  1. Things were so bad in some West Virginia counties that Doctors Without Borders actually opened up clinics there. The average male life expectancy in those counties at that time was 67, and the infant mortality was in the third-world range.
  2. I think it would be highly appropriate if the US courts ruled that a disclaimer had to be put on-screen and in the opening comments by each Fox host that this is not a news program and is not factual and any and all content should be viewed as entertainment.
  3. Delta Variant Now Makes Up 83% Of New U.S. COVID Cases: CDC Director The more transmissible delta variant of the coronavirus now makes up about 83% of new COVID-19 cases in the U.S., with the majority of deaths occurring in unvaccinated people, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday. “This is a dramatic increase up from 50%, the week of July 3,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky said of the current rate of cases involving the delta strain during a Senate hearing. “In some parts of the country, the percentage is even higher.” Over the last week, the U.S. has averaged 239 deaths per day from the virus. This is a near-48% increase from the prior week. The overwhelming majority of deaths are among those who are unvaccinated, she said.
  4. Patience, Grasshopper. all will be well. The Force is not disturbed.
  5. I could live with that and a lot of Americans could live, period.
  6. So....he isn't Mr. automatic?
  7. Not that I know of apart from organizing a few protests.
  8. For those who have not been following this story, this was a a large scale operation, involving some 20 people and a Haitian living in Miami was identified as the organizer and funder. The problem is that this individual has no income, is $400,000 in business debt and has never been involved in politics of any sort. The most recent reports have indicated that the person behind the assassination is a former cabinet minister, and members of the security team who were to protect the president were also involved/bribed.
  9. I was surprised to read that Oliviera checked in at nearly 220lb. He looks very lean so that is all muscle, and if he is as quick and fast as he was before, he will now have more mass to make him more difficult to bring down.
  10. DEA Agent Proudly Posed With Service Pistol, Badge at Capitol Riots, Feds Say A special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration brought his service weapon and badge to the Jan. 6 Capitol siege, defiantly displaying them for multiple photos taken in restricted areas on the Capitol grounds after police barricades were overrun, a newly-unsealed court filing reveals. Mark Sami Ibrahim, who worked out of a DEA office in the Los Angeles area, traveled from California to Washington, D.C., to take part in the pro-Trump insurrection that left five people dead, the filing states. A friend of Ibrahim’s told investigators that the probationary agent “had been thinking about his next move” because he was planning to leave the DEA and “wanted the protests to be his stage for launching a ‘Liberty Tavern’ political podcast and cigar brand,” it explains. Ibrahim, who was suspended in March after DEA brass found out he had been on site when the Capitol was breached, told investigators he never entered the building. However, he is still facing three charges for entering restricted grounds while carrying a deadly weapon; climbing the Peace Monument outside the Capitol; and lying to federal agents. 11. Feds arrest close Trump ally Tom Barrack on charges of an illegal foreign influence campaign in 2016: report Federal law enforcement authorities have arrested a top Trump friend and ally, Tom Barrack. The charges have yet to be unsealed, CNBC reports. Barrack served as then-President Donald Trump's chairman of his 2017 inaugural fund. The charges are not believed to be related to that fund. "Few people are closer to Trump than Barrack, his friend for three decades," an October, 2017 Washington Post article said of Barrack. "Barrack as Barrack helped rescue Trump's real estate empire years ago. He was the top fundraiser for Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. He turned down a Cabinet offer, preferring to be an outside adviser, although his name is still mentioned as a potential White House chief of staff should Trump decide to choose a new one. Above all, Barrack has remained unfailingly loyal to Trump, whom he sees as a shrewd politician." UPDATE: NBC's Tom Winter reports charges include acting as an "agent" of a foreign government, "influencing the foreign policy positions of the Trump campaign in 2016" and lying to the FBI: Feds arrest close Trump ally Tom Barrack on charges of an illegal foreign influence campaign in 2016: report - Alternet.org (The detonations are getting closer and closer to Trump. Once of of Trump's cabal rolls over, it will start an avalanche)
  12. FTFY. Legghio's accuracy ought to be correctable as it probably is a mechanical issue. Not giving up on him yet, but he has to earn it despite what O'Shea said earlier.
  13. I think that play pretty much ended Maccocia's career in Edmonton.
  14. I believe that we are about 34 million population- that would make a vaccine-related mortality of less than one in ten million , or less than .008 %.
  15. This is a difficult issue and there may be a compromise which is already in place to an extent. In some countries, if you have not registered as a potential organ donor, should you need a replacement organ, you go to the bottom of the list. If you are not vaccinated, your access to public services and locations is already restricted to a degree, but that can be made more absolute. If an adult presents with COVID symptoms, their priority access to treatment ought to be restricted so that they go to the back of the line and the unaccepted people are refused access to dentistry, physio, hospitalization etc. Similarly, access to retail establishments, entertainment venues and even religious gatherings would be denied. Pretty soon, the resistant few would be limited to the intractable ones. At-risk children would be identified and exempted where appropriate.
  16. The American dream.....or is it nightmare?
  17. Considering the smarts of Rider fans (not to mention their gullibility) this Rider O-line with be praised until Fajardo gets carried off the field. Then the wailing will be about "dirty defensive players" taking cheap shots.
  18. This would raise the average IQ in those communities.
  19. Had his first name been Mortimer, they would have kept him.
  20. One more pandemic ought to do it.
  21. Then stay out of Winkler.
  22. Apparently there is now a booming business in selling fake vaccination cards. So..........
  23. Trump says his only regret as President was not deploying military to attack BLM protestors Donald Trump, the twice-impeached, one-term Republican president who lost the popular vote twice and the Electoral College once says he has but a single regret for his time as Commander in Chief: not deploying the U.S. Military to attack Black Lives Matter protestors during the summer of 2020 – an act that at the very least would have been met with massive resistance nationwide and some say would have violated the Constitution. In a lengthy excerpt published at Vanity Fair from their new book, "I Alone Can Fix It," Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker focus on their hours-long interview with the former president at Mar-a-Lago, just 70 days after Joe Biden was sworn in as president. "I think it would be hard if George Washington came back from the dead and he chose Abraham Lincoln as his vice president, I think it would have been very hard for them to beat me," Trump told the two Washington Post reporters."I think it would be hard if George Washington came back from the dead and he chose Abraham Lincoln as his vice president, I think it would have been very hard for them to beat me." That was just one of the astonishing remarks Trump made during the interview – an interview he agreed to, knowingly, for the book. "Over the years," Leonnig and Rucker write, "Trump rarely has expressed misgivings. But he regrets his response to protests last summer in Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, and other cities. 'I think if I had it to do again, I would have brought in the military immediately,' he said." Trump says his only regret as President was not deploying military to attack BLM protestors - Alternet.org The fake Arizona "audit" is confusing, idiotic, and endless — which means it's working as intended Trump and his allies are building the foundation for the 2024 coup effort by sowing more confusion about voting now The first thing to know about the fake Arizona vote "audit" that was the subject of an equally fake state senate "hearing" last Thursday: It's nearly impossible to follow what the hell is happening. A lot of wild claims about voting "irregularities" are being flung about, and so are the fact checks, in a dizzying array of information that will cause even the most avid QAnoner's eyes to glaze over. Over the weekend, Donald Trump put out three separate statements full of so many false claims about the "audit," that it's nearly impossible to keep track of and debunk every lie. Associated Press reporters must surely be commended for their efforts in doing so. The second thing to know about the fake audit is that everything about it is pure theater. It is agitprop meant to create the illusion of information-gathering while the people involved are doing everything in their power to distort reality. Take for instance Doug Logan, a conspiracy theorist masquerading as a security "expert," whose firm, Cyber Ninjas, is running the fake audit. He pretended to testify last week about the so-called audit in an environment done up to look like a senate hearing. In reality, as the Arizona Republic reported, "it was not a hearing of any committee," and no one was allowed to ask questions but Arizona Senate President Karen Fann and Sen. Warren Peterson, two Republicans who have been involved in propping up this fake audit from day one. The third thing to know is that, even though the "audit" was supposed to be wrapped two months ago, it's quite clear now that it will be dragged out for a long time, and may never really be concluded. Logan has a pre-existing conclusion — that the election was "stolen" from Trump — and so Logan wants to keep digging even though he is yet have turned up any real evidence, because it didn't happen. He is now asking if his "auditors" can go door to door, using "canvassing" as cover for what is obviously going to be a racialized harassment campaign against Arizona voters. The fake Arizona "audit" is confusing, idiotic, and endless — which means it's working as intended | Salon.com
  24. The reports out of Bomber training camp have been thin, few and far between. In most years, we would be getting daily updates as to who is doing well, who is not, rookie "finds" and so forth. I find this lack of updates disheartening and annoying.
  25. I guess we should stop chortling at the Rider injuries now.
