that's why in an ideal situation he is a backup QB. Noeller, I only consider the season saved if the Bombers make the playoffs. That will probably require 2 more victories.

Week 16 CFL - Mon. - Tor.@ Mont. (Sask. 15 - Hamilton 30)
blueandgoldguy replied to Mr Dee's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The league is looking at expanding instant replay. Super, now we can enjoy 3.5 hour games with inconsistent and puzzling calls even with the benefit of instant replay. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl-considering-greater-use-of-video-replay-1.373835 The league is also looking at more rule changes including this humdinger sent in by a fan A more radical concept the league is looking at is changing the parameters of play inside the red zone. The concept would force teams to go for a first down or more on third down inside the 20-yard line. For example, Team A is faced with a third down and two yards to go on the opposition’s 17-yard line. Under the proposed change, the option to kick on third down would be removed. Team A would have to attempt to get a first down or more. If a first down was not made, the team would then be given a chance to kick from a “difficult distance,” such as the 40-yard line. The proposal was submitted by a fan and the league is giving it a look, although it doesn’t appear to have much support at this stage. That sounds more gimmicky than anything from the arena league or the XFL.
