  1. My beef is not and has never been with this management. The problems with the team appear to be with the coaching and possibly player recruitment. The point is that a rookie GM and a rookie head coach at the same time taking over a troubled and talent-poor team is pretty much a recipe for struggle.
  2. Is this called grasping at straws?
  3. Now I don't know what to think.
  4. Now I'm really depressed.
  5. I would love to know that it is injury- then we would have reason to expect that he will get better.
  6. This is what is concerning me about the upcoming game- Riders have an anemic offence but a good defence and the past couple of game have shown that we have neither at the moment.
  7. If Nichols has not learned it yet, he had better understand that if you bathe in the accolades, you perforce must accept the criticism when it is given honestly.
  8. We all live in hope of a better day to come.
  9. Best news I've heard all day!!!!! Welcome home, son.
  10. I hope that the refs call the holding both ways consistently. Sask O-line cannot compete with out a lot of grabbing.
  11. No way is Burnham going to be moved. Receivers of his caliber are very difficult to find.
  12. Disagree. Collaros is no Bo Levi even though he has some very good receivers to work with. I expect that most of the Bomber troubles will come from the Rider D-line and linebackers. Rider defensive backfield is suspect but I do not think that Nichols is good enough at this point to take advantage of that. I suspect a grinding low-scoring game with at least one QB carried off the field.
  13. You don't have to have a cannon for an arm to be successful in the CFL- examples abound. You don't even have to be mobile, but you do have to be smart, be able to read defences quickly and command the respect of your teammates. I think that Nichols should start against Sask but he has to understand that his leash is short- a quarter perhaps two and if he is not producing, the hook has to come out.
  14. Agreed, and Loffler might do well at WIL. I recall a local boy Leo Ezerins who came into camp as a tight end and became a decent linebacker.
  15. I have no doubt that O'Shea will want to field Lankford again (after all, he scored a TD last Saturday) but if O'Shea is fearing for his job, he just might start Washington.
  16. Spit. We're in good shape for NI O-linemen but he certainly would be welcome here.
  17. Yes, he would be paid out, but what then? If he returns to the US of A, he would be in real trouble with health care costs.
  18. What may be compounding O'Shea's reluctance to dump Hall is that Hall has been rumoured to have or have had serious health problems and firing him would certainly put Hall in a difficult situation.
  19. A split is absolutely a must. I suggest that even one flukey win will not be enough to silence the critics of O'Shea and the team in general.
  20. The two beatings were symptomatic of the larger problems with the team, and those issues are neither new nor being addressed.
  21. Well, the defence has at least one hole in it and the team was forked.
  22. From 3Downnation today: It’s time for Hall to fall The Bombers gave up 500 yards of offence to the Ottawa Redblacks last week. Trevor Harris completed 29 of 39 pass attempts for 361 yards and a touchdown en route to a 44-21 victory at Investors Group Field. Blue Bomber defensive coordinator Richie Hall met with a scrum of reporters at practice this past week and, when asked to comment on the play of his defence, offered a response that was matched in its incredulity only by its tone-deafness. “I like where we’re at.” “I like where we’re at.” Barf. If Hall liked watching his unit give up 500 yards to Ottawa, I’m interested to learn how he feels about them giving up 516 yards to Calgary. Bo Levi Mitchell completed 25 of 42 pass attempts for 452 yards and three touchdowns in an effort that set two new milestones in Cowtown. It was the first 400-yard passing game of Mitchell’s career, while Kamar Jorden’s 249-yard performance broke the Stampeders’ club record for single-game receiving yardage. It’s time for Winnipeg to relieve Richie Hall of his duties. Enough is enough. Hall is a well-respected person in CFL circles who emanates class, humility, and kindness. This isn’t personal. This is about winning games. Richie Hall’s defence isn’t helping the Bombers win. It hasn’t for awhile. Mike O’Shea, Glen Young, and Jordan Younger share a combined 39 years of playing experience and fifteen years of coaching experience. The trio is surely capable of picking up the slack in Hall’s absence. A change is needed. Let’s see if Mike O’Shea has the nerve to make it.
  23. And remember, O'Shea says he spoon-feeding Hall this year. Has anyone noticed the vast improvement?
  24. Do you suppose the putrid performance of the team for two consecutive weeks had anything to do with it?
  25. It was a risk- a shiny new and unproven GM with a shiny new and unproven rookie head coach. What could go wrong?
