  1. Putin’s Henchmen Threaten ‘Tens of Thousands’ of Dead U.S. Troops Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, delivered a sermon marking Orthodox Epiphany in Moscow this week. He spoke to those who wish “to defeat Russia,” using the occasion to deliver a threat to the West: “We pray that the Lord admonish those madmen and help them to understand that any desire to destroy Russia will mean the end of the world.” Russia’s top propagandists, from former President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to state TV host Vladimir Solovyov, have been spreading the same not-so subtle nuclear threat far and wide—and yet, Putin’s mouthpieces are now worried that the “boy who cried wolf” routine is no longer being taken seriously by their target audience in the West. The dilemma manifested during a live broadcast of The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov. After the lineup of talking heads took turns reiterating that Russia’s defeat would mean the end of the world, their agitprop was suddenly deflated by Yevgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute of the Middle East. “First of all, our main enemy is certainly the United States. What does the U.S. react to? They react to two things: the threat of physical annihilation and the liquidation of a certain number of military personnel. What we know based on wars in Vietnam and Korea is that several tens of thousands of annihilated American servicemen will cause the public opinion in the U.S. to be severely strained. I will repeat: not several thousand, like in Afghanistan or Iraq, but a certain number of tens of thousands. Who will liquidate them, where they will be liquidated and in what way is completely irrelevant, but this is one of the objectives if we want to influence the American leadership. We have absolutely nothing to lose.”
  2. But you can't hit what you cannot see. Hence, the logic in conceal and contain.
  3. That's what she said she wanted but obviously you have not mastered the art of mind-reading.
  4. A kitchen appliance for Christmas gift and you are still alive to tell the tale?
  5. Pizza wasted? OMG its further evidence of the decline of civilization as we know it.
  6. Disagree. Fox does not pretend to know more than anyone- they just echo and amplify anything their Neanderthal viewers might believe.
  7. 2 States Introduce Radical Bills To Prosecute Women For Abortions Republicans in Arkansas and Oklahoma introduced bills this week that would allow authorities to criminally prosecute pregnant people for seeking abortion care. The legislation offers a terrifying preview of what’s to come in a country that no longer has federal abortion protections. Oklahoma Senate Bill 287 and Arkansas House Bill 1174 were proposed with the specific intent to criminalize anyone who gets an abortion. The Oklahoma legislation aims to amend the state’s near-total abortion ban to eliminate language that protects pregnant people from prosecution. The Arkansas legislation would let the state’s homicide laws apply to aborted fetuses and give them due process protections, while also repealing protections for people who “solicit, advise, encourage, or coerce a pregnant woman” to get an abortion. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/states-introduce-radical-bills-to-prosecute-pregnant-people-for-abortions_n_63cad58be4b0c2b49ad52898

  9. This tactic is predicated on the belief that the Russian army has more disposable bodies than the Ukrainian army has bullets. It worked for the Russians in WW2 but has not taken into account the advances in weaponry. The tactic reminds me of "skirmish lies" which were popular in Europe before the advent of automatic weapons where opposing forces would line up in two parallel lines several hundred yards apart dressed in bright uniforms and march slowly towards each other while shooting or stand in lines and fire at each other. One of the reasons the Brits lost the American Revolutionary War was their generals' insistence on marching thus towards the American rebels while the rebels hid behind anything they could find and fired away. Some American commanders tried the British tactics and got a lot of their soldiers killed until they smartened up.
  10. An absolutely insane Russian suicide attack. This time not around Bakhmut, but somewhere in the Zaporizhzhia region in the south. Russian troops, without any armor support, running in the open field. For Ukrainian snipers and infantrymen, they are just a training target.
  11. Not all "faith" dogma is helpful or even benign. Sometimes intolerance and despotism is disguised as articles of faith- recent case in point is the recent Flyer captain's refusal to wear an LGBT symbol during the morning skate because his Russian Orthodox church calls being gay a mortal sin with a death penalty. The Southern Baptist churches in the US supported white supremacy and religious intolerance for decades and many still do. In South Africa, the Dutch Reformed Church (Calvinist) openly supported de facto slavery and white supremacy. And there is no need to bring up Wahabist Islam.
  12. Our air fryer is great for reheating pizza- we preheat the oven and toss the slices in, and they come out crisp and tasting like fresh.
  13. Others have better pizza and better wings. BP does have a good atmosphere, though.
  14. Weighing his salary compared to his value, he may not be the answer but someone like him is probably the Bombers' biggest need for 2023.
  15. The Riders could get permission from the Bombers to talk to Couture to see if he is willing to sign an extension with them. Walters should be willing to talk to any CFL team under those conditions.
  16. Yes, apparently it does.
  17. Alec Baldwin To Be Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter In Fatal 'Rust' Shooting Actor Alec Baldwin will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the 2021 fatal shooting that took place on the set of the movie “Rust,” the Santa Fe district attorney announced on Thursday. The film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was in charge of the guns on the New Mexico set, will be also charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. The film’s assistant director, David Halls, has agreed to plead guilty to a charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. His plea agreement includes a suspended sentence and six months of probation. Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb announced the charges, which they said are expected to be filed by the end of the month, in a written statement after spending more than two months considering a final investigative report by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
  18. George Santos was reportedly a Brazilian drag queen named 'Kitara Ravache' Journalist Marisa Kabas, an opinion columnist for MSNBC, has the scoop: “Eula Rochard, a Brazilian drag queen who was friends with George Santos when he lived near Rio,” she writes, referring to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, “said everyone knew him as Anthony (*never* George), or by his drag name, Kitara, and confirms this photo is from a 2008 drag show at Icaraí Beach.”
  19. The anti-vaxxers were tolerated reasonably well until they became militant and verbally and physically attacking those who chose to be vaccinated. Many of these same covidiots made it very clear that they didn't give a damn about the welfare of the immuno-compromised or anyone else for that matter. These attacks on science-based measures in the name of "God" and/or "liberty" caused the hostility, not vice-versa.
  20. Agreed, and once that universal healthcare is gone into American corporate pockets, it will never come back, thanks to NAFTA.
  21. New Mexico law enforcement has confirmed that the man behind the shooting of homes of Democratic officials was motivated by Trump’s election lies. The Washington Post reported: In an interview, Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said he has no doubt that Peña was motivated by Trump’s false claims of election fraud following the former president’s 2020 defeat. Medina said Peña regularly expressed extreme views on social media and boasted of attending Trump’s Stop the Steal rally in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021. “The individual that we’re charging believed in that conspiracy,” Medina said. “He did believe that his election was unfair and he did escalate and resort to violence as a means to find justice.”
  22. George Santos accused of swindling disabled veteran and letting his dog die: report A disabled veteran on Tuesday accused Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., of taking $3,000 from his dying dog's GoFundMe fundraising campaign. Navy veteran Richard Osthoff was living in a tent in an abandoned chicken coop in New Jersey when his service dog Sapphire developed a stomach tumor that would cost $3,000 to remove, he told Patch. "I know a guy who runs a pet charity who can help you," Osthoff recalled a veterinary technician telling him. The tech connected him to Anthony Devolder, one of the aliases Santos used for years, and told him he ran a charity called Friends of Pets United. There is no evidence that the charity ever existed, though Santos claimed that he saved thousands of animals through the group. He has also been caught fabricating much of his resume, educational history and other claims made during his campaign. Osthoff and another veteran, retired police Sgt. Michael Boll, who tried to intervene to help Osthoff in 2016, told Patch that Santos closed the GoFundMe he set up for Sapphire after it raised $3,000. Then he disappeared. "He stopped answering my texts and calls," Osthoff told the outlet. Sapphire died Jan. 15, 2017, and Osthoff said he had to panhandle to raise money for her euthanasia and cremation. "It was one of the most degrading things I ever had to do," he recalled. https://www.salon.com/2023/01/18/george-santos-accused-of-swindling-disabled-veteran-and-letting-his-dog-die-report/
