  1. Tom Brady Called Out For 'Blatantly Dirty Play' In Playoff Loss To CowboysThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was mocked for his questionable move. Tom Brady took some hits online for what appeared to be a “dirty move” during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 31-14 playoff defeat to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. The quarterback slid into Cowboys safety Malik Hooker from behind in a tripping maneuver considered a no-no by the NFL. Hooker was returning an apparent fumble and Brady seemed to be doing his best to take him down. The irresponsible tackle attempt may have been a result of frustration because the Buccaneers were already losing 24-0 at that point, USA Today pointed out. The outlet called it a “blatantly dirty play.” The Buccaneers were penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, but that call was on center Ryan Jensen, the Sporting News reported. The fumble ruling was overturned as well. The league has gone after Brady before for similar antics. He was fined $10,000 for dangerously sliding into the Baltimore Ravens’ Ed Reed during the AFC Championship game in 2013. He also drew attention for sliding at Giants safety Xavier McKinney in 2021.
  2. If the higher taxes mean lower suicide rates, less societal violence, better outcomes for critical illnesses, high education rates and increased contentment for Canadians, I'm all for it. The Americans and Canadian right-wingers will be apoplectic, but so be it.
  3. I wonder if the fall in population is due more to the tens of thousands who have died from the pandemic and the long-term effects thereof. When people are endlessly sick, they don't want to make babies.
  4. And may or may not be able to play the game at the level he did before. His injury was pretty severe.
  5. This healthcare crisis is both caused by and benefits the Cons. Having systematically starved the system for decades whenever in power, s crisis can now be reacted to by farming out a lot of of procedures at exorbitant charges. They can now wring their hands and point to the expenses and say that public healthcare was what they have said all along- that its too inefficient and costly. Privatization is obviously (in their august opinion) the only remedy.

Trump has convinced his feeble-minded followers that the government is rightfully and permanently theirs, regardless of the votes and, because of that, any Democrat victory is illegal and reserved to be opposed, violently if necessary. The end justifies the means, and if they are caught they were only following orders.

  8. Don't underestimate team/management politics and bias. Streveler is better than other QBs on the NY Jets team, but still didn't get the reps.
  9. Assuming that the two Jeffs are back and in good shape, all we need is a immovable nose tackle and a mobile outside linebacker.

Hard to predict what his rabid supporters will do for him. They have already demonstrated a willingness to commit treason and murder but with Trump, it seems to be equal motivation between money and sycophancy. When it becomes obvious that he will not be either the GOP presidential candidate or the next president, he will first go onto a maniacal rant, then move onto a scorched earth program. Even his toadies will not be safe.

Trump Turns On Evangelicals As His 2024 President Bid Collapses Conservative evangelicals exposed their values fraud when they supported Trump, and now the ex-president is paying them back with attacks. Trump complains about evangelicals not supporting him enough. Trump said about evangelicals who have not supported him yet, “Well, I don’t care. That’s a sign of disloyalty. There is great disloyalty in politics, and that’s a sign of disloyalty, because nobody as you know, and you would know better than anybody because you do such a great job. Nobody has ever done more for right to life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices on and they all voted and they got something they’ve been fighting for for 64 years. You know, they won. They won Roe. Wade. I was a little disappointed because I thought they could have fought much harder during the ’22 election because they won.” To sum up, Trump thinks evangelicals are disloyal because they haven’t lined up to support him for 2024. Trump clearly thinks evangelicals owe him for the overturn of Roe, but they are also to blame for the historic Republican failure in the 2022 midterm election.
  13. And Pipkin is very easily replaced. He has shown very little.
  14. A few days ago, when Yoshi's re-signing was announced in the Free Press, and he was described as ecstatic to be here. He said that at one time, he was reduced to living on mayonnaise sandwiches with only $18 and change to his name, so this is his best life. From the sound of it, he will be a Winnipeg lifer. Good to hear.

'Vengeance is mine declares the Lord': Marjorie Taylor Greene goes on biblical rant about 'evil' U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) used Martin Luther King Jr. Day to serve up a Christian bible-based Old Testament rant that both reserves “vengeance” for God while calling on House Republicans to take action. “Vengeance is mine declares the Lord,” the far-right self-identified Christian nationalist congresswoman proclaimed from her official government Twitter account. “God will not let evil go unpunished.” She then called on House Republicans, saying they “must do what is right for the American people and no longer serve the Uniparty and the Globalist agenda,” presumably equating the few remaining “moderate” Republicans with the entire Democratic caucus. “America First!” Greene then cried. (From this rant, it appears that MTG is going straight to Hell on the express elevator)

'Yikes': Ex-Trump lawyer startled by Trump fundraising email 'impersonating' DeSantis — but it's fake Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is under fire after a local news anchor from Florida accused the organization of sending out a fundraising email that appeared to be from Governor Ron DeSantis. But the Trump campaign says the email is fake. “It’s a slick fundraising email,” tweeted Spectrum News 13 anchor Greg Angel on Monday, noting that it included the Florida governor’s “campaign logo, photo, and all.” “But - check the fine print,” he continued. “It’s a fundraising email actually for Trump PAC and presidential campaign. Always read the fine print.” “A former popular president using a very popular governor to raise campaign cash? Not the first email like this. More and more it shows Gov. DeSantis’ orbit of power and influence - his gravitational pull in the GOP,” Angel added in a subsequent tweet. The allegations prompted a flood of reactions. "Trump is impersonating DeSantis in this fundraising email? Highly doubtful Team DeSantis signed off on this. Not a good sign for Trump 2024 campaign, sorry," tweeted media strategist Gabriella Hoffman. Many in Trumpworld responded as well. “Over/under on DeSantis campaign sending a cease and desist? Because this is yikes,” said former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis. https://www.alternet.org/this-is-yikes-ex-trump-lawyer-startled-by-trump-fundraising-email-impersonating-desantis-but-it-s-fake-2659263997/
  19. Intel’s new desktop processor reaches 6GHz without overclocking Intel has just introduced a new desktop processor, the Core i9-13900KS, that can reach up to 6GHz without overclocking, making it the fastest desktop processor available. This is made possible by the processor's Thermal Velocity Boost feature, which allows the chip to run faster when it’s cool enough. The i9-13900KS is an upgraded version of the i9-13900K, which Intel released last fall. The main differences between the two processors are that the older chip reached a maximum speed of 5.8GHz and had a lower base power of 125W compared to 150W in the new chip. However, the i9-13900KS has the same number of cores (24), amount of cache (36MB) and number of PCIe lanes (20) as the i9-13900K. In addition, the new processor is compatible with Z790 and Z690 motherboards; however, an updated BIOS is recommended. The Thermal Velocity Boost is a feature in 11th Gen and later Intel Core chips that lets them run faster when they’re cool. It does this by increasing the clock frequency by 100 MHz when the temperature is below a threshold of 70 degrees C. However, you'll need a good cooling solution to get the most out of it.

Trump isn't just stupid. He is powerful, unassailably and utterly ignorant, possessing no self-awareness at all.

Kari Lake Says If She's Not Made Arizona Governor, America Will 'Turn Into A Venezuela' Failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake insisted in an interview Friday that if she is not made governor of Arizona, the U.S. will turn into Venezuela. The Donald Trump-backed Republican raised the specter of a Venezuelan America in an interview with far-right student agitator Charlie Kirk. Lake lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs in November, the election has been certified and Hobbs has taken office. Lake also lost a court case last month challenging the election result and has since appealed. “There’s a boatload of evidence in our favor,” Lake baselessly claimed in the interview. “We just need a judge to wake up and realize what’s on the line here, and if we do not restore honest elections right now, our country will turn into a Venezuela. We have Venezuelan-style elections, and this is how you destroy a country.” Ironically, the ascension to power by someone who isn’t chosen in a free election is typical of authoritarian leadership in Venezuela, not in an American democracy. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/kari-lake-governor-or-venezuela_n_63c22194e4b0b2e15071b4ca
