But it would be both hilarious and revealing to have Trump on the stand. The presiding judge could get so irate that the defendants could be awarded staggering costs. This would provide material for Colbert, Kimmel, Noah and Myers with grist for their mills for many, many shows and expose Trump for what he is- a developmentally delayed brat cushioned by wealth and privilege all of his life.

Retired Major General Names The Vladimir Putin Trait That’s Breaking Russia’s Military Retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. James Marks put the blame for Russia’s faltering invasion of Ukraine firmly on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his excessive pride. Marks, now a military analyst for CNN, said Wednesday that Putin likely thought the invasion would be a 48-hour “cakewalk” with cities across Ukraine falling quickly to his troops. The war is now in its fourth week, with the United Nations estimating that some 7,000 to 15,000 Russian troops have been killed. “I mean, that’s hubris,” Marks told anchor Pamela Brown. “That’s a misunderstanding, a strategic miscalculation that’s incredibly huge. And Putin is in the intel business and he totally blew it. I mean, that’s phenomenal.” Russian forces were ill-prepared for the assault on their neighboring country as a direct result of Putin’s arrogance, Marks continued. “They thought they would … get into Kyiv and they’d immediately be welcomed and they’d have an opportunity to be replenished in (a) short amount of time. That has been totally exposed,” he explained. An “incredible lack of leadership” meant supplies couldn’t get to the front lines and Russian soldiers didn’t know what to do or why they were doing it, he said. “I mean, it’s a total collapse of the Russian military,” Marks added. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/james-marks-putin-ukraine-russia_n_623c24c7e4b0c727d487f7be

Putin has lost close to half of his 100,00 man army and enormous amounts of war materiel. His oligarchs are very unhappy and his remaining military is on the verge of open mutiny. He may have to negotiate a golden parachute and accept exile to a willing foreign country like Serbia or Switzerland where his mistress and children are already living. The Swiss are petitioning their government to expel them, though.

The Wilson-Reybold thing was more hype than anything. The minister in point was silent for months until she lost the cabinet post that she loved, then she developed ethics. She described constant, intense pressure which turned out to be one phone call or email per week and admitted that she did not receive any direction to change her mind. It was bad optics, no doubt but not a hanging offence.

CBC: Everything we know about the Liberal-NDP dental care proposal A proposal in the new Liberal-NDP agreement to create a national dental care program for low-income Canadians could deliver the largest expansion of Canada's public health care system in decades. "It is a matter of dignity," NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Tuesday. "This will make a massive difference for health and for people's quality of life." The deal to create a dental program is part of the new Liberal-NDP "supply-and-confidence" agreement. The agreement will see the New Democrats support the minority Liberal government on confidence votes until 2025 in exchange for action on several NDP priorities. The NDP campaigned on a promise of a national dental care program during Singh's two elections as party leader, but previous Liberal governments never moved on the project. Under the program, families with annual incomes of less than $90,000 lacking dental insurance would be eligible for coverage. Anyone making less than $70,000 annually also would not have to make co-pays — the flat rate fee which otherwise can be charged each time a person makes a claim. Dental fees would be fully covered by the government for any person or family with an income under $70,000. The proposal is nearly identical to the policy plank in NDP platforms for the 2019 and 2021 elections. The federal Liberals are promising to introduce a dental care program for middle- and low-income Canadian families, under its confidence-and-supply agreement with the NDP. Officials expect the program will start later this year for kids under 12, with full implementation by 2025. 2:10 The system would function along the lines of private insurance plans. The plan does not call for specific investments in health care infrastructure or for workers to support the needs of dental patients. About 6.5 million Canadians are believed to be eligible for the plan. That figure is projected to decrease slightly to 6.3 million by 2025 due to demographic shifts and improving labour market conditions. The plan is to be phased in over three years before the Liberal-NDP agreement expires in 2025. Starting later this year, children under 12 would become eligible for the program. In 2023, the coverage would be extended to 18-year-olds, seniors and people living with disabilities. The program would be fully implemented by 2025 under the proposed timeline.

Not sure if the last description is a compliment.

It was a loooong article but I felt I could not crop it without distorting the contents. Anti-Abortion Lt. Gov. Says He Paid for Abortion After Impregnating Woman in 2012 -Reuters North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a conservative Republican who frequently rails against abortion rights, paid for a woman to have an abortion after impregnating her in 1989, according to Axios. Robinson made the admission in a 2012 Facebook comment that resurfaced Tuesday when a Twitter user shared a screengrab of it. “How can so many people ‘Praise God’ with their mouths then vote for a man who supports gay marriage and abortion with their hands,” Robinson wrote, referring to then-President Obama. “It’s wrong when others do it and it was wrong when I ( YES I ) paid to have MY own child aborted in 1989.” Robinson’s virulent anti-abortion stance extends to his apparent belief that when a woman is pregnant, “it’s not (her) body anymore.” Robinson, who has previously described gay and transgender Americans as “filth,” is campaigning for governor in the 2024 elections. He has so far raised $1.5 million, up to four times more than other candidates have at this point in past races. (Case in point supporting the "GOPers are stupid" proposition.)

The disheartening thing is that Putin is very much a fan of Stalin's WW2 tactics where Stalin just kept throwing more and more troops at the Germans regardless of losses. Any soldier who hesitated was shot by his officer, when the Russians ran short of guns, the troops were sent to the front in threes with one rifle between then. When the soldier with the gun died, the man behind him was expected to pick up the gun and carry on. Brutal, and Putin is using the same tactics. Last week a Russian businessman made a public comment critical of the war and last night he, and his family we murdered in their home.

If the American players had better options, they would be elsewhere. This is, in fact, the Canadian Football League. -
Russian Troops Are Now Turning on Each Other “Even in Chechnya, there was nothing like this,” a soldier tells friend in an intercepted call, as reports emerge of another getting so fed up he ran over his colonel with a tank.

When your thinking becomes so distorted that you are unwilling to accept that you do not have a divine right to rule as you see fit, that necessitates any evidence or logic to the contrary becomes heretical in your view and must be either ignored or attacked. Essentially, they are saying that they do not accept democratic outcomes unless if is in their favour. And that is autocratic thinking.

The right wing has swallowed the Trump brand of politics hook, line and sinker. The nature of democracy is that the majority of voters will determine government policies. The alternative? Look at Russia or the type of America Trump fantasizes over where a small, militant percentage of people, not necessarily even voted for, do whatever the hell they want., and get drunk on power.

According to unconfirmed but realistic looking reports, Russian troops have been surrounded in Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel area near Kyiv, cut from supplies. If true - the biggest defeat of a Russian army until now, and Ukraine needs to start worrying about too many POWs. 2K 217 487 Facebook Pinterest

And the Ukrainian army has retaken two critical towns near Kyiv in the last 24 hours.

Back lanes are great if done properly. We need fewer front streets!

I am not sure this is a bellweather byelection for all three parties concerned. Obby shot himself in the foot with his incredibly thoughtless and lame "shoulda, coulda, woulda" comment. Otherwise, he would have been a credible candidate. The riding has been non-NDP both federal and provincial for quite a while, so a Liberal win is the likeliest outcome. And maybe the most desirable. The PCs will soothe themselves with the thought that at least it didn't go to the NDP, but I can foresee the PCs suffering a massive defeat in the next election, much as the Devine administration did in Saskatchewan.

Singh got pretty much everything on the NDP platform last election, so a win for them. Liberals get a chance to fumble through another term and try to resurrect their fortunes and favour in voters' eyes. Some of the best legislations have gotten through when the Liberals were in a minority government.
