  1. Even with all the turnovers - it's hard not to look at the late game collapses by the D, especially to top tier teams like Calgary and BC. Prevent D and/or soft coverage meant that we also saw opposing offences drive the entire field from goal line to goal line way too many times. Would love to see Steinauer or Thorpe here.
  2. Yup we're a D coord, MLB and deep threat away from true greatness. Maybe Gurley steps it up big with a training camp in the system. Matt Nichols almost 400 yards, 2 td's, no turnovers and still some are saying he's a bum... the issue was definitely late game D today. Prevent scheme plus Wild left looking for his cleats every other run play was not fun to watch at all!
  3. I want to see quality play from all three phases of our team. Bombers need to remind the "experts" they're a team to be reckoned with! This season I've been extremely lucky to watch 17 of 18 Bombers' games with my parents (both over 70 years old)... would love to celebrate a playoff win today and keep the dream of a championship alive for another week!
  4. Probably Hurl is gone too
  5. Sounds like someone gets to go have supper with Jamal Westerman - seems like a fair deal to me!
  6. Horrible call and an even worse non-challenge
  7. Egads the highs and lows in this game. I'm just stunned. This game was a microcosm of our season thus far. Amazing second half that gave us a chance, but if the Bombers play anything resembling decent or even average football in the first half, then we win. Time to go on another win streak...
  8. I was at McMahon in '94 as the Bombers rolled into town after Dunigan blew away the Esks on 713 yards passing. Flutie's Stamps struck first but then the Bombers came right back, trading TD's on a bomb from Dunigan to Alfred Action Jackson. That's as good as it got as the Blue got trucked 58-19. That was a crappy drive back to Edmonton...
  9. That's true - especially as a game progresses that advantage could be magnified unless they shut Messam down hard (and early)
  10. Bass is more than physical enough to stop Messam - anyone recall how he put the ol' pile driver on him in their last loss to Calgary? The question is will he stay in position to make stops consistently or will he get wiped out by the Stamps run scheme and allow big run gains.
  11. It must be killing him to write anything positive about the Bombers. As long as they are winning all he has left is pot shots about the concrete at IGF. Honestly he has the worst writing style. He's made a career out of making insults and belittling pass for criticism and disappointment. Friesen = paid professional troll.
  12. As per the Winnipeg Sun "I sure hope he's a receiver" - Matt Nichols on seeing the 6'6" Outlaw walk through the door
  13. If you're talking about the first interception, replay clearly showed the nose of the ball hitting the ground before the db can secure it. The freeze frame on the last bit of replay showed it best.
  14. The last replay of Sheppard's knee buckling made me ill - hope he's ok
  15. Not missing Craig Dickenson at all as our ST coordinator!
  16. Yeah Nichols only threw for 322 yards and his receivers dropped two TD catches... What a bum - cut him! /sarcasm
  17. How did we lose the game in the trenches?! More sacks for than against and forced turnovers on downs... Big play mistakes happened but they kept it together enough to pull out the W. The past 11 years things would snowball into a blowout. How about we take a week of practice and see how they correct things
  18. You could see it on the db's faces on some of the camera close ups. They were pissed and were not at all happy with themselves. As much as I cursed at Bruce Johnson - here's hoping he looks in the mirror and plays lights out in the Banjo Bowl. Unbelievably euphoric over the LDC win! All the drama, all the excitement. Heart just starting to settle and already I can't wait for next Saturday!
  19. OMG hope he's going to be ok
  20. Haha! Oops - the last thread I was reading was about Mulumba... 2013 draft year got stuck in my head
  21. I do remember the team saying he was going back to school and developing his game at a more appropriate level. Nice that Tennant has been in the league a few years so he's not exactly a raw rookie
  22. Ed Tait reported JT pulling up lame at practice with a foot injury this past Thursday. Not related to last week against the Als.
  23. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. After years of watching the Bombers get ripped off by bad calls, non-calls, & phantom calls, it's par for the course. Look at how officials let TO's oline resort to holding Westerman by the facemask in the last game. Bowman is also a vet and seems like an otherwise good character guy. When he lost his cool he also forgot that it's the retaliation that gets called way more often than not.
  24. As things stand, sure I'd say it's real. Ball hawking secondary, outstanding special teams and an at least functional, effective offence mean we're in every game at worst. The cool thing about the last three games is that they haven't been three perfect 60 minute games - but when the three phases complement each other like they have, our chances of coming out on top are better than they have been for ages. The miracle game winning drives of 2014 were needed in spite of our mad scientist defence and special teams gaffs. Pretty hard to rely on those for a whole season. In 2016 our D and ST have become the pillars and our O is finally at a stage to take advantage. The team hasn't stopped working to get better and they're hungry. Love being interested in how this season goes compared to battling the apathy of last year.
  25. Yeah sloppy game by the stamps compared to how they usually are. Agree that after that kind of run Messam really needs to just clamp that other arm over the ball and hold on.
