Help us Chris Streveler, You're our Only Hope
Tracker replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Bombers need to hold the Esks to under 25 points in order to win. As in almost all games, the line play will determine the game outcome. -
The Argo-Rider game ought to be a riot to watch.

In the West: Edmonton, then a dog fight for second between Calgary and Winnipeg, then the Riders with BC bringing up the rear. In the East: Toronto, then Hamilton follwed closely by Ottawa and Montreal in a death march. BTW, I am not convinced that Bo Levi will be the player he was in 2016, so that may offset the Bombers' loss of the services of their #1 quarterback for the first few games. The most interesting teams to watch will be the Riders imploding, BC floundering and Montreal looking they ought to be in the Arena Football league.

I seem to recall that yesterday O'Shea said that Leggett would not dress against the Esks. The way he phrased it, it sounded that Leggett was day-to-day. -

As I see it, the Esks' O-line is very good as is the Bomber D-line, so that will be a saw-off, but Streveler ought to have success against the Esks' linebackers and d-backs with a mix of hot routes and the occasional sprint. Still, it will be trial by fire for Streveler and if the Bombers can keep it close, that would be good enough for the moment. -
Do you actually dare to say that the Riders might have.......misspoke?

The best example of irony, BTW, is getting pregnant on a pull-out couch.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
Tracker replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Agreed. Ross looks to be more of a Kevin Glenn sort of quarterback, If he can't fire it deep once in awhile with accuracy and zip, he will be found out. -

He did not shine in his 2018 debuts, and no better than last year, so not a huge loss. Medlock is not that far away from the end of his shelf life, though. -

I suspect that the proliferation of packet passers in the CFL is because that is the dominant training of quarterbacks in US college. In our larger fields, any pivot who is a threat to run as a secondary option really stresses the opposing defences. A pure pocket passer has to be really precise and quick but there are a lot more of those to choose from. -
Considering that Jones has to be on thin ice already due to his lack of success and screwing with the rules plus all the league fines, this looks to be another debacle in the making which ought to lead to his being turfed by Labour Day.

Odds and Sods 2018 X-game 2 - Bombers at BC Lions

So... you're open to panicking after the 9th? -
I agree with most of what you have posted, disagree with the too-nice part describing O'Shea and Hall. Football, like other sports has a business side to it that is harsh sometimes but necessary. We have had more than one coach here who kept players past their "best before" date, and they and the team, not to mention the fans, suffered for it.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?

Overall, there are a couple of concerns for me: firstly, as was mentioned by another poster, O'Shea seems to be more disposed to keeping veteran players instead of opting for newcomers who have shown equally well or better. Secondly, I hope this does not extend to his choice of starting quarterbacks. Case in point is Willy's tenure here- almost unanimously this forum knew way before his trade that Willy was damaged beyond repair, yet O'Shea kept trotting him out. That did not serve either Willy nor the team well. -

Apparently Jones in Regina has already announced that Bridge will be the starter in the first game. Way to boost Collaros' confidence, Jonesie.

While we are waiting for Nichols to leave sick bay, Ross, Bennett and Streveler will get a lot better. At that time, the whole roster will have to be reevaluated.

I would expect Ross to start against the Esks, but on a short leash. -
Odds and Sods 2018 X-game 2 - Bombers at BC Lions
Tracker replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It was notable that Ross was better than he looked in the previous game, Bennett looks like he could step in if needed, Streveler was not as good as he looked as in the previous game, and probably not as bad as he looked last night. Simonise was mostly invisible, and I expected better from him. Still, I'm not sure how often he was thrown to. Overall, some prospects played themselves out of jobs, and that's what the coaches wanted to settle. Sunday will be interesting -
All things considered, not a bad half of football for our side.
-
Bonus points for Peterman on that play!
-
Bennett hasn;t set the team on fire, but he has looked respectable.
-
He will develop a sudden, mysterious and lingering injury.
