Anti-vaccine ideology gains ground as lawmakers seek to erode rules for kids’ shots. Bills expanding religious exemptions for childhood vaccine requirements were passed by Kansas state Senate in March Kaiser Health News. Not long ago, Kansas showed strong bipartisan support for vaccines as a tool to support a robust public health system. But bills with language expanding religious exemptions for childhood vaccine requirements were passed by the state Senate in March and now face the House when the legislature reconvenes April 25. They are among the more than 520 vaccine-related bills introduced in statehouses nationwide since Jan. 1, according to data from the National Conference of State Legislatures. Of those bills, 66 specifically relate to childhood vaccine requirements in 25 states. In Missouri, for example, legislators are considering a measure exempting private school students from vaccine requirements. In Louisiana, a bill in the House would prohibit vaccinations on school property and at school-sponsored events. Fewer than 10% of the bills will likely gain any traction, but the volume of attempts to roll back vaccine requirements is alarming, said Rekha Lakshmanan, director of advocacy and public policy at the Immunization Partnership, a vaccine education organization. "Those are all chipping away at one of the end goals for anti-vaccine activists, which is completely doing away with school requirements," said Lakshmanan. "That's what people need to be paying very close attention to." All states require specific childhood vaccinations for illnesses such as polio, measles, and mumps, but exemptions vary. They all allow exemptions for people with medical concerns, 44 states allow religious exemptions, and 15 allow philosophical exemptions, according to 2021 data from the National Conference of State Legislatures. Vaccinations are central to public health efforts at disease control and are foundational to the country's social and economic system, said Brian Castrucci, CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation, a public health advocacy organization. "Politicians are poking holes in our public safety net," Castrucci said of the onslaught of anti-vaccine legislation. "Vaccines, in and of themselves, are not medicine. It's all of us collectively protecting each other."

Absolutably. The only thing I miss for KFC is that gravy. Popeye's chicken can be ordered either mild of spicy and both are great, though my favourite is the spicy.

Roger Stone Claims God Gave Trump Courage To Pardon Him; Not A Chance, Say Critics Longtime political “dirty trickster” and Donald Trump confidant Roger Stone said at a Utah campaign rally that he believes God convinced the former president to pardon him for his multiple federal felonies. Stone was campaigning Friday for Republican House candidate Jason Preston. But he also called Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee a “great American patriot.” (And he called Trump the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.) Stone told the crowd that he asked the Rev. Franklin Graham to talk to Trump about pardoning him. Graham said if Stone confessed and put himself in the “hands of the Lord” Graham would “guarantee” he would be delivered from his persecutors, according to Stone’s account. “I’m convinced to this day that God gave Donald Trump the strength and the courage to pardon me in an election year and free me from this vile political persecution,” said Stone. God also speaks directly to Stone, he insisted, and Stone claimed he very specifically wants Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) out of office. “God came and told me he needs to be removed from the U.S. Senate,” Stone recounted. Stone was sentenced in early 2020 to 40 months in prison for several felonies, including witness tampering, lying to Congress and obstructing the House investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 presidential election. He’s a close associate of the violent Proud Boys and Oath Keepers — even after he claimed he took Graham’s advice. His sometimes Oath Keeper bodyguard Joshua James pleaded guilty last month to seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection. Stone told the campaign crowd the same thing he said before Jan. 6 last year: “This is a fight between good and evil. This is a fight between the godly and the godless.”

Besides the territorial gains, there are a couple of other reasons behind the Russian invasion: the eastern part of Ukraine has lithium deposits and there are natural gas fields of considerable size off the shore of Mariupol, which would threaten Russia's near-hegemony in gas sales to Europe.

In Barvikha, the family home of Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobiev is on fire. Pretty hot in Russia in the last few days! UA claims 2 Russian generals died during yesterdays attack. Would love it to be that new guy Russia sent. Unlikely, but would love it.

Difficult to tell who is behind these killings and sabotage, but the probability is that Ukrainian forces are involved as the dead oligarchs were strongly allied with Putin and the disasters were all "soft targets"- that is unguarded, but still important to Russian military and citizens. It seems to be a war of attrition. As an addendum, the massive Russian offensive in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine has rapidly stalled, putting Russian plans to create an all-weather access to a port by capturing a corridor and taking Mariupol and Odessa in danger of being yet another failure. In the meantime, weapons and supplies from many countries continue to flow into Ukraine. Putin's generals (those that are still alive) gambled on subduing Ukraine before this happened, and have lost.

'Your child’s gender reassignment surgery has been booked': GOP lawmaker caught sending fake texts to voters A Michigan state lawmaker who is running for Congress is reportedly sending out texts that read: “CONFIRMED, your child’s gender reassignment surgery has been booked. If you have any issues with this operation, please view the objectives of Biden’s National Transgender Strategy here,” the texts also state, according to a screenshot, with a link to a Republican fundraising site. The texts are being sent by Republican state Sen. Tom Barrett, who is also running for the newly drawn 7th Congressional District, Michigan Advance reports, breaking the story. Barrett’s fundraising page reads: “STOP BIDEN FROM DOING THIS TO OUR KIDS!” “President Biden is forcing 5-year-olds to learn about gender reassignment surgeries, gender identities, and other radical ideas. Every American needs to step up TODAY and stop this sick and twisted ideology from poisoning our children. If we fail, our children are doomed.” Messages urging recurring donations also appear on Barrett’s fundraising page . None of these messages are true. It is unknown if they violate any state or federal laws. https://www.alternet.org/2022/04/michigan-republican-gender-reassignment-surgery/ (A bumper crop of stupidity in US politics this week)

MAGA's ‘King of Toxic Masculinity’ faces police raid in Romania in human trafficking investigation In one of his YouTube videos, American expatriate Andrew Tate — a professional kickboxer and far-right Donald Trump supporter known as “the King of Toxic Masculinity” — stated that “40%” of the reason he moved to Romania was because Romanian law enforcement are less likely to pursue sexual assault allegations. But on April 10, according to Daily Beast reporter Will Sommer, Tate’s home was raided by Romanian police as part of a human trafficking investigation. “Video from the raid shows police officers armed with rifles milling among the Tates’ sports cars, with a neon ‘TATE’ logo on a wall in the background,” Sommer explains. “Another video showed Tate and his brother, (Tristan Tate), being shoved into vans by police officers before being driven away from their homes.” The Romanian publication Gândul, according to Sommer, “reported that the raid was sparked over reports that an American woman was being held captive at the Tate house. Police found both the American and a Romanian woman in the building during the raid, according to the report.” Andrew Tate was dubbed “the King of Toxic Masculinity” by one of his admirers. The term “toxic masculinity” has a very negative connotation among feminists, but to Tate’s admirers, it’s a badge of honor — and in the video discussing his decision to move to Romania, Tate angrily railed against the #MeToo movement. Romania, as the MAGA kickboxer saw it, wasn’t as #MeToo-friendly as the United States, the U.K. or Germany https://www.alternet.org/2022/04/maga-king-of-toxic-masculinity/ (But the MAGGATS will scream entrapment and foam at the mouth.) California MAGA candidate claims god will commit voter fraud on her behalf to help her win On Thursday, Rachel Hamm, a Republican candidate for secretary of state in California, claimed in an interview that God will commit voter fraud on her behalf to cancel out Democrats if they try to steal the election from her. “I would pray that I win,” said Hamm. “One thing that I have been doing is praying that if anyone tries to steal a vote, that God would send the angels to steal the vote back. To make it an honest vote.” https://www.alternet.org/2022/04/rachel-hamm/ (But if she loses, obviously demonic forces triumphed because Christians didn't pray hard enough)

China suddenly cut contact with sanctioned Russian firms and said the big deal meant to help Russia go around sanctions is on hold. This is because China fears being sanctioned itself. Seems their friendship only lasted until it might cost China money.

Two Ex-Russian Gas Company Execs Found Dead in Two Days Two former executives at major Russian gas companies have been found dead for two days under mysterious circumstances, according to multiple reports. Sergei Protosenya, formerly the chief accountant of Russian gas giant Novatek, is the latest to die, Spanish news site Telecino report. Law enforcement sources said the 55-year-old millionaire died along with his wife and daughter at a villa in the town of Lloret de Mar near Barcelona earlier this week. However, police have yet to officially name the family. Protosenya, a former Novatek board member, was found hanged at the scene, while his wife and daughter were stabbed, the report said. Investigators are said to be looking at two different scenarios: that Protosenya killed his wife and daughter before killing himself, or that all three were murdered by someone who later staged the scene. case. The family was visiting Spain over the Easter holiday. Protosenya is said to be worth around 400 million euros. His death is believed to have taken place on April 19 – just a day after a former vice president of Russia’s Gazprombank was found dead along with his wife and daughter under similar circumstances in Moscow. There is a very real threat that if Trump goes to trial, and especially if convicted, he will call for "demonstrations" to protest all this unfairness. Everyone except maybe the courts will know this for what it is- a rally call for violence and bloodshed with the goal of freeing Trump and/or overthrowing the government. As much as it galls me to admit it, this is probably the most effective deterrence to prosecuting Trump. However, if not prosecuted and convicted, Trump will continue to be a malignant presence, just waiting for the opportunity to seize the opportunity and re-install himself as president for life with unlimited power.
