The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Safety
Tracker replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My first thought was Brian Herosian, but on reflection, it should be Paul Bennett, and he was a Canuck to boot, was he not? -
Then they compared the sperm of 24 human men who smoked marijuana weekly versus a control group who used marijuana no more than 10 times in their life and not at all in the past half-year. In both cases — rats and humans — marijuana changed how genes work in sperm cells. By no means am I demonizing marijuana- in fact the evidence shows that it is likely less harmful, physically and socially than alcohol. But, for some 3-5% of users the effects are deleterious. One of the major problems in the debate is that the proponents cite research that is based on an era where the active ingredient was about 2-4% whereas the hybrid strains now have tested as high as 21%. There is no free lunch. There are benefits for some in using marijuana derivatives and there will be negative side effects for others.

Disagree: We already know that cannabis lowers sperm count, but new research suggests that the drug actually causes changes to the sperm itself — which might have implications for the health of a potential baby. For a study published today in the journal Epigenetics, scientists at Duke University compared the sperm of two groups of rats: those who had been given tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, and those who had not. Then they compared the sperm of 24 human men who smoked marijuana weekly versus a control group who used marijuana no more than 10 times in their life and not at all in the past half-year. In both cases — rats and humans — marijuana changed how genes work in sperm cells.

Pot usage is not all that innocuous for some. Heavy, continued intake can trigger psychoses, overwrite DNA in sperm and even cause lactation in males due to suppression of testosterone. Those who use THC to self-medicate anxiety or bipolar disorder (etc), typically do not get better from the presenting issue.

It was all due to steroids.

I do not know how much benefit the third bye week is to players, but I would be in favour of one less bye week and moving the Grey Cup up one week.
-
It could also be named for a popular short-sleeved knit shirt.

Looked to be a horrific injury. Can't blame him- in a few years that ankle will be arthritic as heck.
-
Touche' Spuds. Now lets see how that turns out. When Chamblin was HC of the Riders, all was well when the team was winning, but his rants in the locker room were apparently epic and his public one not much less so. But he will be in Toronto, so that sort of thing would probably never be noticed.

This debate over who to hang is unresolvable in this forum. We do not know and will probably never know who called what play, and who screwed up . The evidence is in the game film and the logs of the OC, and we will not see those. Part of O'Shea's modus operandi is to trot out platitudes and not tell it like it was. There is the need to not throw a given player or players under the bus, but the assembled faithful would feel a lot more involved if we had a sense of what was really going on and how it was going to be addressed. All we have is speculation and that gets old real fast.

Ryckman did that to a lot of Calgary businesses and people.

They could be referred to as "Montezuma's revenge".

We won't hold that against him- we're used to that sort of thing here.

Jovon was also much more bombastic and thus got a lot of media attention, so that made him a lot more prominent. Hefney just went about his business. -
He was epically terrible head coach/GM, but a good special teams coordinator.
-
Now you're channeling my wife. No fair.
-
And we already have a park in St. Norbert named after him.
-
I wasn't aware that knee injuries cause quarterbacks to repeatedly toss the ball to opposing players. The league and coaches need to be alerted.
-
And in Nichols' case, again and again. Those gaffes in the games against the Riders may have been the worst in two consecutive games by ant QB in Bomber livery I can recall seeing. I do not think they can be ascribed to any physical cause, either.
-
Sounds like he would not get a sniff from the NFL, but would do well here if he has the ability to adapt to the CFL game. A true dark horse.
-
Fans have notoriously short memories, so if the team does well out of the gate, all will be forgiven. Nichols does not have to be an all-star but if he repeats his play of this year, it will either of two things: either he needs to be replaced or the rest of the offence will have to play light out to compensate.

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber Team: Defensive Halfbacks

I would like to suggest that we have a "Swiss army knife" category for players who played multiple positions very well. -

And probably the best into-the-wind punter ever.
