  1. Many Cons think that irony is the opposite of wrinkly.
  2. 74% Of Jewish Voters Supported Democrats In The Midterm And 76% Blame Trump For Rising Anti-Semitism – Jewish voters continue to vote overwhelmingly Democratic, back Joe Biden and support the Democratic Party amid the national polarization dividing the country. Biden has a 70 percent job approval rating among Jewish voters, far exceeding his 42 percent approval among the general population (Real Clear Politics average). Jews also have positive views of the Democratic Party (66 percent favorable/32 percent unfavorable) and voted for Democrats by a 74 to 25 percent margin. -The state of democracy and abortion dominate the issue environment, underscoring Jewish priorities amid America’s cultural battles. More than half of Jewish voters (55 percent) cite the state of democracy as one of the two most important issues impacting their vote, followed by abortion (40 percent). There is a large drop-off to the next tier of issues, including inflation and the economy (27 percent), climate change (19 percent), and crime (16 percent). – Antisemitism weighs heavily on the minds of American Jews and they hold Trump and his Republican allies responsible. An astonishing 97 percent of Jews say they are concerned about antisemitism in the United States, including 85 percent stating they are very concerned. o When asked how responsible Trump and his allies in the Republican Party are for a rise in antisemitism, 76 percent say they are responsible (including 67 percent very responsible). This is most pronounced among older Jews (79 percent among voters 50 years and older). Similarly, 76 percent say Trump and his allies in the Republican Party are responsible for a rise in white supremacy. Israel was also a low-priority issue for American Jewish voters, and the poll revealed that Trump has a 79% unfavorable rating with American Jews. Republicans will probably be surprised to learn that proclaiming to love Israel while anti-Semites are running their party will not fool Jewish voters. https://www.politicususa.com/2022/11/10/jewish-voters-poll.html
  3. No good deed goes unpunished. I wonder if police would be so trigger happy if all wrongful death settlements came out of their pension funds.
  4. Ford did not want to alienate his base yet wanted to be seen doing something.
  5. And own guns. Lots of guns. Fanaticism, rage and firearms. Party time.
  6. FYI: At least some of the crew were still alive on the way down but NASA suppressed the radio signals and wiped the recordings.
  7. Alex Jones ordered to pay another $473 million in damages to Sandy Hook families A judge on Thursday ordered far right-wing extremist, conspiracy theorist, falsehoods promoter for profit, and Infowars founder Alex Jones to pay an additional $473 million for his lies in a case involving the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The new $473 million order comes on top of the nearly $1 billion in damages he was ordered to pay last month.

  9. Steaming is the future and will bring glitches and frustrations. We will probably have to pay for each TV program or game we choose to watch which will likely be streamed directly from the content provider, taking the networks right out of the picture. Like it or not, this is the future.
  10. But the US military has 750,000,000,000 to play with. But America cannot afford a good public education system, clean drinking water for all or universal healthcare. And veterans' services are inadequate to the extent where more US servicemen have been lost to suicide since the Iraqi war than died in the war. The same is true for those who served in Viet Nam. Helluva war-glorifying system.
  11. American military reports that, in their estimate, Russia has lost close to 100,000 troops in their attack on Ukraine and more than half their armoured vehicles and artillery. Winter is coming and all the winter gear for the ground forces that were ordered and paid for by the Russian government are nowhere to be found. This on top of no or outdated (WW2) weapons, scarcity of both food and water at the front lines and behind every front line, there are secondary emplacements whose job it is to shoot any retreating troops. Over the past month, the survival time for new troops has shrunk from 9 days to 3 days. Many Russian troops surrender with their armoured vehicles as soon as they get to the front lines, and are surprised by the humane treatment they receive. They also report that many have not eaten in days, and their officers fled as soon as the firefights or bombardments started.
  12. I prefer the French system wherein potential candidates must first gather a certain amount of signatures from the riding to register as candidates and then spend a very limited amount of money, but all media must give equal exposure to all qualified candidates for free. The runners-up get their expenses reimbursed if they get a certain percentage of the winners' votes. Winning candidates have their jobs ensured if/when they return to their previous jobs, and employers are reimbursed to train a backfill employee, and if the winning candidate's job is made obsolete or substantially changed, when s/he returns, s/he will be trained so as to either fit the old job or qualified for a new one. Apparently the candidates spent some 9 billion dollars during the recent campaign.
  13. The GOP and other racists have done well with a divide and conquer approach. This will continue as long as Blacks, Semites, Asians, LGBT, socialists and women each see themselves as not having common cause with others, If these ever coordinate their support for progressive candidates,, the GOP will either become powerless or have to resort to open civil war.
  14. I suggest that many Americans hold at least as much hatred for blacks as they do for Semites.
  15. This is why Ford moved Heaven and Earth to avoid testifying under oath. He sounded as incompetent as the once-premier of Ontario who was a golf pro but willing to recite anything he was told to utter.
  16. If a black man with a name strongly associated with Islam can become president of the US, who knows what else is possible?
  17. A CNN analyst this morning placed the loss squarely on Trump and his followers. He felt that many of the moderate (?) Republicans who could no longer stomach the antics of this lot of idiots, racists and neo-Nazis simply stayed home and did not vote. This offset the voter suppression and gerrymandering of the GOP.
  18. And DeSantis and his crew oversaw the gerrymandering of key electoral districts in Florida as well as voter suppression. American politics continue to deteriorate.
  19. The brilliance of Republicans' minds.
  20. Ohio man fatally shoots neighbor ‘because he thought he was a Democrat’ A southwest Ohio man shot and killed his neighbor because he believed he was a Democrat, according to the victim's family. Austin Gene Gibbs was taken into custody by Butler County sheriff's deputies just before noon Monday after the shooting was reported in Okeana, and investigators found Anthony Lee King dead from multiple gunshot wounds, reported the Journal-News. “My neighbor just shot my dad,” the victim's son told dispatchers. "[He] has come over multiple times making statements. He’s insane.” The caller's mother sobbed in the background and told dispatchers the 43-year-old King had been cutting grass and doing yardwork when she inside to let their dog out, and that's when she heard gunshots. -MSN news
  21. Political violence "must always be an option," says far-right Catholic outlet On Tuesday morning, the far-right Catholic media outlet Church Militant published a video editorial suggesting that violence may be necessary, and justified, if the country's divisions can't be addressed through political means. Describing Election Day as a "day of reckoning for the communists who have seized so much control of the country and wreaked so much havoc on America," Church Militant founder Michael Voris warned that, in the "all-out war going on between the forces of darkness who have complete control of one political party and partial control over the other," conservatives might have "no choice but to fight back violently if needs be." That shouldn't be the first resort, Voris went on to say, but it "must always be an option." "Now we are in a pitched battle in the political arena — the last remaining line before all-out civil war. If you love peace and you don't want to see violence, then you better get involved on the political front. And let's be clear about this, for all the phony or delusional pacifists out there: violence in and of itself is not immoral. It depends on the circumstances and sometimes even, it's necessary: self defense, the subduing of an aggressor threatening the life of your family, the Son of God in the temple violently whipping the money changers." The idea that violence must always, at all times, always be avoided is not Catholic. Remember the Crusades? Sometimes violence must be unleashed to protect the innocent. But lethal violence — because of its drastic, you-can-never-come-back-from-it consequences — must never be the first resort. In fact it must always be the last resort, and then not be allowed to turn into an orgy of dominance over the foe. Nonetheless, violence does — must always be an option. Welcome to a fallen world. Church Militant has castigated the Catholic hierarchy as an "international crime syndicate" or the "lavender mafia," and billed itself as the home of the "red-pilled laity." For years, Church Militant has served as a bombastic firehose of criticism directed at the Catholic church hierarchy and its fellow conservative Catholics, whom the outlet often castigates as milquetoast wimps too cowardly to fight a corrupt church leadership it has described as an "international crime syndicate" or a "lavender mafia." Amid the bitter 2020 election campaign, Church Militant began to describe itself as the home of "the red-pilled laity" and warned that Catholics who failed to vote for Donald Trump because he was too vulgar couldn't complain when they were "herded onto the trains headed for the camps" or "gun[ned] down in the streets." https://www.salon.com/2022/11/08/political-violence-must-always-be-an-option-says-far-right-catholic-outlet/
  22. Unless you have lotsa money and/or friends in power.
  23. In Ontario, Ford was seen as a viable alternative to his predecessor, who managed to piss off voters en masse. The voters gambled that the PCs had learned their lessons from being out of power for so long, but they have reverted to who they are at heart. It is far easier to destroy than create.
