  1. I can see Calgary and Winnipeg battling for first in the west all season. Eskies at 9&9, Riders at 6 & 12 (and probably worse than that) and BC at 10 & 8. I do worry about Nichols, though. Hamilton will carry the East without breaking a sweat. Toronto will be a pleasant surprise but Ottawa will struggle and Montreal....brrrrr.
  2. Say what you will about Khari's effectiveness as a coach in the CFL, but in every role he has been in, he has presented as intelligent and dedicated, so that gives him credibility. Sherman has no prior record to give him anything similar.
  3. And they could with Maudie Frickert behind center.
  4. Also: if your backup QB does not demonstrate the ability to push for a starting role, he has to have some pretty darned good other skills to warrant keeping. Maybe this is why McGuire is still here and Bennett is not.
  5. But that is what will doom him unless he improves a lot.
  6. And fools seldom differ.
  7. Chris Matthews
  8. The Riders are invoking the "faint hope clause" when it comes to quarterbacking.
  9. I wonder if his hockey player brothers will show up for games.
  10. That's a pretty low bar.
  11. I think this is likely to be a reprieve rather than an vote of confidence. Reed has to be the hands-down worst GM in the league.
  12. Not surprised about Simonise, but disappointed. I thought he would have a breakout season this year, but he just did not take that next step forward to prove he was a legit starter. I owe O'Shea an apology. I did not think Bennett would get cut but if a rookie QB comes into camp and is as good a s a vet who is probably earning more, the writing is on the wall.
  13. I was and still am an unabashed Khari fan, in his roles as a player, a coach and as a human being. I had some hope that he would one day be a coach in Winnipeg. Maybe with the CFL owning and overseeing the Alouettes, he will have a decent chance to assemble and lead a good team of his choosing.
  14. Unless you are passing by Regina.
  15. Weird mix of colours in the unis. Hard to tell them apart.
  16. IO'Shea is loyal to a fault to his veterans and at times that has been a detriment to the team. I think O'Shea sees Bennett as his kind of guy and will cut hmi all kinds of slack.
  17. Too bad about Boynton- his back story was touching and he did seem to have the talent but not the seasoning. From a purely emotional point of view, it would have brought a tear to my eye to see a Battle linebacker in blue and gold again.
  18. O'Shea waited until Willy was nearly reduced to a gibbering wreck before starting Nichols and look how long it took him to pull Nichols in the Labour Day "Classic".
  19. That would be a short span- too much pier pressure.
  20. Who are we kidding? Bennett will be the 3rd QB because O'Shea is O'Shea. His handling of the QBs in the past few years has shown that.
  21. Collaros has the same terrible offensive coordinator as last year, an O-line which is no better than last year and maybe worse, and it sure as spit looks like the quality of his available receivers has declined. The Bomber front 4/7 are significantly better than last year and ought to feast on the Rider QBs. If Collaros has been traumatized, a couple of good solid hits and he will go into a feeble(sic) position on the field. Maybe even wet himself. The Rider running back might be better but he still needs holes to get through.
  22. Shhh....you will frighten them.
  23. Be honest now- you're just using this as an excuse to escape Saskatchewan for a while, aren't you?
  24. This reminds me of when I was having sex with a German gal and she kept rating my performance by shouting "Nine! Nine" all the while. I was surprised to be rated that highly but I never heard from her again....
  25. I believe I can a whistle coming from near a graveyard....
