I am stunned that Trump has ordered some federal employees to report to work without being paid. Firstly, some of these "essential services workers" are those tasked with issuing petroleum exploration permits- hardly "essential". Secondly, I'm pretty sure that being ordered to work without payment under threat is a classic definition of slavery. How can the American courts countenance this?

Oh, yes he has. Hang in awhile longer.
-
oh, Lord. Please, no.

It would be interesting to watch both of them with their walkers.

Not a lot of data on Jones, and Briggs is huge but slow. Looks like 300 lbs is now the minimum weight for import O-linemen.

Apart from the legalities, Durant would have been better than anyone else the Riders had behind center this past season. But that's a pretty low bar.
-
The Riders and Durant deserve each other. Good riddance. If the Bombers can get a cheese Whopper and fries, they should go for it.

Sounds credible.

I was referring to Simonise. Wolitarsky appears to be more of a possession receiver who can catch in traffic, punish d-backs and power ahead for more yards. I don't think we have seen anywhere near Simonise's potential yet, and maybe we never will. All the physical tools and talent do no good if the fire in the belly is not there. We just do not know yet.

We might have such a game-breaker already on our roster- big, good hands, very fast and a Canuck to boot. All we need is for the receivers coach to tune him up and give him the playing time to establish a rapport with our QB(s).

There is an interesting corollary to the story: it would seem that Pederson was done in by someone who had an axe to grind with him. This might mean that his core personality didn't change all that much after he went dry.
-
Or CNN, but on the other hand, "Fox News" might.

My point being that when people are in the grip of an addiction, they are often devious, dishonest and manipulative. Those who dry out and overhaul their lives as per the 12 steps are the ones who flourish, but those who simply abstinent (often by being compelled) are the ones who struggle and often fall down again because they have not done the work on themselves.

It was widely known that Peterson had been battling the bottle for many years but had dried out several years ago. However, if you sober up a horse thief, you still have a horse thief.

No matter what happens in Pile O' Bones, the fans there will refuse to see it as any kind of setback. Apart from the Bombers, there is a lot of turmoil this year in the CFL west.

In recent US politics news, the FBI has documented that they warned the Trump campaign in mid-2016 that Russia was trying to influence the election through the Republican party in general and the Trump election committee. They advised the committee that they were obligated to report any further contact with the Russians to the FBI, but the FBI has hard evidence that there were subsequent contacts that went unreported. Further, the FBI has stated that Manafort had contact with someone in the White House during the time he was "cooperating" with Mueller. Manafort is looking at some serious jail time- up to 20 years. However, Trump's proposed AG, Barr, has made ambiguous statements as whether he would allow vigorous investigation and prosecution of a sitting president.

I don't know how to feel about this.

Sheritt has lasted a surprisingly long time, considering his size and the heavy traffic he had to play in.

From a sports perspective, days don't get much better than yesterday. Bighill signs a 3 year deal, Chris Jones jilts the Riders after signing an extension (love the irony) and the Jets soundly beat the Vegas Knights who ended the Jets' season last year. Come on, 2019!!!

I heard that Germany wanted a team in Warsaw so that they could go over there. They also wanted a team in Paris so that they could practice their end runs.

I have heard that some of them are quite skilled in running and climbing.

You may be overestimating the condemnation of Trump by right-wingers and his base in particular. Whatever proof is presented, they will likely shrug it off as manufactured by the FBI and the "Deep State". When left-wingers are betrayed by their political leaders, they will withdraw support or at the least, remain neutral. For right-wingers, any criticism, even when supported by vivid proof will be assumed to be an attack on themselves personally, and their support of their chosen leaders will become even more intense, even to the point of violence.

Putin will be very upset.

Is any money actually going to change hands?

Re: the Mexico stuff. The ESPN contract(s) would be a lot more lucrative if the audience in Mexico started watching the CFL in large numbers, and the advertising revenue would also jump. There might even be some good players unearthed. At the very least, the initiative got a fair bit media attention. Its all good.
